The Walther PDP is a gun I took for granted when I first shot it. However, as I've continued to shoot it, I've come to one massive conclusion, every full-size gun should feel as good as the Walther PDP in my hands.
That's not to say that ergonomics are the Walther PDP's only saving grace. This gun has impressed me with its trigger, its weight, its capacity, its full-body features, how flat it shoots, and quite frankly, I can see the Walther PDP possibly becoming one of if not my favorite full-size workhorse handgun.

I picked one of these up for my 21st birthday, literally the day I turned 21. The guy at the store congratulated me on my first handgun and thanked me for picking something of quality and not a piece of crap.

I had a full-size,1st generation Baby Eagle that I had a mad 20+year love affair with, and it was the same thing as this Walther: from the second I picked it up, I never bought another handgun! I didn't need to, I didn't want to. It was perfect out of the box (except for the sights, which I rectified with factory 3-dots)
Sadly, it was stolen during a break-in, has yet to be recovered, and the current iteration of the BE just isn't the same.
So, I picked up a CZ P10C/LE model: its features are identical to the Walther, but I miss the BE so much, I've had the CZ 8 months now, and haven't fired it yet. It almost feels like I'd be cheating if I fired a younger handgun...☹

I love mine. You are right that it is light. I think the way the serrations are cut into the slide and the overall height of the slide gives the illusion that the gun would be heavy. Especially compared to a PPQ that has a more "traditional" or “softer” Walther slide look. Even with my light and red dot on it's still fairly light compared to my other pistols. I do wish they would include the slide plate in the box (at least for RMR mounts) but it didn’t take long to get it in, took 10mins to order and you get one free with the gun. This is by far the most ergo-friendly pistol I’ve shot in a while. Really reminded me of the VP9 when it first came out. The grip stippling and the slide cuts a very aggressive (intended more for gloved usage) but I’ve gotten use to it now and wish my other pistols were almost as aggressive. You will need to adjust your grip when racking the slide after a few times as it can eat your fingers or palm if not gripped correctly. That trigger is awesome, no mush on the take-up and a nice clean break at the end. Makes it very predictable.

I love my Walther PDP as well as My PPQ"s I already had the PPQ 9mm and 45 when I found a PPQ in 40 at an amazing price so I jumped on it. The PPQ 45 is one of the softest shooting and accurate polymer 45's I have used. I would take any of them to war. I must say that the Canik and H&K VP9 and VP40 which I also own all look like the same design team created them, lol. The PDP I only have about 250 rounds through without a issue and seems a bit more streamlined.

So I went and got the 4.in full-size 18 round much badder big bro I fell in love besides the sig p320 m17 I don’t think I’ve shot a gun as fast or capable then I put a hex dragonfly red dot on her things really started to pop off I could go on and on but bottom line walther hit it big with this one by far my favorite pistol in the collection

@Chris G In 2007 I bought a new 1st gen S&W M&P in 40 S&W but before I shot 100 rounds ,noticed a cracked slide and sent it back. Later had several failures to feed Fiochi truncated fmj that the Glock 22 fed flawlessly but I otherwise think the M&P is debugged by now.

I was considering the Walther Q5 Match before I recently bought my CZ Shadow 2, but I just don't like striker fired pistols at all. I also don't particularly like plastic framed pistols either, so the Q5 Match Steel Frame at least fixes one of those issues for me, but the steel frame version costs even more than my S2, and not to mention the mags are way cheaper for my S2.
I even dry fired an expensive Zev OZ9 at the store when I bought my S2. I was eager to see how good a $1,700 striker fired pistol could be, and I wasn't impressed at all. To be fair though, I had just dry fired a CZ Tactical Sports Orange, that has about a 24 ounce single action pull. That might have had an effect 😆

Run the PDP with an RMR red dot outside with a bunch of orange clays randomly strewn fast as you can and it's a dream. You don't have to measure the distance just get the front of the gun anywhere on the target and trust the trigger. It's super annoying to not have anything you can really point to on the features or whatever except watching a clay turn to dust more often than not in the mountains on a beautiful day with the river behind you just makes you smile.
