  • Welcome to another fuel economy test with Azizdrives! Today, we’re conducting a real-life test to determine if an electric car, specifically the Mercedes-Benz EQS 53, is more cost-effective and practical than a petrol or diesel car. This test is designed for everyday users without the luxury of home charging stations. We’ll drive 50 km, charge the car, and see how much it costs, comparing it to traditional fuel prices. Join us for an honest and detailed review of the EQS 53, examining its performance, interior quality, and overall value for everyday users. Can electric cars truly replace conventional vehicles in real-world scenarios? Watch to find out!

    I think electric cars have their place in the car industry. Nobody can deny that they are nice when you have a house with solar panels and you use an electric car for short trips thru the city. But for example when I'm having a holiday/big trip, please...I'm an engineer...I don't want to do math in my free time..I do it at work.

    IMO Hybrids are the best. You can drive in traffic with the electric motor and on the highway you have plenty of fun. Could you maybe do one of these tests with Porsche Panamera Hybrid? I really like that car, and it would be awesome to see how it does in a mixt drive in the real world. Keep it up!

    Does it deserve the AMG badge? In my opinion, absolutely not... Maybe for driving the kids to school and to the office comfortably it will do the job, but lets be serious now, who the hell is going to wait so long for this shit to charge? It was on 87% and take 26 MINUTES to charge.... if you would go from 0 to 100% the kids will be in University by the time it is done charging 🤣 Not only this but then when something goes wrong with the battery, who will fix it for you?

    EV‘s might only be Good for short city trips and use it like a phone, charge it every night provided you have a house, which in Europe is pretty unlikely for the majority.

  • @KubiIay
    @KubiIay 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    What surprised me about EVs is that in reality you can only achieve about half of the estimated range. EV's depreciate hard due to their low demand on the market obviously. Lately I hear friends selling their EV's, because of the frequent (and very long) charging. So I researched online and found that electric cars tend to have higher consumption or struggle to reach their estimated range on highways. I found out that there's approximately a 25% range loss at 100 km/h and a 45% range loss at 130 km/h. This inevitably requires more frequent charging (that take a long time) when making long journeys. That's why EV's are the best in start-stop/city traffic situations imo.
    As for myself who's mostly on the highway, I’m currently leaning more towards hybrid cars. The reason is that the infrastructure for electric cars isn’t quite advanced enough and the range of an EV is horrible on highway speeds thus you're continously looking for a charger. Also, by utilizing a hybrid system, you’re not dependent on a single energy source. With the hybrid you use electric power for city driving and gasoline mode on the highway. That's why the take on hybrids were wrong where these people bought a hybrid to only end up driving with the electric drivetrain in the city for commutes... Hybrids shouldn't be seen as a tool to transition to a full electric future, but rather a solution where you can use both energy sources at their peak efficiency. That's why Toyota's hybrid was the most efficient car according to a study and are german car makers moving to a more hybrid solution rather than a full transition to EV.

    Usually, you don't charge an EV full, Takes longer in the last 20% or so and it's not good for the battery if not used directly afterwards.
    With an EV like that, you could commute an average distance of 30-40km/day and charge by the end of the week.
    Anyways, this is not a representative test by any means.

    So you have to wait 26 minutes for charging after a 25 minutes drive 😂 😂 enough time to fart in that vegan leather seats… 😉😃 (and before this ev fanboys write there smart-ass comments: I know at least the leather is real leather)… this car is a waste of leather and a waste of time. You can see the success of this EV when you takes look at the residual values.. just a write/rip off. Not more than a very expensive ideological decision to buy this car… the weight and the torque… how long will the tyres/the brakes last? I respect everybody’s decision to buy a car like this but it is not really a economical or environmental reason… it‘s a ideological one. Maybe the next iterations will improve the suitability for everyday use (inkl. costs)

  • @albnori

    I just want to mention that for batteries it is way harder to charge from 80 to 100 and usually takes as long as going from 0-80 unfortunately, so ideally like phones you keep the car before going to 100% if you don't do long trips, this way the battery it will be protected and you would not have to wait a million hours in charging stations.

    I don't give a flying.... which one is cheaper but at least make the test even slightly fair to the EV. 80-100 charge takes forever due to charging curves of these batteries. It's absolutely insane to sit at a fast charger going from 80 somethint to 100% as most of these chargers also charge you for the time spent.
    I'm a petrolhead but not knowing this is just plain lazy and knowing it and still doing the test like this is just misleading on purpose.

    • @azizdrives
      @azizdrives  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Alright then explain to me the difference in cost, when it gives it 10% of charge, the purpose of the test was not the time consumption but the cost as you can see even in the title saying is it really cheaper? 12kwh are 12kwh no matter if they are from 30-45% or from 85 - 99%

    • @PatchedBandit
      @PatchedBandit 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@azizdrives You sure the charger was only charging for kWh and not any additional charge for the time you spent plugged in?
      Either I'm stupid or you didn't go through the whole cost aspect on the video.
      My point is that going from 80 to 100% takes forever.. going from 10 to 30 takes almost no time at all and if the charger is costing additional money for time plugged in this test is kinda giving off a weird result.
      99% of ev owners would ever be sitting on a quick charger at +80% if they care about the cost.
      I don't even ride an EV and not planning on buying one either but this test seemed a BIT biased 😁
      But I can respect the youtube hustle of baiting petrolheads to chant in the comments how bad EV's are

    Hey Aziz Love your videos!
    But: in my opinion an elecrtic car is way less expensive!
    You drive it during the day. And charge it with „nachttariv“ electricity prices in your rental garage.
    And dont forgett to mention the service cost.
    I dont know the prices for a Bentley or your M6 v10 but i think they are immense.
    You dont have that with a electic cars.

      Hi friend, thanks for your comment. I get your point. It's like with the nitro reef, but my point was that if you have to drive 300 kilometers to somewhere like Austria or Germany, you need to plan where to charge along the way, especially if you're unfamiliar with the area. There's a lot to consider and plan. I agree, a Bentley isn't cheaper to own than an electric car, but which one makes you happier? Danke für de kommentar

    this is the most stupid and pointless clip i have ever seen in my life, no normal person with an electric car would ever do that, eqs owners will charge the battery overnight at home and only charge at ionity on long trips , and when they go a long trip they will use the mercedes me connect card which will offer them prices at a third of what you paid at ionity, and there is one more thing, no one will charge from 87% to 99%, when the battery is cold and anyway after 85% it charges very slow and doesn't charge quickly anymore
