I love to see how far this show has come, humble beginnings man. And the fact that they still respond to comments despite there large following is amazing. Back Issues definitely is one of the best shows on the internet
They still respond even now two years later and it's dope. They've responded or liked my comments a few times and it's almost like getting a tweet from a celebrity for me
javierpena52 that's so funny and I think that everyone else doesn't want to deal with the clones so mo Ben Reilly or kaine nor ultimate universe Jessica drew
This has been my 20th back issue video that I've watched (not in order, I just jump around and select what I'd like to watch) and damn, you guys are underrated as hell. Y'all deserve more than 96k subs.
One Dick move that Tony pulled at this time that wasn't covered here is that the "Iron Spider" Armor that he made for Peter spied on him and was part of a attempt by Tony to copy Peter's spider sense.
Cornholio174 Tony was trying to prepare for everything during the Civil War era. The guy built Adamantium Sentinels just in case mutants and other heroes became a problem. The guy also built a machine that would approximate possible future events based on statistics and studies that he had gathered from researching heroes and villains (ironically he's against this kind of method in Civil War 2). He imprisoned people in the Negative Zone. Tony was basically a super villain at that point.
MWhaleK Don't forget about what he did to She-Hulk and Bruce Banner, he slept with and injected nanites into She-Hulk. Also he launched Bruce into space, preventing any interference from the hulk.
8:00 I remember a bit where Squirrel Girl pointed out that Nitro was hopped up on some power-enhancing drug so even a team that came in thinking they knew what to expect from him would have been blindsided by the blast he put out. Worth tracking down just for the version of that edgelord suit they made for his cat.
Back issues has had such a glow up from this to now. Absolutely fantastic. I commend you lovable bunch. Cant wait for what the future holds for the comic pop team!
Whoever the guy in blue is ~ both your attire, facial hair, & tone of voice all remind me of Mac from Always Sunny. & for the record, I mean that with the most respect possible.
Obviously, Cap and Co. should have just laid low in Wakanda for a while and waited for the next alien invasion or whatever and then saw how strongly the US felt about the Registration Act.
I been bouncing between videos lately and exploring the earlier episodes and how far you have come, like the 100k mark to me anyways feels like you got to a 1M in my book just by the set changes alone. Im really looking forward to where this journey continues to go.
I really love your show, and I really appreciate you putting in the time to make it. In any case I have some thoughts on civil war. I think you hit upon one of the major issues with this comic without actually addressing it. It`s difficult to tell what the superhuman registration act actually says or does because it`s inconsistent. For example Sal says, I think correctly, that it`s implied that the act will compel all super powered people to work for shield, and as such they can`t just live their lives. However, in Loki: agent of Asgard we see a super powered person register, and then be sent on her way, without being compelled to receive any shield training or participate in any hero work. It`s noted that she`s allowed to avoid the shield training because her powers are so innocuous that she`s not really a threat, and as such it could be assumed that she`s dismissed from hero work for the same reason, but no one even mentions compelled hero work as a possibility. Furthermore, the character shown in that comic has powers so innocuous she could easily have gone unnoticed, and she did everything in her power to avoid having to interact with the world outside her apartment. As such, if being forced to do government work were really a possibility I don`t think she would have registered at all. These inconsistencies wouldn`t really matter if it were just normal comic book fun, because, let`s face it continuity between different books isn`t always great, and for the most part the world has learned to forgive some issues for the sake of good stories. Unfortunately, the act is different because fans were meant to debate on this issue, and marvel made it so that fans who read different books received different information on what the act actually did. This cheapens the potential political debates that could have been had, as fans had to argue about what the legislation actually said instead of the practical and moral implications of that legislation.
It would be funny if someone in a current comic threw shade on it saying something like "guys, what was that registration act about anyways? How come was it even aproved? I read it tons of times and it was so vague and inconsistent I kept asking myself if I was dumb or just missing something."
Btw, what's with the popular opinion polls Tony Stark is always pulling up? He's literally turning the US in a super-hero police state and the people almost fully support it? I wonder if Tony actually financed those researches himlself and manipulated the questions to turn the people's answers on his favor.
Worst super power I've ever heard of was featured in Spiderman & Black Cat: Evil That Men Do. In that story, a guy's parents were experimented on during WW2, in an attempt to transplant mutant powers into humans. Something like that, it's been a while. This guy's resulting power is the ability to teleport small amounts of liquid. Of course, he uses this power to become the ultimate drug dealer by teleporting acid directly into people's bloodstreams...
TV Little House Comics OMG you replied to something I said! I peed a little! Will you talk about the revised Clone Saga? I think it was called Real or True Clone Saga, rewritten the way it was supposed to be, before its writer was fired.
Allen Babylon Actually that ability doesn't sound that bad, teleporting anything into anything can mess up anyone. Imagine teleporting small amounts of, mercury, sulphuric acid, uranium hexafluoride or any super potent comic poison in general, he can kill anyone without them noticing in the first place. What's stopping him from spamming chemicals? He can put every single type of conceivable poison into someone and kill him with absolutely no chance of recovery. This is far from being useless compared to characters like Dogwelder.
KS Ng Well yeah after you think about it it sounds cool. But even the character said himself that he found it worthless until thinking about it. Teleport small spoonfuls of liquids, or shoot lasers out of your eyes? Or constantly heal? Or make anything explode?
Benjamin, frankly I'm shocked you doubt your sphere of influence. I'm...from Montana. I've been watching you guys' stuff for over a year now and am only now discovering this allegation, if the deal still stands I demand more content not based around the big 2. My suggestions are Skullkickers, Mice Templar, Chew(or just about any Image title) or some Vertigo titles.

Perfect summation of Penance. When I first read the transcript for his origins I thought it was awesome...but then I read the actual issue. The art and dialogue literally made me laugh. Bald Robbie Baldwin. Looks like a baby 🤣
There were some "The Iniative" comics and yes they mostly focused on one team, but we got to see quite a few other teams too. I actually really enjoyed those comics. Then again, I am just not too picky. I love pretty much all comics. I don't even hate One More Day like how everyone else seems to.
It's ironic that Civil War got people to read comics, because Civil War II made me stop reading comics several months after I started again for the first time since the 90s.
I almost quit comics after this as well. I just thought everybody was out of character in this book it was done so terrible. Great ideas gone to waist.
New Jersey had the defenders and Hawaii had the Point Men. Rhode Island and Maine didn't have announced teams. I agree, I would have liked to have seen more. The Initiative comic only touched on like half at most.

It’s funny how it’s easy to clown on Rhode Island and probably a ton of other states because they aren’t typically used in comics so there’s no expectation of super crime there. What’s as the inciting incident though? An explosion in Stamford CT at a d-list villain safe house. It really could have been a cool idea if they didn’t focus on the extremes of each side so that everyone looked bad.
The strange thing is that Cap used to work for the army and comes from a time when the government used to draft people. but he has a problem with the Superhero Registration Act.
He explains it in the book that he stands for American ideals, not the government. The government is overstepping their bounds and betraying the ideals America was based on, so he's against that. Look at the Pro-Registration's actions, they're similar to the Nazis Cap fought.
Allen Babylon It's actually nothing like what the Nazi's did and exactly like what the U.S. gov did during WW2. How come we didn't see Cap fighting against gov drafting during WW2? Dressing up as a superhero and being a vigilante isn't an American Ideal, either. That term is a smoke screen designed to defend whatever decisions Cap makes.
Eric Staples For the Pro-Registration, any superhero who was not a mutant was required to register their identities and powers and then were forced to work for the government. If they didn't register, they were hunted down and put into camps and prisons until they agreed to register. And yeah, the American government placed Asians in camps too, but remember Captain America is from the 40s and a patriot. He's probably blinded to that fact or may not even be aware of it.
Yes, but draft was a temporary thing for a certain emergency, the registration is for life whatever you want or not, plus the US goverment in Marvel has been infiltrated so many time at so many level that i will not trust them with a water gun. Red Skull posed for months as the Secretary of Defense (using an anagram of his villain name) and just before civil war, there was this miniarc on fantastic four, were child service tried to get the custody of the Richards children as they live in a dangerous enviroment, as an experiment the Richards give up custody but only if the children were put in a supersecret location know only to less than an half dozen of people...naturally less than 20 minute later the supposed safe house was destroyed by multiple missiles, luckyly the children were still in the BB and the house was a decoy to demonstrate that get them out was even more dangerous. I’ve been trying to find the information anywhere but when did superhuman registration act end? Like when did it stop becoming relevant? Because I read past comics and it was like a big deal, but now people like Kamala kahn has a secret identity
After the Skrull Invasion and all the resulting chaos (Norman Osborn becoming the leader of the official Avengers team and then him trying to take over Asgard.) the heroes were released from the registration act and that is when the Heroic Age began where the heroes were on one page and working together again.
man i miss comicsfix. i actually got comicsfix because of this episode a long time ago. Probably the only one to get it. not just from the ad but the only person period haha as short as it lasted. read all sorts of indie books i had never heard of, guess that was its problem though, the big 2 / big 3 are where most readers go for. it was pretty cool while it lasted. user interface was better than DC Universe's comics UI. i read Sals' comics on it if memory serves [i would later buy them on comixology]

After the Skrull Invasion and all the resulting chaos (Norman Osborn becoming the leader of the official Avengers team and then him trying to take over Asgard.) the heroes were released from the registration act and that is when the Heroic Age began where the heroes were on one page and working together again.
Lauren Anderson I never liked it. I’m surprised they never brought that back because they keep making new registrations in laws like for Kamala khan
But in another note civil war is one of my favorite marvel storylines always a recommendation for new readers
@comicpop Did you ever get 10 comments from Montana?
I'm English and have no idea where Montana is. So who other than Venom are in the Thunderbolts?
Used to be Swordsman, Bullseye, Moonstone, and a few others.
Great show
Thanks!
I want this version of Ethan, Sal, and Ben to be brought to the future and see the channel now... And the Montana viewers will have their vengeance.
So, is anyone gonna bring up the fact that the sole victim of a book called “Civil War” was a black guy?
man i miss comicsfix. i actually got comicsfix because of this episode a long time ago.
What a blast from the past!
"One thumbs down out of four episodes is a pretty good average."
Has Bill Foster/Goliath been brought back to life yet?
+Thomas Gladwell Nope.
oh... ok then... fair enough... I guess... also the whole idea of Penance is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of aswell
Hey, Squirelgirl is awesome. She beat Deadpool in Deadpool's Civil War tie-in. Okey, she is just a parody character but at least a good parody.
Yeah, she's fun! I just meant her powers probably aren't at the top of most people's lists ;)
