    Thanks. As a female this is a better fix for me than replacing.

    Your video will help us fix a hole, thanks! I hear dogs and see a large white pvc tubing alongside the fence...does this help for dogs who dig???

      You're welcome and I hope it helps! The large PVC pipe is actually my sump pump discharge line. However, my dog doesn't dig on that side of the yard so it is possible it's been discouraging him. 😁. Thank you for the comment and let us know how it turns out.

    Good advice, but i question the use of "Joint Cement". Usually that refers to indoor joint compound. Wouldn't something like Bondo Fiberglass repair be a better durable, sandable and paintable outdoor finish?

    How about cut a flat piece of panel and clean with alcohol and bond onto surface with clear silicone. I've used from rocks and sticks thrown from lawn mover and exact color match.

      That method sounds like it could work too. I am curious so I may check around for a vid or something. Thanks for the comment!

      @@treasurestatetoolbags No solvent except releasing some acetic acid, so no stress crazing to occur and no issues with waterproofness. Anything with acetone, MEK, or toluene could stress craze PVC from molding stresses and silicone doesn't.

    Where did you buy the joint cement ?

    • @treasurestatetoolbags
      @treasurestatetoolbags  ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought it from Ace Hardware. I just Googled it though so I can post a link but having troubles finding the exact one. On Ace's website, it looks like they may have changed the name from Joint Cement to Joint Compound. I've used standard drywall putty for this application as well if it helps.

    What is the pvc tubing around the fence for?

    • @treasurestatetoolbags
      @treasurestatetoolbags  ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be my sump pump discharge pipe.

      @@treasurestatetoolbags I was wondering the same thing. I thought maybe it was to keep the grass from growing next to the fence.

    Would this hold a screw? Is it strong enough?

    • @treasurestatetoolbags
      @treasurestatetoolbags  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great question! With using the foam plus the drywall cement, I would use a drywall anchor as part of the setup. I probably wouldn't hang anything too heavy though. Out of curiosity, and if you'd be okay sharing, what would you plan on hanging or mounting? If you use a screw, maybe install it during the curing process. I haven't thought of this fix in this way and you've piqued my interest, I may have to experiment. Thank you for your question!

      @@treasurestatetoolbags we had a hurricane rip a 3ft gate off the fence. The screws just pulled out of the post and now the holes are too big.

    • @treasurestatetoolbags
      @treasurestatetoolbags  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MyUnquenchableThirst I'm sorry to hear that and I hope everything is working out for the better now. The area is pretty stout but I'm not too sure I would trust it to hold a gate. I imagine it would hold for a while, but after several gate swings, I get the feeling it would dislodge itself. I don't know how much real-estate you have available on your post, but maybe offset the gate hardware so the screws are above/below the original holes. Then maybe use this fix to hide the previous holes?

      This works for more than just the panel…my footer/baseboard has a hole like this and I can’t just up and replace the footer. Not to mention if it’s on a concreted post. No need for hate…I appreciate the video!!
