I'm not going to lie, I feel horrible for Hu Yadan. I'd normally expect the Chinese divers to be at the top of their game, but it seems something was wrong with Hu. Perhaps minor injury? What made me feel real bad was the coach seemingly give her the cold shoulder. I know they've got higher standards, but encouragement and positive motivation is what everyone deserves, no matter how good or bad the performance turns out to be. Again, I feel awful for Hu Yadan. I hope she's been improving
You know why Malaysia so happy bcs we never won any medal in olympic except for badminton and then come this girl to break the barrier, so proud of you !!
I feel sorry for the young Chinese diver Hu who was obviously going through some tough time in the beginning. Not only has her coach not comforted her, but also she seemed angry at her for not doing her best. China did a great job raising so many talented divers who all have potentials to win golds. Perhaps, they have too many that they don’t see to care to motivate those who need more mental encouragements. Only the cream of the crops are the ones they care to spend more efforts on working with.
Well, I knew people would be mislead by the commentators' words, lol, if you ever been to China, you would know the culture is different --- hugging and kissing on the cheek is very rare. So, to me I didn't read too much into their body language.
There is nothing to fell sorry about satanic PRC, they deserve far worse than this!!! In fact they shouldn't even be allowed to participate in Olympic for invading surrounding countries.
Ok I read in some Chinese media that Hu Yadan was having conflict with her coach before and at the Olympics. And she did not have injuries at that time, she is just extremely nervous at the first two dives
It’s honestly impressive she ended at 9 with how low her numbers were starting out. She’s very young, take that into consideration. I thought the Ukraine girl would get a medal or at least end up in top 5, but not dead last
The commentators were lovely. Very constructive and educational criticism when necessary, and I really felt that they were pained with the divers at any mishap. You can tell they were truly rooting for them all; with their positively beaming attitudes. The divers were simply amazing and it was a joy to watch their beautiful performances!
Props to them for courage. At our local pool, it was prohibited to jump head first from 10 m (or it was 12 m) to prevent injuries. But even jumping feet first, you would feel the pain when hitting the surface.

Why do the judges not get to see the replay? One would think it would be easy to make this kind of technology available to them and they of all people could use it most!
I'm not sure at all but I feel like when they said that Hu Yadan's coach didn't even talk to her, as a native chinese speaker, i could picture her last word to be '滚“. which essentially means "get lost". again, i can't say that for sure at all. but i do feel bad for her.
I would probably cry if my coach told me to get lost during a competition. Sadly she did not compete in the recent Olympics, hope she's still in the diving team.
Who's ''bright'' idea was it to put up the name banner & score card in front of the contestants? how about in the upper left corner of the screen, so as not to obscure the image of the participant?
What's "wrong" with Hu is her coach. Maybe a lot of coaches like Hu's need to look(online RIP Miss Val) at how Miss Val used to coach her Olympic medal winning team with kindness and reinforcement they might just learn to not only be a coach but a decent human being. On a lighter note i really like Pandelela's (from Malaysia) swimsuit
Maybe it's just me, but I'm surprised to see how incredibly muscular these women are - I was expecting similar body-shapes to the acrobats and gymnasts. Very interesting!
@@winnifredfredrickson6418 oh, absolutely! But gymnasts (I was mostly referring to rythmic gymnastics) have very little body fat too, so they look incredibly slim. The divers have much bulkier shapes, I just didn't expect that, is all I meant.
Sakisasvictorianmask you’re right! Rhythmic gymnasts are extremely thin whereas artistic gymnasts usually look more toned. Divers have a lot of leg muscle so that must be why they have that build!
@@Sakisasvictorianmask Rhythmic gymnasts are built for extreme flexibility and mobility within those ranges of motion. Divers are built more like artistic gymnasts, and as many of these girls are actually women, they will tend to look more muscular or "bulky" as you put it. The need to be all around strong, and do light weight training, plyometrics, and body weight strength work - again, much like artistic gymnasts.

😀 Perfect love cast out all the fair!!!! Find Jesus Christ he loves you and He takes away fear!!! But most importantly he is the WAY the TRUTH and the LIFE no one comes to God but trough Jesus. He is everlasting life, find Him and REPENT of your SINS for the KINGDOM of God is near.
What happened to Hu yadan.
Pandalela Rinong 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Malaysia Boleh
29:25 the commentator literally repeated "who is at the bottom" three times in a row. If that's not called bias, I don't know what it is.
Think it was Who and then Hu
Yang masih tengok pada tahun 2021 hadir 🙋🏻♀️
Why is this in my recommended seven years later? I’m watching it. But why?
Wow I just afraid of doing this but these girls are amazing
Congratulations Malaysian 👏
Me: I don’t get sports
Me watching diving: girl if you would come out of the somersault a little sooner and flatten your palms more you would have that splashless entry
*me:* woah, perfect
*Judges:* gives 7’s
Olympics pyongchang 2018.yes
Great competition. Enjoy a lot!
The women’s are so beautiful and hardworking there beauty is powerful 😍💕
Why do the judges not get to see the replay? One would think it would be easy to make this kind of technology available to them and they of all people could use it most!
Repley 2021 just proud to you pandelela
32 feet is a long way up when i was little i jumped feet first from around 50 feet high and it was like someone hit my feet with a paddle hard
Why does youtube suddenly feel its okay to recommend me this 8 years later?
Wouldn't it be cold leaving the hot tub?!
Probably, but for me when I freeze I get an adrenaline kick so maybe that’s the case?
The pool is freezing
the hot tub is cold tub
I don't know jack about diving, but why do some of the results not count??
The highest and the lowest scores are cancelled out to stop a single judge from messing up the average
The top 2 and bottom 2 are crossed out because it gets a clearer average and because it could also cut out any bias.
Ooooh thank you! 😄😄
Banana Cake
That’s a really good rule. Other sports should do the same.
Thank you for this question. I was scrolling a long time through the comments to get the answer to this question
在多年後的今天回顧這個倫敦2012,更是覺得全紅嬋在2020東奧的466.2如假包換,可能以後沒機會再看到了。
Loved when the commentators talked about a divers mistakes but then that diver got a high score
0:16
3:45
13:18
25:49
37:41
51:20
Go Canada!🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🍁🍁🍁🍁❤️♥️❤️♥️
Malaysia boleh
Go Pandelela!
Who's ''bright'' idea was it to put up the name banner & score card in front of the contestants? how about in the upper left corner of the screen, so as not to obscure the image of the participant?
diving looks SO fun omg
Thanks...
Can somebody explain to me what was wrong with Hu Yudans first dive? It looked pretty clean to me
i have no idea either
The splash was too big
I feel so cold watching these videos, my body just feels cold thinking the water is freezing when it’s probably not
does anyone else think that Chen Ruolin looks EXACTLY like Lily Chee
What's "wrong" with Hu is her coach. Maybe a lot of coaches like Hu's need to look(online RIP Miss Val) at how Miss Val used to coach her Olympic medal winning team with kindness and reinforcement they might just learn to not only be a coach but a decent human being. On a lighter note i really like Pandelela's (from Malaysia) swimsuit
18.50" super nice close up slow mo!!
Maybe it's just me, but I'm surprised to see how incredibly muscular these women are - I was expecting similar body-shapes to the acrobats and gymnasts. Very interesting!
Sakisasvictorianmask wdym? Gymnasts are extremely muscular as well
@@winnifredfredrickson6418 oh, absolutely!
