i'm the only subscriber who didn't comment yet, so here's engagement. Great explanation, didn't overstay its welcome, fun deck.
🙏 Thank you for your service friend. Glad you enjoyed it and hope you enjoy the next one.
I am glad you posted that this deck is fun to play with and against. I like aggro decks (if you like John Benton, try Samut, Vizier of Naktamun.... similar "turn cardboard sideways, draw cards" theme, but more go wide than voltron). I had heard John Benton was really powerful and I didnt want to build yet another deck that would be too powerful for my playgroup. This sounds like the fun makes it a bit better to play against.
Yeah he is an incredible amount of fun. Not every single person will like the play pattern, but I'd say 90% will based on my experience. And it's always fun because sometimes giving someone 15 cards may backfire for us, but that's part of the fun.
Wow this is fantastic. Subscribed!
Solid first video mah guy! Keep up the good work
🙏🙏🙏 Thanks! Hope you enjoyed it
Well done video, world needs more fun decks that people are happy to play against that also lead to quicker and more games played
"here for a good time not a long time" is my mantra
Noice vid man. Need more under 50 dollar commander decklist from you!
🙏 Thanks! Glad you liked it. Is $50 the sweet spot for you? Have a range of decks in the works, from $30, to $100 and above.
I've got a version of this deck except its enchantment based and the aim of the game is to mill the whole table, with commander damage turned off obviously. Hit everyone for a little, use cards like ogre of knollridge, angel of destiny and axis of mortality to stop opponents dying. Then on your final turn pump John and swing in, milling that player and the one you have a wedding ring on. Everybody lives on the stack and voila
This has big mad doctor vibes and I'm here for it. Love the creativity.
I got a buddy who made one of these decks, and it goes hard.
So very true
oh damn i didnt even realize was your first video
We take those
This is in no way a challenge, just a question to benchmark my own brewing practices; how many games have you played with SJB? Or at least how many games and modifications took place before assembling the video? Thanks a bunch for sharing your thoughts.
Good question. Sample size games is about 10. Typically I can tell what's working and what's not after 3-5 games though. The same again any time I'm testing new additions. Before that, I've goldfished the deck 50+ times in the brew process which solves 80% of the issues / refining outside of dealing with interaction, which those 10 games solve.
Goldfishing is arguably more important than actual games as the time spent vs information gained (reward) is so much higher.
Perfect breakdown of the deck. Most players don’t wait to have to protection in hand to back up casting him, and im aggro its just a matter of gambling based on the decks you’re against to see if they a) have the removal , b) will use it against you.
🙏 Glad you enjoyed it. I'm a control player by heart, so it's against all my instinct to tap out and be vulnerable to removal, but if it's the last game of the night, you better believe it's a good time not a long time and I'm tapping out with reckless abandon.
@@BasedDeckDept yeah it’s more like you can’t let your opponents finish setting up. Bc you’re so low to the ground and they aren’t it’s unlikely they’d forsake their arcane signet start or nature’s lore to deal with your commander. But if he’s already KOS then you’re better off waiting for the extra mana and card to protect him.
