Congrats!! I just stumbled upon your channel and have similar aspirations :) I'm applying to internships for the summer right now and your videos have really inspired me
I just discovered your channel and am so surprised by our parallels! I’m currently a running start student studying Political Science and I will be transferring to UW after I graduate Highschool with my AA :) I was wondering if you have any advice for a younger version of yourself - I’m hoping to get into politics in the future.
Hey that’s awesome so glad you found my channel! Yes lots of advice- I’ve made some videos on how to get involved in politics, about my internship in DC and other advice! Happy to answer questions and good luck 🇺🇸
Congratulations! I am currently a sophomore at my local high school who loves public speaking. I have a couple of questions related to interning with politicians - is there a way I could ask some questions privately about the topic?
Congratulations!! I have a question for you! I’ve had a passion for political affairs and my hope is to get a job for a congressional representative or senator, but in terms of job security, if you work for a representative that doesn’t win re election, what would happen to your job if you work for that person? Would you be able to jump to work with another representative or would you be out of a job until you find another line of business? Thank you!
Hi Jacob, Job security on the hill is very hard to come by. Every few years you are potentially looking for another job and could be out of work for a few months at a time. That’s why connections are so important, while you work for the member you need to be making connections with other offices and other people so that if they do lose you could hopefully go somewhere else right away only if there’s a position open. If you have good connections that’s usually not too hard to do, as long as there are positions available of course, but sometimes you may be out of work for a few months. A lot of people who want to work in politics but don’t want to have to worry about finding a new job every few years often choose not to work on the hill, which is what I did.
you seem like such a kind, warm person! thank you for all the advice and tips in politics :)
You’re so sweet- thank you!! Best of luck in your endeavors!
