I enjoy Adam and Hoss! They’re my favorite! Saturday morning with the Cartwrights remind me of my beloved dad and brother who have passed away. My brother enjoyed all the Shows. I often wonder why there was sooo much hatred towards Ben! He was kindhearted and cared for the land.
Many of the towns people liked them, but there were some who were jealous of his good fortune too. Jealousy and hatred are running neck 'n neck.
I was watching this as a kid here in Germany, Bonanza was great.

Pernell Roberts (Adam actually hated doing that show. He thought it was beneath him.
It was more complicated than that. He felt that grown men should not have to get their father's approval for everything. He felt that the scripts were very limited so his acting abilities were also limited. He did have a point
Love these old westerns, Bonanza, Big Valley, Gunsmoke. This was my go, to after my chores were done on Saturday afternoon. Wow so lucky to still be able to watch these classics.

There were a lot of Western series back then. I think something like 30 or so during the late 50's through the sixties and mid 70's Gunsmoke ran 20 years and was a radio show with Robert Conrad before it because a TV show. Yes all kinds of westerns to suit everyone. Bonanza ran want , 14 years I think.
I watch this as a kid . when it come on t.v. everone gather around im 68 years old today. Life on the farm was hard but is was good.

Watching this show as a kid I didn't care that none of them were never married because I had a crush on all of them most especially Adam...he was,my husband lol but watching now as an adult it just doesn't make sense why they were not allowed to get married,build houses of their own on the property as 3 grown men living with their father makes no sense when all the young people around them fall in love.
If youve watched much of this program you will see several episodes of near misses with marriages with Ben and all 3 boys. Joe was even married once and expecting a child. The woman dies shortly after marriage. Very tragic episode.

I love how Ben saw right through Len's "little speech". He is a hard business man when he has to be. They should have let Adam kick the kids butt. Maybe it would have taken him down a peg.

I grew up watching these. At the age of 4 I hardly understood so I am watching all over.
This was the very first episode of bonanza that I ever watched. My good friend told me she watched it because Michael Landon portrayal of little Joe but I couldn’t keep my eyes off of Adam Cartwright. He looked extra yummy in this episode 👀

I was forced to watch westerns because my grandma had only one TV. I really enjoyed as I got older.
How can the miners be such bad shots with rifles? Little Joe fatally hit one bad guy with his revolver while riding on horseback from like 50+ yards without even aiming. Impressive!

If you watched all Bonanza episodes, you'll note the early ones (where Adam was scruffy in blue jeans) were much more serious, much more simple westerns before the more humorous, dramatic and comedic later seasons...
Brutal! Keith got killed and everybody was happy. Not much mourning from the daughter, but then again she was inheriting a lot of money so there wasn't much to cry about.

David Blaskie - That was ‘stage food’ intended to look good on screen but not actually eaten. 🤣 I watched a show once about food photographers, and their craft of making food look good while being photographed. Little things like whipped cream, butter, or syrup on pancakes or whatever and how the real thing required perfect timing as it didn’t retain its shape under the lighting. They used things like motor oil for syrup, silicone sealant for water droplets 💦, etc. Maybe that’s why he “didn’t take a bite of it.” LOL!

Adam could've had that blond twang; like when the USA flag is displayed in those town gatherings; thought Ben's Ponderosa was 400,000+ acres and he got 7 or 8 ranch hands to help with the dipping; what kind of payroll does Ben have??; never seen Ben or his offspring ever overlooking their ' vast' herds of ranch cattle...hilarious Cartwrights for sure.
they were doing the sulfur dipping in different sections of the range,not all in one place,remember when Ben told Adam to check on the north range progress while he would go help Hoss and little Joe,and they also mentioned the funds were low for that time of year,so probably didn't have a lot of extra hands on payroll,so a lot of things are explained thru dialogue and not visually to cut production costs.
@@adrian72300 that was the only weakness in bonanza the fact that they owned the biggest ranch going but unless it concerned the storyline never saw any one but them and later candy working on it.never see the bunkhouse or corrals and what happened to the hundreds of cartwrights in the hills referred to in the pilot and several times in the first series.later on we see a flahback episode where ben comes alone to nevada and builds the ranch up from nothing.

The first weakly written episode as far as I'm concerned. When the dad was giving the kid carte blanche to do what he will with the ranch, hell I just can't see even a half intelligent man piss his life's work away on a shit-mouthed kid like his. Even crippled he can make his money on different non damaging leases, horse breeding, cattle breeding, it'sjust there's always a way to make it work when you got lots of well watered space... and the scenery's not so bad too haha!
