Oooof, I remember that season. It was difficult to watch and even before clicking on this video, I knew exactly what it would be about. They went down early that season, everyone saw it coming but that didn't make it any easier.
As a Saints fan, I remember how close we got to knocking Derby out of the 2007 playoffs in the semi final. We ended up losing on penalties. It could have been very different!
The proper baller move would have been to come out and say that neither the players nor himself were good enough and that the board had led down the fans.
Yeah, what the video doesn't cover is that Billy Davies had been trying to get fired from the second we got promoted. A lot of interviews of players at the time have said that he thought that he had no chance in the premier league anyway so he wanted to get a pay out and go back to Preston, which was always the team that he had wanted to go up with. Billy had stretches in his management where he was very successful, but he was also extremely erratic because of his paranoia. Apparently whenever a plane would fly over the training ground he would rush the players inside as he thought they where being spied on, and he would play random tests on players so that he could be sure they where loyal.
Thank god that Benny Feilhaber found success over here back in America. He played great and found a lot of success with Sporting KC during his time and actually after a year of retirement, just signed to be on SKC’s technical staff.
This Derby team was absolutely tragic and it's likely no one will ever achieve a lower points total. Sheffield United have been horrendous this season and they will still get more points than that Derby team
My personal opinion, Aston Villa 2015-16 was the worse team, I have never seen a team look so spineless. They had good players (good enough to stay up anyway ), every game they never tried no backbone in the team whatsoever. This Derby team while being awful and statistically the worse, the team let’s be honest was ridiculously out of their depth none of the players were premier league quality they were just crap. There were games where they tried their hardest and played with a spine and passion other games where they got thumped but at least they turned up compared to that villa team
2:58 It’s when you look at this that you realise just how lucky hearts are to have somehow ended up: only through extraordinary luck, with the best player in Scotland. How Gordon was ever left by the old firm and other bigger league sides is beyond me.
I'm not a Derby fan, but this is a disgrace, the way they treat their own fans. I'm sure Derby are like every other club and have supporters who spend their money home and away games, always hoping for something better, but it doesn't come. I totally empathize with Derby fans.
I mean that was a weak year but there were strong promoted sides then as well, West Ham and Wigan both made the top half in 06. This year we have Leeds who are patchy & then two pretty dire ones
It's hard not to wonder what could have been if Billy's Forest team of 09/10 had gone all the way. There were weaknesses, but he united that group much the same way he did with Derby. Plus, I can't see the owner at the time (Nigel Doughty) really being able to financially support a decent summer transfer window. Whether they'd be as bad as Derby though remains to be seen. Billy was a loose cannon in both of his reigns at Forest so no doubt there'd have been something
You know your team is doomed when they hire Danny Mills as a mid season improvement. The best thing Stuart Pearce did was to turf that waste of oxygen out of my club.
Derby should've become a perennial powerhouse like Liverpool, if only Sam Longson had put his pride and ego away and let Brian and Peter build an empire.

@@jayremi755 there on 5 pts at the halfway point of the season, and their next 7 are as follows: Man Utd, Man City, West Brom, Chelsea, West ham, and an improved Fulham, and liverpool 😨😨
@@espben360 💀
@@espben360 Yes but they aren't getting battered every week like Derby did. Majority of their losses have been by one goal margins.
@@mansourabubaker8411 That's true. At least they are competetive, and put up a fight every week.
i remember this season like it was yesterday. i was 11 years old playing for reading youth academy and then me and my family moved to derby the season they were promoted, i was so excited as i couldn't find much else to be excited about with the thought of laving my life at reading behind... and then derby county proceeded to massively disappointed me to the point where i was invited to try for the youth team and almost didnt want to go lol never the less i grew to love derby county football club and they are close to my heart.
Know straight away it has to be Derby...
I love you tifo, this channel keeps me going !
I think this video is an inspiration to Sheffield United ❤️
You were right.
Yabloodydamnright :) Up the Blades!
Yet they beat United. Who knows how things will end?
What is the name of that tape? I mean for research purposes.
Maybe x x tape
I would also like to know the name of that tape, on behalf of a friend.
Its called Derby's 07-08 season 🤣
🥳@@amadhatter3280
Jewell's family jewels
After watching this it seems 11 points was a massive points haul for Derby
Oooof, I remember that season. It was difficult to watch and even before clicking on this video, I knew exactly what it would be about. They went down early that season, everyone saw it coming but that didn't make it any easier.
As a Saints fan, I remember how close we got to knocking Derby out of the 2007 playoffs in the semi final. We ended up losing on penalties. It could have been very different!
Sheffield United: (Taking so many L's this year)
Derby County: *Finally, a worthy opponent!*
But now they've beaten man united
Things you love to see
I’m proud to say I was at the Derby 1 Bolton 1 to witness one of those precious points 😩🙈
Music to a Forest fans ears 👌
Fans owned Clubs are better in terms of ambitions of the club and taking the right decisions for the club.
We've had that with Mel Morris for last few years and it hasn't worked well
love that you have went back too the older format
@@ramsuporter8 Strange fellow
It's been almost 13 years and this is still hilarious
Brief history of the teams to be never be relegated since EFL was established.
We actually had a championship team which is a shame cuz we had a decent team in the 80s n 90s
Fortunate to get more points. Newcastle and Man United gifted them 2 wins
I had so much hope when Kenny Miller scored that rocket to beat Newcastle. Highlight of the season, that.
My personal opinion,
Aston Villa 2015-16 was the worse team, I have never seen a team look so spineless.
We were shocking I agree and the players did not care that season and we had players that could have done better than that
2:58
It’s when you look at this that you realise just how lucky hearts are to have somehow ended up: only through extraordinary luck, with the best player in Scotland.
How Gordon was ever left by the old firm and other bigger league sides is beyond me.
Sheffield Utd would beat this record at ease. And they gonna do it in one of the weakest seasons of all EPL history.
They've already won twice, so I think it's highly unlikely they'll only get another two points before the end of the season.
we’re at 11 points now, eat your words
I always remember Swindon being absolutely shocking in the Prem..
I also remember Swindon’s one shocking season in the Prem!
Sheffield united "HOLD MY RELEGATION"
Sheffield United will finish on like 20 points
There is a very good book on this by Edgar Smith, called Bad, Worse, Worst, The Story of Derby County’s Record Breaking Season 2007/08.
We need a video on Tactical Periodization or an overview on the Leicester tactics this season
The last time I was here. Tifo had 500K Subs. These lot have grown a lot ever since then. Almost at 1 million now. Incredible!
They were such an average championship team in the premier league that season. Such a shame a proud club like Derby own that horrible record.
I recently watched their 5-1 demolition of Real Madrid with a Charlie George hatrick that was a great team.
Derby never recovered from this season. Owners don't care about this club, it should be given back to the fans
I'm not a Derby fan, but this is a disgrace, the way they treat their own fans. I'm sure Derby are like every other club and have supporters who spend their money home and away games, always hoping for something better, but it doesn't come. I totally empathize with Derby fans.
You forgot the part where they nearly returned to the Prem in 2013, but they were denied by a 10 man QPR in the 90th minute... ZAMORAAA!!!!
The years when playing a newly promoted teams was a certain 3 points . Not anymore
I mean that was a weak year but there were strong promoted sides then as well, West Ham and Wigan both made the top half in 06. This year we have Leeds who are patchy & then two pretty dire ones
Unless you're Newcastle who only won 2 out of 6 games that season against newly promoted teams.
Billy Davies should have done the same as what Glenn Hoddle did when he won promotion with Swindon.
They might’ve been easy to beat, but their record will be almost impossible to beat. Legends 😁
Sheff U are going for it !
He barely was at derby. Had 2 games and then was injured so went back to city
@@tombardsley3081 He was always injured with City as well. Bloody useless he was!
Few remember Sir Brian Clough at Derby. They became PL title fighters and even European contenders at one point
Derby should've become a perennial powerhouse like Liverpool, if only Sam Longson had put his pride and ego away and let Brian and Peter build an empire.
For the record nobody call Derby “County” it’s Derby or The Rams or have I lost my mind?
I thought it was just the sheepshaggers tbh. thats all I've ever called them
@@flight2510 you're on about the Welsh or am I wrong?😕
Derby were so unprepared for the PL that year. It was an embarrassment.
Go Sheffield!!! If there's anyone who can break the record, it must be you!!!
Do you mean Sheffield United?
Oh my...poor Derby. This story is so sad it's hard to watch.

That was my best year in fantasy football. All you had to do was stack your team with players who were playing Derby and you would almost always score high. 😂

I remember they signed Sterjovski in that January transfer window. Crazy signing.

Would love to see championship stories from you regarding sporting lizbon, bjk, and dinamo Kiev for this crazy year ? All separately or together in one if that makes it easy.
I've always found it fascinating that Brits pronounce "Davies" as "Davis"and not "Dave-ees"
Davies can be both.
Just another nonsensical circumstance in the notoriously illogical British tongue lol phuquan scheupit langwidtch
I always thought that Davis was one way and Davies was the other but who knows
Pretty sure it's a Welsh thing that moved to the rest of the UK (8th most common surname in England?), but then again it's a Welsh name. "Dave-iss" is standard pronunciation.

As a Swindon fan, I'm very happy that a team had an even worse PL season than we did. Thankfully, no one ever talks about how bad our single season in the top flight was.
