    What's worse is that the Korean media outed some of the victims. So while the victims have to face shame and harassment for what they endured, those who viewed and bought the material get to stay anonymous. It's infuriating.

      Yep, Korean's media is equally fcked up as well. You'd be surprised if you know how they've actually ruined people's lives. They don't care, as long as they have content to publish. Even when the news they delivered are proven untruthful at the end, they would never corrected it to let the public know how they messed up, and they never apologize either.

    when this whole situation was being brought into light, my aunt who lives in S. Korea would constantly remind me that I need to be careful around men. I can't imagine how worried she was for me as I was the only niece that was closest to the average age of the victims in this situation. It's even more sickening for me because S.Korea's justice system does almost nothing to expose the perpetrators when they're a well known celebrity or higher up official.

  • @lxxxm

    I currently live in Korea and this story really shook people up. But honestly not enough. The punishment that attackers get here is shocking, most people who attempt sexual assaults/or even do them get a slap on the wrist as they’re seen as being intoxicated or not thinking clearly at the time and usually the person attacked who are usually women are told to forgive the person so they can move on with their life, and yet if they don’t want to forgive they’re seen as a burden and a nuisance. Even when I had an introduction to Korea I was told flat out if I was assaulted or attacked do not fight back, if I hit or fight or leave a mark on a Korean person even if I am the victim I would be to blame as the justice system will side with the Korean person no matter what. It is a very safe place to live, walking around a night doesn’t feel scary or dangerous at all. But seeing how a place I see as a home treats cases like this or others like it, it’s really sad :(

If people actually knew the statistical data, or even knew that the research was done and its conclusion, they would be pushing for reformation immediately. But like most things of such magnitude that shine a light on the true underbelly of society and culture, this report was swept under the rug thanks to teachers unions and the corporate media.

      @@Hy-jg8ow way to discredit people who have been victimized by cisgender women! and i'm not just talking about (cisgender) male victims, i'm talking about cisgender women who take advantage of, grope, and defile other cisgender women. straight women, bisexual women, lesbians, they can all assume either position in the abuser-victim dynamic. there is no identity you can claim to have that will make you immune to being a terrible person.
      a sidenote as to why i am using the word "cisgender" for the uninitiated: their usage of the word "males" and willingness to assume that women are just inherently morally pure in comparison to men by virtue of being women (aka bioessentialism) indicates to me that they have a seriously unchecked hatred of trans women developing within them. i feel no need to tell them that trans women can be rapists when they 100% already believe that _all_ trans women are rapists. no normal person froths at the mouth about "males" and specifically "males", it's a red flag.
      to any trans women and trans girls reading this, i love you. you're beautiful (or handsome if you prefer that word) and very capable ladies who are always a joy to interact with in my communities.

    the fact there were SO many people, especially men, who knew about these rooms and kept it to themselves is beyond sickening. Never believe that you can spot the monsters, they always hide well in society. They need a perfect facade to get away with what they do. I truly want these people exposed and suffer for the rest of their lives. I have no doubt this is just 1% of what's really happening. There's people more powerful than those who were caught who are most likely still out there, or just got away due to the lax laws and will live their life eating dinner and getting jobs like the rest of us. This is when something like vigilantism would be useful, because the law will not or cannot give the proper punishment that these monsters deserve. I really hope the victims who were identified were able to get help from the authorities, their identies protected, and a chance to have their lives repaired. The children of the people who were posting abuse need to be taken out of that home and given assistance and screenings. Those teachers and professors who were caught need to have their whole history checked to see if there were any other victims who were not filmed (most likely). This doesn't end with just the chatrooms, or the videos, or the perps. A single vile person can ruin the lives of hundreds. And in this room we had thousands so just imagine the numbers.

    • @nobu4565
      @nobu4565 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know you’re enraged at what happened and rightfully so, but vigilantism is not the answer. Fiction portrays them to be great heroes, but many times it’s not the case. And usually, these vigilantes commit crimes such as vandalism or murder yet since they wear the mask of being a “vigilante” it’s suddenly ok. Vigilantism is the wrong answer. Reforming the justice system is the right way to go about it.

    Hi. I wanna say you did a very good job with this video, it's really informative. It's so sad and outraging in so many levels. I'd just like to point out the person shown in 7:01 has no sexual abuse allegations against him, that's been clarified already. I do not pretend to shift the focus to that part only because the main topic is the NTH room case, but since these topics are very serious and sensitive, I think accuracy of all information is necessary so we don't associate these allegations with people that are not accused of it.
    What he really is accused of is prostitution mediation (consensual prostitution) and even though is illegal in SK, the women are professional workers who are not victims of any abuse but of a system that criminalizes them.
    Also I wanna add that Burning Sun case has nothing to do with this NTH room case.
    Lastly, I really hope all the victims in this case get justice and can heal and go on with their lives

    Thank goodness those 2 journalism women continued investigating and the police were backing them properly. But damn those celebrities shoud've been exposed.
