Wow. This race was a study in how important reading the logic is; PKR realized that Titan's Mitts were logically locking the lamp (You can't get up to desert ledge without either Book, which was lamp-locked itself or flute, mirror, AND TITAN'S (to actually use the Dark World portal), so ANYTHING behind a dark room could NOT lead to the Mitts. So all of Andy's Boots checks were utter wastes of time. Great, great, great heads-up play from PKR.
Really great run from PKR. They were pretty much neck-and-neck until POD, where PKR realized that she could bail early, while Andy did the dark rooms and then cleared the front-half of Eastern. It's that little bit of insight, that the mitts were probably locking the lamp, and therefore the mitts cannot be behind any dark rooms, is what saved her. I still would really love to know where the flute was.
The mitts weren't just _probably_ locking the Lamp, they were *definitely* locking it. The book was lamplocked, which meant mirroring from the Swamp of Evil was the only way to reach Desert without sequence breaking. And that absolutely positively requires the Titan's Mitt.
Just starting the run and you can see the difference when Andy was facing the walls and pkr doesn't. So you can tell who's more experienced. But can't wait to see how pkr does. Wow!!! Amazing run by pkr
True, Andy has the execution, but PKR isn't afraid to buck the standard routing and follow the logic. If the seed pushed them to full clear, Andy would have the advantage. But with a seed like this, PKR just shines.
Pink might feel that hugzipping along those walls for a tiny speedboost doesn't make enough of a difference to be worth the bother, and she's actually played rando and vanilla a fair bit. She's good at other key tech and execution, and has fairly good instincts (which has saved her from being jebaited several times). And all the execution skill in the world won't save you when you get jebaited by a red herring item or by forgetting the logic.
Hehe, Pink knows to check that sneaky bastard of a Compass Chest in Swamp (unless you're 100% in Go Mode). Not the first time she's found the bow there, there was a Standard Mode weekly where she found it there (which put her in Go Mode and won her the game). She's also found other progression in there on a number of occasions - including one where her opponent skipped it at first and payed dearly. Well done to Pink for remembering the Lamp was mittslocked and playing based on that. Hunting for the Titan's Mitt in the dark rooms where it could not be cost Andy pretty badly. I suppose the only thing bittersweet about this is that Pink was denied her beloved BOOTS POWER
Been watching these randomizer tournaments for a while and pinkkittyrose has caught my attention, very skilled speed runner. I subscribed to her channel. Same for Andy as well
55:53 can someone familiar with this mode explain to me why the mitts can't be there ? I'm trying to understand the mecanics and logic behind this mod to get in it myself for fun :p
The game isn't just random, it also makes so that if you were playing glitchless casual you'd still be able to complete any seed. That means if an item is locked behind another, the other would have to be in a location you'd be able to access (for instance any items found in Dark World, the game makes certain you have access to the Peal before you 100% must go there for progression). When it comes to anything past a dark room, the logic of the randomizer dictates you must have the Lamp (hence lamp-locked), even though you can technically do them without the lamp if you memorized the layout (which is considered sequence breaking the randomizer's logic). The lamp was on the Desert Ledge, which you need either the book, or the flute, mirror, and titans. Since the book itself was found past a dark room (hence being lamp-locked), that meant all three of the other items couldn't be past any dark rooms. PKR entered a dark room and realized "oh yeah, the mits can't be here because the book was lamp-locked, and there's only one other way to get to that ledge with the lamp," so she jumped straight out of the dungeon and continued her search elsewhere.
Yo why didn't they chat at the end? Is this like some kind of serious rivalry where they genuinely don't like each other and want to beat each other? Lol
Zoruastrianism Surprising, right? I just found out about this following Smight’s ALttPR races and then I see Pink’s name show up and there she was, the underdog of the semis.
You say that mockingly, but Pink is kinda terrifying. She and her friends are known for no-damage-running games. with her last few being Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, Zelda 2, Shovel Knight, and Megaman X 1-3. She's mental.
That commentary at the end gave a great idea, co-op game with all four finalists, 1 gambler and 1 executionist.

Wanted to see this because Andy is a completionist and Pink rolls the dice. Both follow the logic very well and are skilled.
well done to pkr noticing that the lamp was logically titans locked
It feels very strange to be rooting AGAINST Andy, but I've been a fan of PKR for ages, so...
SuprJen same. Even back when commentary was all done through onscreen text boxes. How far she’s come.

Great to watch, just got into randomizer races and I still cant follow every decision the players make, but its fun learning, PKR was amazing so.
story of this seed.... Boots, why hath thee betrayed me.... leading me astray when I love you so...
A damn good run by PinkKittyRose.
Good seed and great routing by PKR
Jesus. Pink destroyed. Well played

Nena Vaskina they played the 2md game right after the 1st so there was no time. They talked after the 2nd
Oh my.
Is it just me or was PKR a few seconds behind at first after obtaining the sword and moving onto the next screen due to a lag?
Wait I'm subscribed to Pink xD

Andy lost to a girl? Haha

He ended up winning so yeah..
