7:01 Supertue the format ur confused about is that 34th street on 7/8th Ave. what happens is that there’s a format with local trains on one side platform per direction and the express has its own island platform. It’s the same exact format at Barclays Center 2/3/4/
(4)(5)(6) Take the (4) train from 149 Street - Grand Concourse to 138 Street - Grand Concourse. Then take the (5) train to 125 Street. Finally, take the (6) train to Parkchester - E 177 Street.
(2)(7) (B)(R)(A)(W)(L)(Z) 1. Take the 2 to Times Square - 42nd Street 2. Take the 7 to 5th Avenue - Bryant Park 3. Take the B to Dekalb Avenue 4. Take the R to Cortlandt Street - World Trade Center 5. Take the A to 42nd Street - Port Authority Bus Terminal 6. Take the W to 14th Street - Union Square 7. Take the L to Broadway Junction 8. Take the Z to Jamaica Center - Parsons/Archer 9. Enjoy Jamaica Center!
Idea: Start at 145 Street (3) to 148 St - Lenox Terminal Walk across Harlem River to Yankees - E 153 St Metro - North to Grand Central (S) Shuttle to Times Square (N)(W) to Astoria - Ditmars Blvd Edit: you can’t take the 3 northbound from 145, so you could start at 148, a really cool station
Get the 4 from 149th street grand concourse to 161st street Yankee stadium. Then get the D to Fordham road. Then walk to Fordham Metro North Railroad station and get the Metro North Railroad to Woodlawn Metro North Railroad station. Then walk to 233ed st and get the 2 to Wakefield 241st street. Then Get the Bx39 bus to Parkchester. Then get the 6 to Grand Central. PLEASE DO MY SUGGESTION. I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS.
The reason there isn't an across-the-platform transfer between local and express is because, when the eight avenue line was built they assumed that 34 street would be one of the busiest stations. They didn't want extra people on the platforms waiting to transfer between express and local, so they set up the platforms in a way to disincentivse transferring at 34 street. Because there are no local stops between 34 street and 42 street, they believed it would not inconvenience any riders to instead transfer at 42 street. They believed that 42 street would have less platform overcrowding than 34 street and therefore they wanted people to transfer at 42nd instead.
Which is dumb, cuz it makes passenger service slower and it makes people miss trains more. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I want one of the busiest stations/connection hubs in Manhattan to be shut down to be renovated. The WHOLE station.
I should do ADF1CE321 A to 59 St-Columbus Circle D To Bryant Pk-42nd St F to 14th St 1 to 42nd St-Times Square C to 34th St (do a quick walk 3 to 96th St 2 to 34th St 1 to The last Stop 242nd St - Van Courtlandt Pk
34th Street is for accessing Penn Station. Island platforms were not used to avoid people crossing the platform with all of the people entering and exiting the station. You should have stayed on until 42nd St.
Near Fulton St to Park Place 5, A, B, C, 1, 2, 3 5 to Fulton St (Unless the other station is Fulton St) A to 145 St B to 125 St C to 59 St 1 to Times Sq/ 42 St 2 to 34 St/ Penn Station 3 to Park Place End at Park Place
I go to 34 Street station and literally I get myself in the Downtown and Brooklyn Bound Platform every time I go there! WHY MTA!? WHY DID YOU MAKE 34 STREET STATION SO COMPLICATED,AND CONNECT 34 STREET STATION ON BOTH 8TH AND 7TH AVENUES VIA A PASSAGEWAY THROUGH LIRR,AMTRAK, AND NEW JERSEY TRANSIT!? WHY!?
Better accessibility from LIRR, Amtrak, and NJT to either the 7th or 8th ave lines or you can walk to 6th ave for the Broadway/6th ave lines plus it's the original & unique design of the platforms mind the complications
Take the (E) train from World Trade Center to Jamaica Center, then take the N4/ N4X to Freeport LIRR Station, then take the Babylon Branch to.. well you know... Babylon. That’s my idea.

You should've taken the A to next stop so you can just transfer across the platform and you would get to the E anyway at 50 st
The 148st bound platform in 145 st has no entry because the next and last stop is 4 blocks away and an entry would be pointless
Idea:
Start at 145 Street

I believe it’s the same reason at the 7 Avenue 34 Street station and Atlantic Avenue on the 2, 3, 4, and 5
