That truck looks 100 times better with those fender flares y'all made for it. Elon should take notice.
I think the issue is wind drag. The fenders definitely improved the look, but will most likely hurt efficiency, which to each consumer may not be an issue, but the ones that buy the truck and try to get the most range it will be an issue. Its all good though, the aftermarket will have the consumers back.
@@joepitts3638 efficiency........ you've seen the shape of the thing stock right??
@@Crabman_87 It is pretty aero efficient in stock form, 0.34 Cd.
Elon Musk has seen it already and to be hella honest, I doubt that Elon finna do that lmao. People get hella creative
I love em! When can we purchase them or will they be made for the public? (fingers crossed)
4 quarts of oil is about 7 pounds. 21 quarts of oil is about 36 pounds. So in a situation where the ring gets hooked on something, it's far safer to wear a generic rubber ring. It's even safer not to wear a ring at all. I used to wear a ring, but stopped when a friend of mine lost a finger by shorting his wedding ring across a truck battery.
Yeah exactly some pretty bad marketing right there
How the hell you even pull that off? Starter im guessing but not the usual method of finger removal for mechanics and rings! Watched my uncle shorten his ring finger catching his wedding band on the fins of an alternator while vehicle was running!
like a 12-14v battery? lol DC battery? yea that wont do any thing but get hot...also how did a small ring reach both terminals? i agree with everything you said until the battery part lol-
@@joshuaaho920 In the 80s I worked in an office - a window cleaner (inside) slipped off his ladder, only fell about 2 or 3 feet, but his ring caught on the window latch, didn't completely sever his finger, but it was hanging off.
As machinist, I'll tell you we never wear ANYTHING on below the elbow...no rings, watches or bracelets. nothing, not ever not even rubber.
"It's in limp mode, but it did really well" 😂😂😂😂
Limp mode is also a software issue, not a hardware issue. He likely can't fix it himself and will have to call tesla or take it in.
Regarding choosing sides,
My family has always referred to ourselves as "car people" not ford, not Chevy, not Mazda, not diesel, not rally, not offroad, but CARS (to include trucks). Anything that is significant, we are into it. Be that performance, or ability, or history it's all neat and it's stupid to fight over it.
This content is great fun and it was great to see y'all at sand hollow! Keep up the good work!
16:57 props to you for explaining this to average ppl , very nice
this thing cost 100k, looks like a rugged car, but can be broken like a cheap 20k car.
edit: 20k car can perform much better, and repair cost be like just 1-2 days and pack of snacks for your friends
I pray people do not actually need a demonstration of how leverage works.
On the ring ad. Isn’t the point for it to break easily to prevent degloving or other injuries?
this is what i was thinking lol, very bad marketing
That's what I'm saying
Yeppers - Try tying a 10 lb fishing line to your metal ring and a solid object to cautiously pull against and you'll get an idea of how much damage even that might do if suddenly caught.
Best!
Exactly what I was thinking. Don't think my finger could hold that much so I wouldn't want the ring to either😂. I'd think the easier it breaks away the better
$40 for some rubber is crazy as well, and on top of that they just order them from china, etc. if you really want something like those rings just get them from wish
i feel like Cybersparks would be a good name, so glad to see you guys have fun coming up with crazy ideas, truly a work hard play hard group of guys.

Its absolutely amazing you had to make the back half of this video to all cry babies of the internet that can't see it both ways, and one way. You guys crush it regardless of vehicle mediums, so I love to see you push on the channel.
looking forward to the next builds and chapter.
It’s not that people don’t like both forms of power I myself am turned off by the way our government is forcing E.Vs on us and I think it turns a lot of people off to the whole idea.
there is no see both ways! his diesel vehicles have been used to do way more awesome projects and videos! those sand dune racing with the tesla is really boring tbh! its like its the only thing that truck can really do!
with the diesel truck he was able to cut the frame! extend it, add military solid axles, ll wheel steering, or the mighty bus or many of his other trucks which actually made his greatest videos ever period!
im not against the EV but seriously the same boring thing all day is lame.
@@carholic-sz3qvyou literally proved his point with your first sentence 😂
Its funny that in some of the clips with no music, without engine noise, you can hear the paddles hitting sand, and it sounds like the a10 jets machine gun brrrrrrrt lol.

Only gays drive Teslas bro.
Props on your comments about Tesla! Have owned a model 3 for 4 years up in the cold Canadian winters. As a Canadian I’m proud that it is an American company!

I knew Dave was talented but I had no idea of the broad spectrum of his knowledge. He makes hard stuff look easy and he is versatile. He has the ability to learn new technology quickly. It's refreshing to see his passion as he develops different projects.
Pro tip on the tire. Light the lighter a few feet back, and use the starting fluid like a flamethrower. It keeps your hand clear of the blast.
That's why you get that one person to light it. We all need a laugh sometimes
Even better pro tip. Don't run shitty fake bead lock wheels😂
The Cybertruck conversion by your company belongs in a museum.. Best part is your commentary at the end. Highly suggest for everyone to watch this very entertaining video. :)
Ending....shouldn't need to be said but definitely does, spot on.
Thanks guys for looking outside the box and just showing what’s coming down the pipeline. Still love my dinosaur juice thingies, but hey why not look at what’s coming in the future and hoping for the best still just have fun playing around. Keep it up , and too infinity and beyond.
Except you want your ring to break.
I agree 💯 on your electric verse traditional fuel . Both have different applications, much like your cored and battery-powered tools.
Love the recap you did at the end. It’s cool to show the tests and actions, also interesting to hear the method behind the madness. Keep ‘em coming
that leverage demo was actually genius
I’d love to see this truck in the Baja1000 with a full long travel set up.
How exactly would you do a 1300 mile race with a 300 mile range?

Yeah, great idea. An electric vehicle in the Baja 1000. Just have have a supercharger chase vehicle....
I wanna see this thing super jacked up! You guys lift all your trucks to the max, this thing needs to be sky high!
Mega mud cyber truck
Awesome additions with the fender flaring and the chassis upgrade. That thing looks like a predator on mars soil. Raising it 4 inches with some 35 inch tires would make it even more a beast. Maybe you can name it Voyager 1, Vger1, after the satellite that is still roaming space since 1979. It was Voyager 1. They even made a sci fi movie about it. Keep up the great videos!
Thank you Dave that was so good.. I think the amazing thing about this is that the truck that you were using was only a dual motor. And it was amazing. Cyberbeast full send Aloha
So accurate about all the hate online towards cybertruck! Pick what works best for your situation and don't tie your entire identity to Gas vs Diesel vs EV. Well done on this video.
He is gettin PAID 💰 🤑
You could mod a Rivian to this crazy level and not have to put up with the cyberbrick. Gas vs. Diesel vs. a well-made EV would be a lot different.
@@mike_tango Glad you like the Rivian. Good machine, sounds perfect for you!
@@leeandrubyHaven't gotten my hands on one yet but it looks like it does normal truck things the normal truck way, just electric. And as much as i make fun of the EU and its sillyness, the cyberbrick doesn't meet safety standards.
@@mike_tango have you watched the videos on its cumple zones? It does meet US Safety standards . Not sure if the massive Silverado 2500hd or Ford F250 are EU approved either 😃 "Normal Truck way" has been to build bigger and bigger grills. The f250 super duty has true brick-like qualities!

Watching the cybertruck in person down at Sandhollow was quite a treat‼️ Even the Brodozer impressed the crowd. Thanks for putting on a blast 💥 of a show!
Still not much of an EV person, can't afford much more than my 30 year old truck and little Toyota car, I am a big fan of Elon Musk and what he does, love his American-made products, but I definitely appreciate your common sense and critical thought when it comes to the reality of the way they are built and seeing it from a realistic real world everyday user perspective. Kudos😉👍
At least your mind is open and curious which is a good thing.
Old truck and a little Toyota is perfect! I love my 97 4runner and my beater 2002 camry. More reliable than a lot of newer stuff.
Lol if you only knew. His American made parts get recalled constantly and he ends up using the Chinese parts. I swear the ish people tell themselves to simp for this guy. Insane. Tesla is a Chinese company. Period.
he has only done nothing but promise amazing stuff and ... deliver on like 5% of it lol
@@nonesocruel That really might be pushing it. He is taking billions of taxpayer dollars to make a Moon Lander (HLS) and doing nothing but try to push a nonsensical Mars mission.

I have been watching your videos for a couple of yearS or more and have to say it is great to see how much evolution is happening right in front of everybodys eyes. You use to be in a smaller shop, had less toys, less equipment and largely focused on towing. These days you are opening up to all sorts of possibilities and having fun doing it. Witnessing your growth, educating yourself, experimenting with things many only dream of, then educating and entertaining the public through your videos....EXCELLENT JOB!!
I have always said, if people open up, come together on projects and technology WE as a whole can accomplish almost anything. People are generally scared of innovation, scared of losing the "traditional" things in life. Imagine, a phone that we can use while we drive, without a long cord. Imagine, heating your food up in seconds. Imagine, a power saving diode emitting more light than a tungsten bulb...evolution...who woulda thunk it? LOL.
If WE come together and support innovation, it will be much easier, and more enjoyable to progress with success rather than regress or not even trying. EV's may not be for every application or best for all conditions however, if we keep trying WE'LL get there. One of the first cars ever built was electric...Jay Leno owns one. Thanks for helping others see the potential, and thanks for your videos.
Put hydraulics on CyberTrax and a HUGE subwoofer setup on that battery because you would need 10 alternators to provide that battery current otherwise. I literally typed this early in the video and once you mentioned hydraulics I realized this was not just coincidental, I needed to edit and bring something up for you to consider. I put hydraulics on 3 vehicles in my time but that was 20+ years ago. 16 switches will require 4 pumps and 4 dumps or 2 pumps with a gnarly custom made 8 dump manifold and a few extra check valves. Buy lots of extra keys for between the pump head and the motor of the hydraulic pumps because I am sure you guys are gonna put some to the test. 48 Volts might be quick enough (especially with the available amperage) but I don't know what that cyber truck weighs. I would be willing to help brainstorm or even help build. I worked in TV production for 13 years with many networks, mainly for ESPN working as a traveling utility for Monday Night Football. I was an Avionics tech in the Air Force. I am unemployed and would love to help you guys with any project even if its just 1. Thanks for reading.
I really like how Dave spend the time to explain the "science" to us!!
The fender flares you guys made were perfect, especially with the Spacex wrap, great work.

Mad props to Heavy D 👍🏽
Love the explanation. The weaker upper control arm may also play a role in crash safety.
Exactly, components of the suspension are designed to break apart in a crash in order to not be pushed into the cabin and to add crumple zone. People don't understand physics or other design goals that have tradeoffs.
The upper control arms are NOT part of a crumple zone..
The part is trash!! The truck as a whole is junk, give it a year or two and come back to this comment..
@@NewEdgeDesigns Thanks for the clarification. I'm not a crash safety engineer, so i was just speculating.

Great build and that wrap was sick!
I love the Baja idea. Should present some interesting challenges. Power can be an enemy in long distance racing. Power breaks stuff and to much power really breaks stuff. Wheel travel needs to be optimal. Forged steel spindles for that could get spendy. Weight is an enemy. And I'm not sure how much you could shed on that truck. But I'm all in to see you try it!
EV's are already running similar races. Not sure if they ran in Baja, but EV Audis have been running strong in Dakar for a couple years now. They should look at how Audi are handling the power issue.
Not to mention that high heat is hard on batteries.

Buffer the generators on your chase truck with a couple Tesla powerwall batteries, these can be discharged at high kw and then when not charging the cybertruck you can recharge the batteries off the generator or just tap into the grid to recharge in between.

Recharge off a generator....lol. That's the most liberal socialist gobbly goup I've heard all day
@@suckOnThese3 Almost ALL electric vehicles charge off a generator, it just happens to be huge and located many miles from you... sure a few people have enough solar to do it, or wind power but that is rare!
Thank you Heavy D for the common sense opinion on electric vehicles. I say it's the future and at some point I will own one, BUT I travel, pull boats and campers and drive for miles and miles through woods and on frozen lakes. As of now, internal combustion engines are better for that. I can't wait see more of what you do with the Badger and other things like that.

The key to engineering is to build it just good enough to work... But still be the simplest, lightest, cheapest, and fastest to manufacturer. You can always make things stronger, but at what cost? The cost in weight.. the cost in production.. The cost in materials, etc.. Engineers have to thread that needle

Love how open you are to new technology, Dave. I have ICE engine cars and trucks, and I love them. That doesn't mean I can't be interested in electric vehicles as well. I am on many forums so I can learn from current ev vehicle owners, and all you see is hate coming from Internal Combustion engine owners. They are afraid of losing what they love the most and feel threatened. Why else would they go on an all electric forum. All they do is show the obvious shortcomings of ev without showing the obvious advantages. This new wave of electrification of vehicles is still improving and will surpass ICE eventually.
You should invest in a pro fpv drone pilot with a cinema rig on the drone for stuff like this it would make the videos wayyyyyyyy cool

I would love to see it lowered but not gonna lie the Baja idea is wild I would also love to see it.
Show more of the building! That’s the most interesting part!
I have a customer at my work that is in the engineering side of the suspension of that truck and he and all of them at Tesla have seen these videos. He said that upper control arm was designed the way it was because if it was stiffer and didn’t crush when damaged that it would push into the front or rear tub of the chassis and basically total the truck.
We will see its true Toughness.
Just not on this channel.
Whistling Diesel will really test it.
This, it's cheaper to replace a control arm than it is a whole new truck.
