Yeah that was the whole reason I came here. I already have my video. I skipped through it anyhow but
reported this video for misleading caption.
So with OBS studio u can't edit cut/crop videos, you just make them, basically . U need another software to adjust them. Crap :|

You didn't explain how to edit videos.
I wanna make speedpaints. So I need to know if and how I can speed up the recording but leave the audio unedited.
I'd also like to be able to cut the video in several recordings without ending up having more videos on my file.
Hey man, sorry for the confusion, but you would edit the recorded videos in your video editor of choice. Like Vegas Pro, Premiere or similar.
Yeah, well, I don't have any of those.
I only have Windows Movie Maker and it sucks. :/

Yeah, i feel your pain. I know for sure there is a free version of Davinci Resolve www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve its suppose to be a beast of an editing program

Just one thing in this tutorial since i'm using a laptop OBS studio gives me a message that the output being mp4 the file is unrecoverable in power loss and BSOD situations and my electric is only like 4 hours every 12 hours so what alternative serves best other than mp4.
The Master you can choose to flv or mkv format and those will not correct if the recording ends suddenly

Where in the timeline did you show how to edit? Can you cut and crop recorded MP4s made in OBS?
No. I think OBS is primarily an advanced video recording software. No editing.

Hi Lo, This video was so helpful for a novice like me. The only problem I am having is that when recording starts I get a few seconds of the OBS screen before my display comes up. I am recording the display of Manycam. Made my first video. Thanks a lot for clear basic instruction.

AugDylan - Clash Royale yes there is a way, but you'll need additional hardware to get the feed into your pic or capture device. Unless your pc had a mirroring function

abass pater hey, they are talking about your video card. NVENC is if you have an Nvidia Graphics card and AMD is if you an AMD graphics card. If you are not sure, you can pick to use CPU only and it will by pass your graphics card. But it's basically telling you to have the latest drivers for your graphics card. Hope it helps.

I kind of have a problem with OBS Studio, I have it working just fine, and I'm trying to record what I do on my computer and when I'm recording it's running 100% smooth as it should. HOWEVER! When I pull up the video on my computer to view it, it's really um, jumpy? I skips around a lot, like the audio is fine but the display is really laggy so to speak. Anyone got any ideas on why?
i have a feeling its the latest update, my OBS does the opposite, jumpy audio smooth picture
did you go into the (files>settings>Output then in there change your video bitrate (mine is at 2800) but I'm but no means any good at using this program but that might help you out.

After recording you have to open the file in an editing program? Does OBS have basic editing?

Thanks for the helpful tutorial video - just a quick question: how do use the cursor to select the portion of the screen i want to record, rather than the default of recording the entire screen?

1440p is NOT 2k. 1920 x 1080 is 2k. 1440p is 2.5k or just quadHD
No i have to respectfully disagree with you. 2k is basically twice 1080p, hence 2k and 4k is 1080p times 4. Just saying, i have a 4k TV and a 2k Monitor. But i know for sure, 1080p is not 2k
1920 is almost 2000, 3840 is almost 4000, hence 2k and 4k. the 'k' stands for horizontal, not vertical

I have few questions the video your on is that a web cam or a cam you have i notice other youtubers start off as a big picture then they make there video small . Do you have to connect your web cam first then go to obs i really like this new way of editing its so easy

Thanks for this video. It was very informative to learn how to stream capture with OBS as an alternative to Camtasia. However, being this application does not have video edit tools like Camtasia, is there an alternative (to Camtasia) you can recommend to do basic video edits subsequent to a stream capture? when I save the file, the icon turns into a paper icon and it opens up 'To Audio Converter'. is this supposed to happen? if not, how can i fix . this?

i would like to loop between several prerecorded videos, so that if one video is finished obs automatically grabs the next one and starts with the first video again once all videos are played, creating a continous loop. right now i have one szene and 3 source videos but the videos in the source get played at the same time and i dont want that... any suggestions?
