The Ninja Turtles arcade game was how my stepdad bribed me and my brother before he proposed to my Mom. He had to have spent well over a $100 and we spent hours until we finally beat it in the arcade. 30 years later and he is still one of the finest men I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.

I remember playing the arcade version for what must have been hours in my local Pizza Hut as a kid. TMNT and Street Fighter II until the food was ready, then home to eat pizza and watch movies and play games rented from Premiere Video. Often this very NES port, in fact. Weekends were something special back then. Man, those really were the days.

OH MAN! This game brings back great memories. I used that coupon at my local Pizza Hut back in the day. I still remember it fondly because my mom was so happy that I was so happy. Those of us who grew up in the late 80's and 90's really did have the greatest time.

They really were very unique, special, and of course nostalgic times for sure. I was born in '79' so this is right uptown for me. I have to pull myself away at times because I get lost in those memories knowing they will never happen again. Nostalgia is both awesome and dangerous if not kept in check. At least for me they are.

One of my fondest video game-related memories was from when I was 9 years old in the early 90s. My family was visiting my dad's brother in another state. He had a son about the same age as me, and my dad, my uncle, my cousin and I went to the arcade and spent a big bag of quarters playing through this game in 4-player mode. After that, we HAD to pick up a pizza!

Easily one, if not the best NES games ever made. Everything about it. Level design, music, gameplay and even balance. Not too difficult that any kid with enough practice could beat it, but not easy or short that it would be boring.

I didn't even know you could dodge Shredder's de-mutation beam like that in the NES version. That's quite nifty!
Also, in the fight against Krang, if you wait for him to shoot his laser and then kick him almost immediately after his laser shot disappears, Krang won't retaliate since it takes a few seconds for him to use his kick attack after he fires his laser. Quite useful in conserving your health when fighting him!

  • @derektereve286

One of my memories about this game is the first when was shipped to a video store. She is the best in the world and we went there, it was dark and cold winter day, I thought it was december around 1992-3 . I was 12-13th at that time. What a special day that was. This memories is so bright in my mind like it was yesterday. I am so happy that my mom and dad are still here with me to this day and they never stop support me like in this cold winter day . I love this game. I always will . It's special. I always play it in snowy dark cold winter days and evenings. I was happy back then, I am happy now. I've never seen anyone else fight Baxter as the fly like that. I've told so many friends over the years about that trick, funny. But....always room to learn. Even though the arcade had better graphics, sound and music I think that this game is pretty close! I love the music in this version! Good times. I think I also remember that I always picked Donatello for some reason. It's either him or Leonardo. Maybe it's out of habit from playing the first TMNT NES game even though this game is a Beat Em Up unlike the first game which was a platformer. I also remember playing with my childhood friends with some of those toys shown here. We use to make the Turtles fight against the Transformers toys. lol

Couple tips for anyone playing this that Kylo didn't specifically point out, but did utilize:
Destructible stage objects aren't just damaging - they're outright instant-kills against ordinary foot soldiers. The cap off a fire hydrant, as well as flying parking meters, road cones, road signs, candles, and exploding barrels will instantly take out any foot soldier they hit. This even applies to the ones that leap out of sewers and chuck the manhole cover at you - you can smack the cover back at them with a well-timed melee attack to instantly take them out with their own weapon. This also works against the foot soldiers later who toss monster truck tires at you.
You can actually use normal melee attacks or your Special Attack to destroy almost any projectile roughly the size of a Turtle's shell or smaller that non-boss enemies throw at you, with the exceptions of lasers, dynamite, bombs and bullets. Shuriken, knives, boomerangs, spears, and snowballs hurled by Foot Soldiers are all fair game for this, as are the missiles of Frosty the Hit Man. Just don't try this with a jump kick - when you're jump kicking, your hitbox and hurtbox overlap enough that trying to destroy a projectile will get you hit by it instead.
    Excellent Guide, and well played!

  • @ScreamsGeo
    @ScreamsGeo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

A little note about the Roadkill Rodneys, at least in stage 1:
If walking at about the same plane as the middle Rodney will pop up, if you walk immediately back to the left, more often than not, they'll all bunch up together when they ride over there. You can kill all three at once that way by stunlocking them with the a+b attack.
On the garage level, you'll know if a vehicle's going to be a problem if you see the same make and color of vehicle twice in a row.

An easy way of doing a quick B,A input is to place you thumb on the right edge of the B button then slide it over to the A button as if you were swiping your phone's screen right, only with slightly more pressure applied.
In actuality the standard NES controller's buttons don't need to be pressed too hard for the input to be registered.
