This story is about Billy, a nice little lad and Hoss Cartwright. Billy lives in Cartwright family and soon they become friends. Hoss killed Billy's father accidentally and so there is a misunderstanding in Billy's mind about Hoss. But soon they become friends again. Thus the story ends. Good story .I enjoyed the story very much.Western Classics.Virginia.

The title of this episode 'Feet of Clay' is a term from the Bible. It is the description of the world rulers who have hurt God's people. Large and powerful except for the 'feet of clay' which cause a collapse and destruction. (Daniel 2:31-44) Lots of awesome things in the Bible!

    "Feet of Clay"...
    HA!
Hoss had no feet of clay!
There was no hidden weakness or flaw in Hoss' character!
    NONE WHATSOEVER!
Maybe the title was referring to Billy's dad.
Billy didn't know the truth of his dad's character; so, his dad's evil side was hidden from Billy until Billy finally saw the truth of his dad's character in his dad's partner in crime.
It took seeing the savagery of Billy's dad's partner for Billy's eyes to open to the truth of his dad's hidden character flaws.
Vince Allen was the man with "Feet of Clay."
Of course, today's American would say Hoss was the man with Feet Made of Clay for crying over killing the boy's dad.
What a 180° turn our society has made regarding morality issues these past 60 yrs.

The DVD's of this show HAD to remove the twang guitar open and close. The reason for this was that the copyright owners (Jay Livingston and Ray Evans) would have to be paid HUGE royalties. Remember the stripper instrumental (1958)? That was a huge hit for David Rose and his band. David was also the man who orchestrated your 'Bonanza' twang guitar open and close.

Hoss say that Marie, Joe's mother, was the only mother he eve knew. Perhaps this was a reference to her death.

Through the run of the show, Hoss killed over 150 people. It seems a little odd seeing him grieve so terribly over one more, even though it was the boy's father. Collectively, the Cartwrights killed over 900 people, just over a third of the population of Virginia City.

In the end, the boy did understand that Hoss truly (_sincerely_) cared about him. Hoss didn't necessarily have to "worry" that the boy might not forgive him (later on); . . . it took time . . .
