Welcome to The Frey Life daily vlogs! We are Peter & Mary, a married couple in our early 30's, showing the ups and downs of everyday life with #CysticFibrosis, a genetic lung disease that Mary was born with. In August 2019, Mary started a new CF medication that changed the trajectory of our future, and we are now in the process of growing our family through domestic infant #adoption. We have an adorable standard poodle, Oliver, and a hairless sphynx cat, Harry. It's our hope that these videos can be an encouragement to to celebrate the little things in life and find joy amidst a world full of hard realities!

Mary said “our baby” and I burst into tears. How can I be so emotional about a couple and a baby that I know through the internet? The Frey Life Family is having a baby!! 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Yes! I feel exactly the same way! "We" are having a baby! :)
I feel the same way. All the tears they’re crying, they have so many of us crying with them. It’s so well deserving and I can’t wait to see them both grow into the next phase in their life. God is so good ❤️
Oh my gosh, I absolutely love love love how happy they both are and the beautiful emotions when Peter was thinking about being a Daddy. They have such beaautiful hearts full of love. My heart is exploding just watching them go through the adoption process!!

I was adopted myself and I couldn't be more thankful to my birthmother for choosing to place me for adoption. I have had a wonderful life! I also work at an adoption agency because of how adoption changed the life from the life I would have had to the life I have. I think it is wonderful that you are in a place where you feel ready to adopt. I wish you all the happiness that comes with adoption!
Same here. Me and my twin. I think the same thing very often. I’m so lucky to have the life I have and know out birth family would keep us if they were able. They did what was best for us to have the best life possible.

So happy for you! We pursued adoption after 5 years of infertility, that was 10 years ago. Now we have four children through open adoption. It’s a crazy, wild ride! 🥰

I still remember the day the gentleman doing our home study said "You are now emotionally pregnant. Eight months later we had a wonderful baby in our arms. I wish you all that same happiness!
Congratulations! So happy for you guys. I was married for 15yrs with fertility issues and finally with IVF had my precious twin girls last November. :)
My son was 36 when he had his first child and 37 for the second. He was ready to be a dad, calm and oh so good. His wife is such a good mom.

@I'm Just Me Hi! I guess you aren’t aware that this is not the first adopted child for this extended family. Mary’s sister & husband also adopted so I’m guessing that they are fully aware of the process. I’m choosing to be happy for them! They are good people!

Kindness and hope and goodness are the guideposts by which you have lived your lives and now, to share it with such a dream, as a child... it’s just a perfect grace to show the world! Back in 1988 when we went thru this our “profile book” consisted of a one page story and one picture!! (Plus a couple pages of personal info!!)

I am struggling so bad with infertility and when Mary said “there’s a baby growing in your heart” I absolutely broke down. They grow so strong even when they’re not in our arms yet. So happy for them! I can’t wait to see their beautiful journey. I would love to know more about the home study- we might take this journey too! 💛
Ok, so you both are talking about early and mid-July, so....you're just teasing us with uploads? I'm wondering if they already have the baby! The process is so fun to watch, no matter what. I'm watching every day for a new video!

I don't think they have a baby yet and probably won't for a while. I imagine they wanted to wait to upload videos until they knew they had been approved and had had time to process things with each other and with their families.

Peter, it’s ok to be emotional! This has been your heart’s desire for so long, even though you didn’t think it would happen. But the Bible says, Delight thyself also in the Lord, and He shall give thee the desire of thine heart. (Psalm 37:4) That’s happening for you, and I’m so excited for you! Ahhh! (I’m squealing like Mary has been doing! I love Mary’s squeals of delight!)
I am so excited for you! You could tell that you had resolved to not have kids (which I totally respect and understand) but that you wanted to share your love with a small human.

Make sure you get puppy training pads to put under the crib sheets in case of night time accidents! Make like 3 layers with puppy pad sheet, puppy pad sheet, etc., so you don't have to mess about when you're sleepy
When Peter and Mary cry tears of joy we all cry tears of joy. When I say I've been thinking of you for the last couple of days I mean it. I am SOOOOOO happy for you and can't wait to meet your new little one (because common, who doesn't want to choose you awesome people as their mommy and daddy ❤)

So excited for you guys. It seems so much quicker and easier in the US. Here in the UK you have classes, peer group meetings, home studies, extended family interviews, background checks, medical checks. It all takes between 18 - 24 months to “go to panel” where all the paperwork is reviewed by representatives from multi departments. Then, if you are approved ( and you are told eg. One child aged 2-5 years or something similar), you can finally start the matching process which can take weeks or months. Then there is the change over days which is usually between 1-2 weeks where you gradually assume more care of the child, before they finally move into the adoptive home. I should add that there are only a handful of newborns available for adoption each year in the uk, but because of our system here, the babies go to foster care to begin with as a birth mother cannot sign over her baby until it is at least six weeks old. Babies can quite easily spend a couple of years in foster care before being placed for adoption, so if you want to adopt a newborn here in the uk you would have to go down the ‘foster to adopt’ route. The US process seems much better in that newborns go directly to their adoptive family, allowing for bonding during the early vital weeks.

I'm a child development major and work in the nursery schools. It's busy busy busy and it's so great to watch the babies grow to be toddlers then pre schoolers and then pre school graduation. It's hard to let em go I so love my job. I will become a foster parent of babies when I retire. I used to work at Polinsky Childerns Center In San Diego. These child come there when talen out of the home it's before foster care. You will be great parents congratulations 👪👍👍.

It was great to see you were able to adopt. My neighbor adopted and was told you couldn’t have any health issues, not even migraine headaches. It’s good to know that’s not always the case.
