Awesome video you're very knowledgeable!!!! I would love to see more videos of you breaking down some more abstract concepts and/or things we might've missed in the Pokémon series or other retro games!
I’d probably say Gold/Ethan •Typhlosion •Ampharos •Togetic(GS)/Togekiss(HG) •Gyarados* •Bellossom •Umbreon I typically try to build these teams with a few things in mind, 1. The team can use all required HMs 2.That they have the starter type triangle so that other starters can easily be chosen without having to change the team 3. Use guaranteed encounters whenever possible, using this rule we can already fill out a number of HM users with the Red Gyarados and Togetic/Togekiss. As for grass types I feel either Bellossom or Sunflora could work as both are gen 2 grass types but in the end I chose Bellossom as it’s a gold version exclusive which I feel is the main timeline for Ethan/Gold though Sunflora is a good alternative for Silver version. As for the remaining slots, Umbreon is an obvious choice as it’s a gift Pokémon and a good counterpart to Red’s Espeon as you mentioned, finally I chose Ampharos as it’s a common and iconic encounter that is heavily associated with Gold/Ethan and can use the HM flash SoulSilver/Lyra •Meganium •Azumarill •Togekiss •Lanturn •Girafarig •Flareon For Lyra I used the Pokémon she (or Ethan) has in HGSS which grants us Girafarig and Azumarill which gives us our water type and a water HM user from here we add in Togekiss a gift Pokémon which also acts as a fly user. From here I added Lanturn as it’s the only electric type in Gen 2 aside from Ampharos and it can also use water HM’s. Finally I chose Flareon as it’s both the gift Eevee and it fills the fire type slot Crystal/Kris •Feraligatr •Victreebel •Togetic/Togekiss •Houndoom •Gyarados* •Jolteon Finally for Kris and like before I chose Togetic to start for the same reasons as before, from there I added Houndoom as it’s a gen 2 fire type and Victreebel as it’s a common encounter in general thus filing the 2 remaining type slots from here we can chose Jolteon as our gift Eeveelution as it fills our electric type slot. Finally I would have chosen the Scyther->Scizor from the Bug Catching Contest, if it weren’t for the fact that Feraligatr CAN’T LEARN WATERFALL IN GSC! Meaning that we have to have another water type so that we can beat the game and with that in mind I chose the Red Gyarados again it’s a guaranteed Water Type encounter that can learn Waterfall
I loved this video! But I really missed a discussion on whether including Kenya the Fearow and the Fridays Lapras, both of which are related to new game mechanics (held mail and days of the week) and provide great balance to the team from early to mid game. To be sure, Lapras is even the default sprite for the surfing mode, and appears highlighted in the intro cutscene

I generally agree with your conclusion, but thought of 2 more possible contenders. The first is Shuckle. It is given to you on the understanding that you would give it back, but if it's friendship is high enough, the trainer will tell you to keep it. The second one is a bit of a stretch with Slowking. While playing through the game, the player HAS to go into Slowpoke Well, where the Slowpoke have had their tails cut off by Team Rocket. The gimmick that appears in the anime (but not the games) is that they evolve into Slowbro when a Shellder bites their tail (which is now impossible) and evolve into a Slowking when a Shellder bites their head.
There's an official artwork with a Scizor so I always include it in Gold/Ethan official team whom I assume he got as a Scyther at the bug catching contest. Next are Typhlosion, Togetic/Togekiss, Umbreon, Dragonite and I used to go for the Red Gyarados but Gamefreak seems to habe given it to Lance so I now go for either Sudowoodo, Tyrogue from Mt. Mortar or more apropiately Lapras from Union Cave.
I feel like his version still works better. Yours is stilll good but you have to look at in tiers of canonincty. Let me explain. Canonincty tier 1 would be things that are officially tied to the game like gift pokemon, mandatory encounter pokemon and pokemon the protags had in official trailers for the game like the ORAS animated trailer. Canonincty tier 2 would be things that arent canon but are tightly linked to the actual canon like official artwork, the manga, or non canon games like pokemon masters or Origins. Canonincty tier 3 are things that you should only use to help make an official team if your desperate. This would be things like anime appearances and other miscellaneous movie apparences.

With Green's team being his RGB team minus a starter and him never reusing any of his Yellow team in later games leads me to think RGB/FRLG is canonical. Honestly a steel type would have been perfect as well. Plus the bug catching contest being a new introduction to johto is another great point as it’d represent a new element added in these games. It was surprisingly hard to narrow it down to just 6 Pokémon haha
Ethan should have Feraligatr, Houndoom, Tyranitar, Scizor is pretty iconic even today, Donphan and Ampharos. That is a pretty good Johto team but can swap Houndoom for a Typhlosion but all the Johto mains are covered. Scizor can be swapped for Skarmory but Skarmory suits Silver more than Ethan who would of probably caught a Scyther in the Bug Contest anyways. No Legendaries though and Togetic is kind of a meh Pokemon without it's evo or eviolite existing.

Can you continue doing theses protag true team videos? Once saw a guy do up til sinnoh but never got passed that and it’s been 6 years ☠️
I guess it would be a starter, togepi, seudowoodo, red gyarados, gift eevee, odd egg pokemon
Holy crap you're underrated
We love a handsome poketuber
I would have included the spikey ear pichu
Great video dude
Thanks :)
Plz do Brendan
No steel type I think scissor should have nben included it was a new type as well as a new. Way of evolution
It also represents the bug catching contest, probably a toss up between a scyzor and the hitmon
Honestly a steel type would have been perfect as well. Plus the bug catching contest being a new introduction to johto is another great point as it’d represent a new element added in these games. It was surprisingly hard to narrow it down to just 6 Pokémon haha
You are actually good
Ethan should have Feraligatr, Houndoom, Tyranitar, Scizor is pretty iconic even today, Donphan and Ampharos.
6:15 💀💀💀💀
Let’s go is main series game
Lugia gotta be in the team
Okay I'm late. But Kris gets the Dratini and ethan gets scizor. Haven't checked if you did a Kris pokemon list
Nice
What I would say:
Smeargle
Raichu ( he has a pichu in hgss)
Tysplosion
Togekiss
Gyrados ( the shiny one)
Tyranitar
Just play as Lyra and find out
His team would be
Meganium
Typhlosion
Feraligatr
Marill
Sudowoodo
Eevee (have no idea what eeveelution it would be).
Hit me up
Plz upload more
Definitely! Life got in the way but next video is in the works ^_^
@@davudude9522 alright i just need good content for my entertainment, thx
Are all the male protagonist canon
Nah it was just for this video since both gold and silver didn’t have a female option. But the gender doesn’t really matter tbh
Are you Brazilian? You called the legendary bird "Ho-ho". (°0°)
Nah middle eastern but it’s how I always pronounced it as a kid. Just rolled off the tongue better
@@davudude9522 I think kids are kids in every country LMAO 🤣
W vid man keep goin!
Just found out im in pokemon
Yellow 🟡 wasn't based off red it was based off of ash
What no suckle?
Better team all 3 starter Tyranitar Amapharous scizor/Steelix/umbereon/Heracross gold team
I thought his name was gold
Yeah I thought so too, in the manga he’s referred to as gold but seems like the games has his name as Ethan
