you gotta wonder just... why?? Chris is barely in the game and his fursona doesn't even appear in game. The lycan's aren't just wolves so like... Whyy? You have 4 pretty cool looking Villains, and also Moreau I guess. Why not put them on the box art if they're really that afraid to show Ethan's Ben Shapiro looking ass face, or hell have Ethan looking away with the lords and Miranda bearing down on him or just.. Anything other than solumn Chris talking about how on all levels except physical he is a wolf

I fucking love the Yakuza 3 western box art, instead of just giving westerns the japanese boxart, they had to give kiryu the biggest blank stare any character has gotten

Basically, it was just some FMV quiz show game recorded over Spring Break in some place, where-in the women would flash the camera under certain circumstances (I assume it's if you get the correct answers). One of the women in that game lied about being of-age at the time of filming, thus making the game child you-know-what. I think she used fake ID for it, since I don't think the guy that made the game ever went to jail for it. The sleezy director eventually released a disc with just the FMVs to try and capitalize off of the controversy, but after that I don't think anyone's heard anything from him since.

Opera GX being based off Chrome but marketing itself as not Chrome is so bizarre

It's based on Chromium, Google's open source browser engine that Google's own browser Chrome runs on. It's also faster than Chrome and has lots of features that chrome doesn't have.

The 3DS games is technically where "American Kirby" ended but Kirby is pissed in all regions for Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot. The Kirby American box art trend only started in Kirby Air Ride on the GameCube and continued to Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland for the GBA, Kirby & The Amazing Mirror also for the GBA, Kirby Squeak Squad for the DS, and the original Kirby Returns to Dreamland for the Wii.

Of all the Sonic games I played (sadly didn't include Colours, Generations or even the Advance games), I liked the box art cause they were the only ones I saw that had Sonic actually frown for a change.

I'm assume you're joking about Book Covers but honestly Books have it the worse because with Video games you can find modern stuff with good covers and a lot of them, with Books you're shit out of luck they have the most samey covers dark background, character or prop slightly transparent, title on top, author on bottom, and send it. That's how most books covers are today, now let's compare that to back in the day where they would draw a scene with a detailed background and our characters, sure they still fall into samey but at least they're doing something

If you look at children's books they still have good covers
The Lunar Chronicles series has beautiful hand-drawn cover art in one version... but the only version I could physically buy for most of the books was the boring version with the title and like one stock photo.
I think it kinda depends on the genera of books, like comic books are often known for having interesting cover arts, and so as some original children’s books. I think it tends to be the worst when it comes to licensed stuff, sense it gives them an excuse to just plaster in pre-existing promo art.
Just publish the game with comic sans text and we’ll buy it anyways
The God of War one was intentional, and it was meant to be a parallel. This surprisingly wasn’t one of the cases of reusing assets.

Fun fact: Ken Levine, the director of BioShock and BioShock Infinite, deliberately had BioShock Infinite's box art changed to cater to the Call of Duty demographic, and the feedback was so overwhelmingly negative to how generic the box art was that the game shipped with a reversible cover, which showcased art much more emblematic of the final game. The same thing happened with DOOM 2016.
As amazing as the game is, the box art was heavily criticized for being unremarkable, so the game shipped with another reversible cover, as did DOOM Eternal, though that might be to keep consistency.
I'm not sure about splatoon 1 but if you take out the box art cards for splatoon 2 and 3 and put them back in side out not only do you get a special alt covers to show of salmon run and hero mode but the spine of the box is designed to look like a splatoonified version of the regular spine with an inkling squid replacing the switch logo.
P.s in Europe we got our own box art for Breath of the Wild and it pretty much just a screen shot that someone just painted and stuck on the front of the box

Actually it’s the opposite (for me at least). The box art is similar to Bioshock since the game is in first person and you barely see V. And the game is practically perfect now with all of the patches and updates. It took them three years but here we are

I know the book cover video idea at the end was a joke but I genuinely want more people to talk about the fact EVERY GOD DAMN ROMANCE BOOK HAS A CARTOON COVER NOW. Like I've had to tell multiple parents that the book they're gonna buy their child has spicy scenes in it. Give me back the shirtless men!

Yeah, he's not blaming them. Some box art is just very rushed or uncreative. And because the art is rushed, it just makes it look awful.
Well, I didn't expect this. Not only did I get a Diamondbot video on the day I started senior year, but I also got one on the day I graduated. I'm two and a half hours from graduation and all I need to say is thank you Adam/Diamondbolt for being a big part of my time in school. (also I'm serious, it was the "Watching Terrible Mobile Game Ads" that came out on the day school started, you can check.) Here's to the future.
I feel like the god of war box art is an exception. The reason for that is due to the original box art showing Kratos’ battles but then the two new box art shows it’s more of an adventure and even shows the time gap between the two games. I feel like even though it’s the same pose, they evoke two different adventures.

The disrespect to the Zelda box art is crazy. They are IMO some of the best box art ever made. The encapsulate the games perfectly and are beautiful unlike other art it’s also hand drawn.

I do not know why but i bursted out laughing when you showed the 2 copies of Knack.
The Resident Evil 2 Remake box art makes it work though because it was made to pay homage to the original art from the OG 1998 game and Darkside Chronicles cause they later use that same pose of Leon and Claire for that game's art. So in that case, it made sense for the box art to look like it does.

Something I find interesting is that ace attorney collection box art is better than most of the games in the collections box art except for The Great Ace Attorney games and their collection's box art, where they are all great because those games are goated
Yeah standardized box art just makes everything look boring. The Uncharted series is amazing yet every game is just Nate standing there holding a gun with something happening in the background.
Like cmon, have him take up less space and show the wrecked train/plane front and center and I guarantee it'll look more exciting.
At the very least i'll give props to the Nathan Drake collection for the treasure map aesthetic it's box art has even if it is just Nate standing there again.
I disagree, action packed cover art makes the game art too messy and annoying, I think Rockstar games has great cover art that a great version of "standardized" cover art
@@channel45853 I guess, the GTA style of cover art could work for Uncharted, but i'm also thinking how it was inspired by the likes of the Indiana Jones movies which have beautiful hand drawn posters which the Legacy Of Thieves collection replicates pretty well. Or they could go the route of the Resident Evil 0/4 PAL covers where there's a silhouette of the important object and then fill it with Nathan Drake collection's treasure map pattern. Don't get me wrong, the existing box art is pretty good, I just wish they looked a bit more eye catching since the series feels very special to me.
I mean, some of those Box arts try to make the game more "Serious" just to get people's attention. But with Games that were based off movies, They make it look like a Movie Poster with Games such as 'Ghostbusters: The video Game', 'Back to the future the game' which is literally just the original posters of the movies, Which is Alright.
But with games from Valve, They always have ones with detail like 'Portal' with the Caution sign, 'Half-Life' Expansions made the covers looking like the original box art of 'Half-Life' to show It's a Half-Life game. And Finally 'Left 4 Dead' series having the same Zombie hand but in the Sequel it does a Peace sign or a Number 2 sign.
Plus, Some games that came out in different Regions had different Titles than the Original. Like with Rockstar's 'Bully' in Pal regions is called "Canis Canem Edit" Latin for "Dog Eat Dog" which means people are willing to Harm each other to succeed. Rockstar was bad ass.
