Good step by step battery rebuild video. The pin breakout notes are a good, useful addition. For anyone trying to activate the BMS on a Trimble 31CR19/66 battery module, (for a Trimble GeoExplorer), connecting the battery 12+V terminal to Pin 6/ +V on the battery module, it does not work. (Maybe someone else trying this on this Trimble module will be saved some time and frustration.) At the start, the three Li+ batteries inside the module measured 1.5V each, but the BMS had apparently shut the charging down completely, and across Pins 6 (+) and 8 (-) were 0V. (These pins are labeled on the module.) When connecting to the Trimble power adapter, the module charging light showed green almost immediately, (no amber at all); potential across Pins 6 & 8 = 12.5V; potential across Pins 5 & 8 = 15V; unplugging the power adapter, the potential between Pins 6 & 8 and 5 & 8 returned to 0V. Each cell was then charged to 4V one at a time while still connected to the module circuitry. Pressing the PUSH for battery module status showed almost full charge; potential across Pins 6 & 8 = 0V. Briefly connecting from the Li+ battery 12+ to Pin 8 did not appear to reset anything. Sometime before this, when plugging in the power adapter, the module power light would briefly show amber and then change quickly to constant green, but not charging.

Yes it is the correct way to change the batteries but the reset method is wrong and won't do any good unless the IC on the BMS is reset by ic reset tool because the ic holds information up until the battery cells dies and that information can only be reset by using a reset tool and a program

A rule for repairing litium batteries is to never use batteries of different age or capacity because they will be out of balance when they are not matching. either will the BMS shut down the battery during charge or discharge when the weakest battery reach high or low voltage. and worst case total failure.
