    How do you keep that pressure on your line when you're fishing? Nobody addresses this. I cast forty yards of line and just reel it in with no pressure when fishing.

    • @bassresource
      @bassresource  ปีที่แล้ว +11

      When you get a backlash, the line that's tangled is on the spool, not what you cast out. This technique addresses the line that's on the spool after the cast.

    To people new to using Braid, don't forget that you can get two uses out of it! Braid has nearly no memory, so if you flip the line around (I use two empty water bottles) and reel it back on the spool you have fresh Braid on your reel without spending and you're actually using the line that "never sees the light of day" on the base of your reel. Hope this helps

    I get the comment about backing, but this makes sense too. When it's time for new braid, spool it directly onto another reel. The used braid the becomes the backing on the new spool and the unused braid is on top and ready to go. Another added benefit is you can use the drag on the old reel instead of using a towel to keep it tight.

    A good ideas to put line on your reel is a bolt (1/4" or 5/16") with a fairly stiff spring and wingnut. Put your spool of line on the bolt (you can use various spacers for different size spools) and tighten up the wingnut to put tension on the spring. That should give you enough tension on the line when you are filling your reel. Works for me.

    "Put a pencil through the spool and then hold it with your feet" - I had to chuckle at that bit, I've spooled my reels using that method so many times. Often when you accidentally go too fast you have to just watch as the spool of line comes loose and makes a run for it ;)

    Great tip on tightening line when spooling. I had trouble with braid the first time I spooled it on a new Diawa Tatula doing just what you said. Since I've been using mono as backing and trying to guess at half a spool (75 yds ) in order to have line left to replace old line in future. Doing your way without backing & then reversing it onto another reel is great tip and I can fill reel & get same amount of use out of 150 yd spool. Just ordered some power pro super slick v2 in black for my Curado DC so I will give your method a try. Thanks for the advice and keep those videos coming.

    Oldie but a goodie! Been thinking about investing in a spooling station. I had a die hard saltwater fisherman show me to use a book. I put the line in a decently weighted book for tension and spool thru my rod and then to my reel.
    The more pages you use, the tighter the tension. As it creates fair amount of resistance.

    Thanks for the video. Every other video seems to be about spooling braid onto a backer to "save money". To me this just seems silly unless you have a large number of rods you need to spool at once. Braid is about $10-15 for the length I need, and I spool like once per reel (4 reels) every 1-2 years, staggering it. Cost just isn't an issue, and I'm broke a joke.

    Nicely done. Tight spool explained very well. Only adjustment is the type of tape to ensure the braid will not slip on the smooth spool. Tape a layer on the spool to provide a grip zone. I prefer Tuck tape for base and over knot. Mono backing is economical just ensure you cover the knot to avoid issues down the road (experience talking)

    Once you cast out wouldn't the line fill the spool allot looser than when you first put the new line on?

    • @bassresource

      To be sure, the "casted line" won't pack back as tightly as when you first put it on. But the problem is braid digging in the spool way past the "casted line" part. This method prevents that from happening. Enjoy!

    Glen I use braid all the time and I spool it tight when I put it on my reel then when I start throwing my bait after awhile that line is no longer tight and it will bird nest how do you keep your line tight on the spool while fishing and I like all the tips you give Thanks!!

    • @bassresource
      @bassresource  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Charlie. This method of spooling the line is not meant to eliminate backlashes, but rather reduce the severity of a backlash. In particular, it prevents the line from digging into itself, and reduces how deep into the spool a backlash will go. That said, yes, the first part of the line that has been used for casting doesn't spool back on tight. So that can and will backlash if your reel isn't dialed in correctly and/or you cast too hard.

      It should be fine. Just pause every now and then to avoid heat build-up.

    im so happy to watch this video. but i have one question sir,since i am very very new using baitcaster..should i put directly the lure to my main line?after setting up main line to the reel,should i attach directly the lur to it?or should i need a swivel?please looking forward on your reply.

    • @bassresource
      @bassresource  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tie directly to your lure. Good luck!

  • @banffspring72
    @banffspring72 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is it true that you need to move your fingers (Terry cloth) back and forth for uniformity or does the tightness you presented gives braided lines its uniformity?

    • @bassresource
      @bassresource  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do not move the line. The reel does that for you.

    if you use maybe like 10,15 even 20 or so LB braid and you catch a big fish, it can cause the braid line to sink in the reel while reeling in the fish? i know the line wont be as tight after you cast your line when you first spooled it....

    • @bassresource
      @bassresource  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be sure, the "casted line" won't pack back as tightly as when you first put it on. But the problem is braid digging in the spool way past the "casted line" part. This method prevents that from happening. Enjoy!

    What pound test are you using here, and what pound or type of leader are you using with it?

    • @bassresource

      It's 50lb test in the video, and no leaders.
