- Celestine Chaney was one of 10 people shot and killed by Payton Gendron on May 14, 2022. On February 15, 2023, Gendron was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

My heart goes out to this man. You can hear in his voice the pain and the compassion he had for his mother, Celestine Chaney. Hopefully he and his family can find peace and promote the great values his mother blessed others with. My heart is with you, Wayne. Stay strong for you and the family and friends.
This guy clearly took a different approach. He humanized this monster. He made us think about his parents and what damage the internet is doing to this monster. Acknowledging that he’s to young to understand hate. Calling him bro?!! This man is more evolved than I would ever be. Anyone would be lucky to know this gentleman. Sorry for his loss..
These poor people. I am glad they give them a chance to speak even though the killer is just ignoring it all. It must feel like a little bit of relief.

New York doesn’t have the death penalty. He’s facing it in the federal case though.
I am going to leave this here for anyone who wants to be negative, "throw shade" or "trolling" .. this isn't acting or a racial driven cause. This is a fellow man hurting from the loss of his mother which sounded like an amazing woman.

Just look at some of the unhinged hatred that piled up in less than 15 minutes under a video of a black man remembering his murdered mother. It's a sick society where horrors like this can happen and a sicker one still where such horrors are celebrated.

it is true though, the internet did brainwash him. All the collective thoughts of all the negativity in one place for him to read over and over and over, and to think he had "support." Yet when it came down to pay the price, he's the only one paying it and all those families of people he recklessly took. He is only 19, there's no way in hell he had experienced enough genuine black people to understand. It's just so senseless.

Mr Jones was wearing a cross. He missed a HUGE opportunity to share the gospel with this young man. The killer needs to repent, not just say he's sorry, and get saved. Jesus is merciful.
