I would put the diesel heater OUTSIDE on a tire table and port the heater output into the van through a port in a panel you make that fits in a front window.
I would add some Exhaust Heat Wrap to the heater exhaust pipe that should stop it from burning anything in the vehicle and id also try to mount it in the back of the van find a plugged hole in the back floor board or drill one if needed that way you'd have a permanent place for the exhaust to exit and id also get a Carbon Monoxide alarm if you don't already have one.
Would route the exhaust out the drivers side middle row window where it would be easier to make a square wood filler plate and use the chrome exhaust port. Would a small butane heater like a Kovea Cupid Gas heater make more sense for occasional use. Uses the same canisters as your stove and would very quickly warm up a space like the inside of the Sienna and quite small.
if your battery runs out, the heater will be a problem and it needs to go through a shut down procedure or it will smoke out like other videos show. That will stink up your van... I have 2 of them but use them outside and duct the heat in. Then you dont have the exhaust coming back in the window and dont have to worry about something happening. Many van people have them permanently installed but I think for camping outside is better. If stealth then inside ok imo
Great project. When youre freezing your a... off...a clicking noise aint nothin'. For the nay sayers many people use these safely. You always have to crack a window for fresh oxygen. Super video. Loved it!!❤❤❤❤
Have you considered using insulated exhaust hose? You are loosing a lot of heat out the open window at the same time you are heating the rest of the van.
I am positive you’d come up with a much better solution for mounting. They also make these without the box, so you could put specific parts in different places.
Does the exhaust tube fit through the hole where you lower the spare? I think you said you have an AWD, so you don’t have a spare but the hole should still be there.
I haven’t tried or thought of that. If I was going to permanently mount it, I’d go through the floor of the trunk and run the pipe along the OEM exhaust out where it exits.
What about the air intake? Isn't it supposed to take air from outside to inside? Also, it does have a 12V DC plug so it can be connected with the DC port as I checked on Amazon on the link you provided above.
Mount it on the roof rack, run the heating hose into the side window (and make a small removable window bracket that the hose will attach and that the electrics for the heater can run through). Not 'stealth' with a big hose running down the side of the vehicle, but better than the set up currently. Other option - get a trail hitch, put one of those 2ft x 4ft carriers on back, mount the heater there and run the hose UNDER the vehicle into one of the cavities on the rear left/right side (uhaul makes a video about installing their electrics for their trailer hitch on an odyssey and they use the back vent). would be stealthier but require a longer setup time than the roof mount.
Is it diesel or electric? I’m confused because it seems that you connected it to the Ecoflow or something like that. Can you clarify that please. Thank you!
Hi, it’s a diesel heater that uses electric for the fan and initial heating of the glow plug. Once it warms up, all of the electricity runs the fan and electronics.
Most strange idea for me to put diesel inside... consuming diesel and some energy at the same time, generating noise and fumes... wouldn't it be much easier to just use some electric small fan coil heater (400-500W)? With the battery 3kW i would last around for 6-7 h - just enough for sleeping and then recharge it while driving?
Doesn't work that well. Other videos have guys trying the little electric heaters 300w-1500w in frigid temps and they don't work and they draw a lot of power. Would need at least a 2000wh battery station or larger. Problem with propane (other than a fire hazard) is they put a lot of moisture into the air, which isn't bad if you are camping for a weekend but some people live in their vehicles.
Having a hot pipe that incinerates everything that touches it and gives exhaust fumes out your window is totally stealth. No one will ever know you're in there 😂
I can imagine the mold in your van you will find in your van this spring, why do I say that 😊 because your van doesn't have proper insulation. Wait till spring and remove your inside panels and you will find out what I'm talking about 😊
EIGHT KW though...cmon now sounds overkill. Im torn between 2KW and 5 KW for my suv, I def do not want overkill. That sounds like a good video though- Test the difference between a 2KW and an 8KW.

🤣I had to put on an extra thermal layer just to get through the video... Soooo cold! Thanks for taking time to do this demo ~ very cool! 🥶
Problem with keeping diesel tank in a vehicle is that soon your entire vehicle will smell like diesel.
Yes.
well that sucks!
But your warm 😅

Thought my camping in the rain video was tough. Credit to you
Very informative. Thank you for sharing. I'm gonna get one for my van.

Safety? With an exhaust pipe right outside the open window?
Great video..I really appreciate this information about the heater..I've been looking for a reliable diesel heater to put in my van

I’m using a similar unit to heat my 24x30 shop. It’s well insulated and one small heater will bring it up into the mid 60’s from the low 40’s.
Great video! Question, would the exhaust pipe fit out the rear pop out window on the passenger side?
Interesting experiment! I might add one of these diesel heaters into my rig.

What size power station are you running this with?
this was awesome
Hi. Whatever happened to your Jeep Gladiator?
You need a check up from the neck cup
😂😂😂😂😅
Very cool
Yeah I don’t see many pros vs the eco flow wave 2, especially if you live in your rig.
I’m keeping an eye on these. Perhaps one day.

30 hours on that power station? Which power station is that ?
Hi, that one is the BLUETTI Elite 200 v2. It’s working pretty well so far.
Oh ok thank you 🙏🏽

11:12 it would have to be 11:25 outside the vehicle for me it’s way too loud and I would not be able to sleep
It is exactly the same thing I'm dealing with in Mo....timely
Stay safe!

Could have at least put a towel in the window, I do that all the time to fish a extension cord out of my house windows.
My question 😊 why are you plugging into 120 ac when the diesel heater can run on 12 volts DC. That's a big waste of power 😊
0:07 that’s a lot of ice my friend
I’m not going to camp in my car on purpose in the winter. I’ll be chasing 65, 70 degrees where I can actually live out of the vehicle for the day
Don't do this very dangerous!
This operation is making me nervous... Me hate heaters but most folks love their heaters...

Risky.
