    I had the opportunity to sit down with a Nigerian who owns an African Shop in Gloucester City, UK. It was a privilege to interview him to know how he started his African Food Business from home. There are important lessons to learn from the story of Gracious Store in Gloucester. I gave a bit of introduction to Gloucester City and some statistics of the population of Blacks living in Gloucester City in the United Kingdom.
    I also wrote an article about Gracious Store & Afro Hair Salon which is available on my blog if anyone wants to read

      Serving people because the customer is king. Some sometimes customers have had a bad day and can't even exercise patience. That is when your skills as a businessman come in handy, to win trust and sell products to even the worst customer and pretend that they are really good customers. I think that is hard for us Africans because we are too emotional, but he made it. This is not easy at all. Imagine a customer who is on the queue and is jumpy because he just wants to buy chin-chin and then eat it on his way to an interview. He/she will not be himself/herself that day. How can you see through his/her edginess and not let them slip into the next store with their money? Okay, someone might say that is just one customer. . . but I ask who knows if he has a large family and numerous friends who would otherwise patronise the shop? I really respect people who can grow their businesses in today's complex world. I see Indians have a lot of that skill.

    Well done my brother, I really appreciate your business sense, I know it's not easy setting up to this point. The good part of it is that you have a good woman who understood your language by making the business work. Now you are a bit relaxed than before. Good business acumen!!! You have done well for yourself!!!

      Apologies for just responding. I think it's relative. I know people who do it from home. They store the products in their home and deliver to people. And ofcourse there are people like House of Gracious who have the shop. You could have a small shop to start with and move when business grows. If you are interested in this type of business I will suggest you contact House of Gracious for a quick chat. Google 'House Of Gracious, Gloucester', you should see his phone number. I think he is happy to share few of his minutes to help people.

    How do you bring in stuffs to UK,I have in mind of selling from home but the problem is how to bring it in

    • @IamAfrikan
      @IamAfrikan  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ngozi, I think it depend on the type of product. Usually, it's just a normal importation through shipping companies/agents. Obviously it need to be products that are allowed to be imported to the UK. If you have some specific question you can send me email through my contact email in the description. It might be a question i can answer or find someone who can help answer your question.
