Wonderful work, and really well explained. I am really enjoying this series. Did I miss the part where you painted the helmets and armour? Can I ask what paints you used for those parts?
Vallejo Metal Color Steel and Vallejo Metal Color Aluminium are my go to for base and highlight. Usually washed with Dark Tone or Nuln Oil before it became glossy.
the bases are MDF so medium density fiber board that was laser cut to the right proportions. 3mm thick and 50x80mm so roughly 2x3.5 inches and 1/8th of an inch thick
it's called filler or spackle in english. It's usually used to fix holes and minor damage in walls. You can usually get it at DIY or craft markets either pre mixed or as a powder that you add water too. Gypsum is another valid thing to use.
