      Incredible. Is there even a point to use the edger attachment on my Ryobi for concrete sidewalk grass edging, or should I just go all in on these rotary scissors? I really think this thing is amazing for getting that part that hangs on the side of the edge that grows slightly taller and it never cuts flush with the mower. So happy I saw this video. Should help put the finishing touches on my hybrid Bermuda lawn.

      @Kicking World Kicking Camps that is the big thing for me is the fringe that hangs over. A regular edger just doesnt get it and a string trimmer just isnt clean enough. I would go with these for sure. Make sure to ask for kathyvor scott when you call seago to get the discount. They will confirm thaf it works on your machine. Which i would imagine it does!

      @@TheNeighborDominator I can confirm this. I live in an area where proper lawn care is not common and can really feel pointless, as due to neighbors allowing weeds to run rampant, it's impossible to avoid major infestations of clover, Canadian thistle and dandelion. Here we have a lot of bluegrass and tall fescue so really tightly cut lawns are not too common, we are generally better off with a 3"-4" cut, but we can have some nice, rich and plush carpets here.
      I've taken back my yard, which got neglected due to frequent long times away from the home and major renovations taking up time and leaving materials all over the yard, which was nasty to the grass. My entire block has nearly 18" overgrowth over the public sidewalks. Since we are done most projects, I started properly edging, and keeping both my lawn and my two next door neighbor's lawns (one the lady died and my other neighbor is just a good neighbor I will help out any way I can). The one side of my lawn was enclosed in railway ties from the old owners and was "maintenance free" (i think it just meant 'we didn't maintain it') and is just mulch overrun with the previously mentioned popular regional weeds, the other side is now becoming more and more manicured, as well as the neighbor's yards. Even though a good portion of our lawns are invested with clover and dandelion (i'm doing my best to round up the thistle network entirely) the edging makes a world of difference. Especially compared to the sidewalk where I stopped edging and all the overgrowth is still there. The weeds are much less of an eyesore in the scope of things. That will be a project for next spring.

I need to take mine apart and clean. I put to the test and cut all the tall grassy like plants under one of my trees. I scalped the area to the dirt and let me tell you how gunked up and sticky they are. 🤣 They did a great and fast job for sure. Might even grab a set up new blades to have on hand. Now you can flip the attachment in a more comfortable position. I did this same trick on my weed walker attachment. So the motor sits flat vs having to go vertical.

      I have had these for 1 years and haven't had an issue. My yard is 80%sand and 20%dirt and get sand in it. I've watched some foreign videos on this thing and they beat the heck out of it, grinding on cement, under water, etc. Mine is still sharp. I just make sure to give it a little cleaning after every use and keep it lubed up!

    Hi, an Aussie fan here. A change of topic here. I have a Liberty 43. I noticed you using one of those and a Stirling. I'm not 100% happy with the Liberty, it does OK, and my lawns look really good, but there are a few things like the quality of the build and the plastic parts. It is a bit light and this caused the back roller to spin when engaging the drive. Do you find the Stirling a better unit, and is it worth the extra money? Or are you happy with the Liberty

    • @TheNeighborDominator

      I loved the liberty. I wish it was a little heavier but I feel a grooved roller would have helped tremendously with the floating and traction problems. The Stirling is a premium machine and love it but the price does hurt the bank account for sure. But for a new machine and the width of cut it is reasonable in my opinion. Especially with the quick cartridge exchange. But this are expensive too. If you are committed then that machine is priceless!

    I have a Fiskar Max Sharp reel mower and it's beautiful except when you have weeds that grow tall really quickly, as the adjustment bar pushes them down and they don't spring back into the blades, meaning you have perfectly manicured grass, and a bunch of tall weeds. Shame too, it's an amazing mower. Those power reel mowers look amazing though. I will definitely be looking into adding those scissors to my arsenal though.
    That said, i find that starting with an edger is key, it brute forces that nice gap between the lawn and concrete, which then you can keep clean with a string trimmer. Especially when dealing with heavy overgrowth that will do nothing but tear up your string.
    A tip for string edging is to kind of stage with the spindle at rest, and use a slower speed so you can see your strings, and stand on the grass when possible and/or safe to do so, that way you are cleaning up the inside of the concrete and minimizing any digging with the string. Once you're spotted, just slowly walk in whatever direction you intend to, I find that moving in the same direction as the string is pushing material is best but sometimes not possible. Also, don't buy cheap string.

    • @TheNeighborDominator
      @TheNeighborDominator  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Definitely don't buy cheap string. I am not a fan of using a string trimmer to edge. I can do it but the results are not as clean as this tool. I'm a nutball about edging. I do agree starting with an edger to establish the space but after...this saw blade is killer💪🏾

      @@TheNeighborDominator Oh yeah those scissors look like an amazing tool, I was just saying, I've picked up some pretty good tricks to get some pretty mint edges. That said, a lot of grasses up here don't do well with a really tight cut, I think the rye grass does alright but that's almost a placeholder until whatever it is mixed with takes root, to help prevent weed infestations. I love the trick for leveling out the grass near the walks though. the lump left by mowers due to the wheels being on concrete and not the dirt drive me nuts and that makes a much cleaner cut than trying to keep string level.

    I have 2 questions I want to ask.
    First, since tenacity ain't it, did you find a go-to weed killer that wont harm grass?

    • @TheNeighborDominator
      @TheNeighborDominator  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      One, I'm working on finding the right one. I used Tenacity to stunt poa but am looking at finding a killer that doesn't cost 500$
      2nd, you have to train the lawn. When you cut it short it will be lighter in color. But if you stick with it, the yellowing will go away, and the grass learns it's new height.
      You have to stay on top of it though, you let it get long again, you start the process over again! Hope this helps
