this probably works better if you crush the battery a little. Just a little. If you crush too much the battery casing will rupture I use pliers, a vice, or a door hinge, in a pinch. The interior of a battery becomes solid with use, and shrinks, drawing it away from the pin running through the middle. You can even just crush them a little to get a few extra uses out of dead batteries, as it allows the remaining electrons which are stuck in the solid interior to drain completely. After crushing, make sure to use the same device you used to make the battery round again, or it may not fit into your device

I have done this in the past, " one" it can be dangerous... "Two" the charge doesn't last for ten minutes, as soon as you use those " recharged " batteries they drop right back to under a volt.!
The last battery you put in your charger came out with virtually the same voltage it had before you charged it. The other thing is those batteries would run a clock even before you "charged" them.
This idea is creative but I would not try recharging "non rechargeable" batteries. I tried that with a certified battery charger and a few of them were expanding like they were ready to explode and cause a major fire and personal injury. This was many years ago but never tried that again. I always use certified battery chargers that only can charge "rechargeable batteries. That's why they are manufactured for those that need to reuse batteries. I do give you full credit for trying to invent a battery charger for "regular" battery types. That would be incredible if it succeeds and gets patented. Update, I saw the full video and you did succeed. Looks like this method may work, but did you use heavy duty batteries or did you use alkaline batteries. I tried with Duracell Alkaline and those were the ones that expanded severely, even on one attempted recharge.
personally my experience was while its possible to recharge alkalines if they are not to far gone it increases the chance of leaking and if it damages one good product there goes all your savings. i lost may favorite flashlight to something like this.

We have a charger that can recharge ordinary batteries.(I bought it about 20 years ago and its called battery manager ultra) It trickle charges them. I have used it for years without problem. A battery charged with it will work a second time and run out more quickly. It can then recharge again and each time runs out faster. I think about 3 times is the limit. The better batteries do best with it. Very cheap batteries you only get one recharge and then they just wont . It shows a screen with how its doing, whether its viable and turns it off when its done. You cant do lithium or damaged batteries with it. Your idea seems similar but I suppose you havent got a safety measure so you must monitor it by eye and not leave it when charging.

you can recharge discharged alkaline batteries once in a while if you charge with pulses. There is a risk of explosion because gases are formed inside the battery.
Best Alkaline 4X AAA/AA battery Charger is the (made in Taiwan, ROC) Powertran A0280. It is a microprocessor controlled battery charger allows you to recharge standard alkaline batteries up to 20 times. Also can charge NiMH rechargeable batteries. Edit: I am still using one. This is really easy to test if he is right or wrong. 1 Take a new battery and test how long it takes to get empty with a device. 2. Take his "charged" battery and see the difference in working time. I would guess that the charged battery gonna last about 30% of the time a new battery lasts. So it might be a "temporary" solution but not a miracle one. I would rather use lithium batteries since they are cheap enough, have more power, and are truly rechargeable. Or just use a Ni--Mh rechargeable battery like Eneloops or others since they are cheap enough too.
Use a battery charger, for any battery type. But, alternate dry cell batteries with the nondry cells to act as a capacitor in the circuit. The dry cell batteries will prevent the nondry cells from overheating and melting the plastic insulation. You can reuse any type of batteries about 8 times before oxidizing gases or deteriorating conditions sufficiently reduce quality.
Here the guy gave sodium bicarbonate, but it is better to add; an owl's eye, a frog's calf, bat's blood and a dried cow cake! After this modification, you can drive a Tesla for 700 kilometers on 20 AA batteries.
No. Just no. Charging batteries in series, especially different brands in different states of discharge, is a bad idea. As is not including a series resistor. I have a couple of taper chargers intended for alkaline rechargeables that I've used on regular alkalines with varying degrees of success. I read somewhere that regular alkaline chemistry remains reversible up to 30% discharge. This works out to about 1.34V. Just need to keep an eye on them while charging. If a cell starts to get warm or gets stuck at a voltage

Trying to charge non-chargable batteries this way without currentcontrol or anything can lead to internal gass-buildup and explosion, don't take the risk its not worth it..
These batteries are not checked properly (on short circuit amps). The voltage itself is not telling much about battery internal resistance (the real issue with used batteries). Plus, the new alkaline AA battery is expected to give (short time) 6A and above. No non-rechargeable battery can be restored to that current. Even rechargeable batteries charging time cannot be less than 4 hours in the high speed charger (which itself destroys rechargeable batteries).
this is wrong .. because the last battery, as I checked, was 1.4 volts.. the volts remained like that after you charged ... only the first 1.7 volts was charged .. and this is a faulty battery because it will soon swell in the watch.. Clever guy

this probably works better if you crush the battery a little.
This method is the best one to get your house on fire ! It is very dangerous to try recharging a battery. Very dangerous...
Very true, batteries that are not designed to be recharged don't try it, it can be extremely dangerous, throw them away and replace with new ones.

Measuring the no-load voltage is irrelevant. Only the source resistance measurement can judge about the health of the battery.

The last battery you put in your charger came out with virtually the same voltage it had before you charged it. The other thing is those batteries would run a clock even before you "charged" them.

In what way is it dangerous? What are the consequences if you use a dry battery that has been recharged?

Or buy a battery charger. Does this guy think that he invented the battery charger? 😁

I have done this for years and I am going to give you certain facts.
1- Never recharge them more than once
2- Never recharge them for more than 1:30 hours
3- Always recharge in a safe area and away from flammable objects
4- Never recharge if you are going to leave them unsupervised
5- You can use a rechargeable battery charger
6- Once recharged, the useful life of the battery is 50% of its previous life time
7- It is a lifesaver when we do not have the possibility to go shopping or when we do not have time to go
8- The first test should be in a patio or a safe area of the house, since they were not designed to be recharged, some of poor quality could deteriorate easily, heat up to the extreme, release some liquid or even catch fire.
9- Better buy rechargeable batteries, I have been recharging my batteries for more than 5 years and they continue to work perfectly and I have saved a fortune
10- Free Palestine!

you can recharge discharged alkaline batteries once in a while if you charge with pulses.

Is't it the same as putting a battery into a charger for reusable batteries ? Does your device do the same.
I just wanna know, how many hours this charging, once the batteries are charged, last ?
They tend to lose the charge by themselves without any use.
Dah! They do sell rechargeable batteries for yes more money but can be safely Cha raged several times in a unit made especially for this.
Thank you for sharing useful knowledge

No.

I have a couple of battery chargers that are made to charge rechargeable and alkaline batteries. the charger will tell if the battery is bad
Yeah, great, I can't afford such a charger, my charger is cheap and doesn't have the function to report damage to the battery cells so I figured out how to fix it myself. Thank you so much!
A bit dangerous - the final voltage check is superficial the small amount of charge will mean the battery will only last nominal amount of time.

Trying to charge non-chargable batteries this way without currentcontrol or anything can lead to internal gass-buildup and explosion, don't take the risk its not worth it..
It’s better to throw away in safe place when it’s life is utilised.why we shud try to convert into new life with waste materials.
Mejor y sin peligro comprar las recargables.
