Champagne Supernova is absolutely a masterpiece. Lots of bands covered this in concert after it came out. Its one of those songs you just have to experience.
Oh yes - this is one of "those songs" for me - spring 1996, my girlfriend, her 19th birthday - dancing wrapped around each other, almost in a surreal trance because of this amazing song - alas it was not meant to be, but the memories...
As well as The Beatles, The Stone Roses were a huge influence on Oasis. I know few reactors will opt for the full length versions, but the 8-9 minute audio versions of "I am the Ressurections" and "Fools Gold" are what made that debut album regarded by critics as one of the greatest British albums ever. Reni is considered by the industry to be one of the greatest drummers.
I'm showing my age, but I have to point out the older gentleman driving the car at the beginning of the video (and seen standing with an umbrella at 3:16) is the famous British actor Patrick Macnee, who played secret agent John Steed in a TV show called The Avengers, with Diana Rigg back in the early 60s. The umbrella and bowler hat were part of his trademark look. Loved that show!
Love these comments, watched the Avengers. The Saint with Roger Moore too before he became James Bond. Oasis is fantastic. I’m glad they’re giving it another go. I hope they don’t start fighting again.
In the pub where we used to go on a Sunday night in the mid-1990's (Manchester, UK) this would be one of the last song's of the night and the whole pub, which would be packed, would stop what they were doing and sing the song. I've not known anything like it before or since and my son, now 25, who listened to Oasis growing up is slightly envious he didn't get to experience it. So many other great songs they have produced.
I don't think you realise how big and culturally significant Oasis are in UK. Biggest band in Uk of the 90's. Masterplan would be my suggestion for your next reaction.

Pretty overrated I think.
One good album. Then, one good song - Don’t Look Back In Anger. Then, mediocrity ever since.
"Gonna start a revolution from my bed" - direct reference to Lennon.
The song also starts with the piano playing the same chords used in Imagine.
"Stand up beside the fireplace" was also a very common Irish thing to do when getting photos taken. Communions etc.
