@Itzmxr Red is ash. Even in Pokémon red, the first ‘real’ name to choose from was ash. The Pokémon tv show didn’t just make up a new character, red is ash. Look at them, they both come from pallet town, have the same house, have the same mother, look the same and HECK even have a pikachu as they’re ace. They are both rivals with Gary/blue (which Gary is also the first real name you can choose for your rival) is the grandson of professor oak. Red and ash are the same people.
@Itzmxr I see where your going, but he was only renamed to advertise and give nostalgia for the original games of red and blue. The blue jacket? They gave ash a blue jacket so that both players of pokemon red and players of blue would be pleased. Also, go ahead and read the Pokemon red manual, in it, they continuously refer to red as ‘ash’. Aside that, you cant tell me that the name ‘ash’ in the list of names was a coincidence, along with pikachu, having a rival whose the grandson of prof oak, living in the same house, with the same dream, in the same timeline (characters from the anime like misty and brock are the same age) with gary also being the first real name on the rival name list, and LITERALLY having the same mother. Why do you think red and ash never meet in the anime?? They always include pretty much every important protagonist in the anime, so why not red? Duh, cause they are the same, and therefore cannot meet. Also, Red and blue are not real names, they created those names to honor the versions, but the canon ones where ash and gary. As much as you say about manga, that universe was largely different from the anime. Also, both ash and red are champions now. Eventually, throughout the anime gary and ash became closer, just as seen in the games, as gary and ash are now always together. The pokemon tv show was made in 1997, imagine being the devs of the games- they just created a pokemon video game, and it bursted with popularity. They wanted to make a TV show so that they could expand the universe better. They wanted it to revolve around the same events as the original pokemon game, they needed a protagonist. Where they gonna create a all-new one? No, they where gonna use the already created one- the original names of the protagonist of PKMN red where: Red, Ash, and Jack. Red was obviously not a good name, so they went with name number 2- ash. They went through the same process with gary. The characters where created and then portrayed in the show. Let me rule out there differences: DIFFERENCES: 1. Ash didnt win the first pokemon league like red did: Red was 14 when he officially won the league, ash remained 10 throughout the whole tv show. Who knows if he will beat the Pokemon league someday? 2. Red is much more powerful than ash: No, hes not. Hes just not. 3. Red doesnt travel with misty or brock: This is because its a old video game, they didnt have the capability to add such elements. Also, to add on TV shows always need more characters, and the video game was more about the players journey than reds. Just because it didnt happen directly in pokemon red, doesnt mean it didn’t happen. 4. Ash traveled to almost all the different regions while red did not: Everyone is just assuming that, clearly he went to unova, and aloha. Who knows where else hes been? 5. Red cant talk/chooses not too: In pokemon johto/yellow when you battle red, he doesnt say anything. Why? Not cause he cant talk, because the scene is the final battle in the game and is meant to be cinematic and emotional, having no words is the best way to do that. In the newer games… id just say they picked up on that, i also heard that they wanted to get people who have never seen the anime something to remember; that he cant talk. Plus, red was 11 in those games, ash as a 10 year old still has LOTS of time to grow into the edgy person red is 6. Red/Blue jacket: Red has a red jacket only to signify his version of pokemon; pokemon red. In other pokemon game merchandise, such as yellow and blue, (minifigures for example) have fully yellow or blue clothes, such as they’re hat and jacket. Also, when the anime was made, it was only made to premote pokemon red and blue, so they let him keep the red hat to resemble red, and changed his jacket to blue to respect pokemon blue players. 7. Ash has zigzag cheeks, red does not: Cmon, of course the full-on TV show will have more look details than the video games will. Especially with the first 8 bit ones. It’s just how things work. Now let us rule out the similarities. SIMILARITIES: 1. They both have the same pokemon 2. They both have the same mother 3. They both have the same rival (grandson of professor oak) 4. They both became champion at some point 5. They are both the original pokemon protagonists 6. They both live in the same house, in the same room 7. They both set off to become pokemon masters, with that being they’re primary goal 8. They are both the strongest pokemon trainers 9. They both look the same (aside from color differences in clothing) 10. They both traveled to the Unova and Alolan region 11. They both have variations of all the starter pokemon (they probably evolved over time) 12. They both have the same story arcs (read the manual to pokemon red/blue) 13. They where both referred to as ‘ash’ in the game manuals Now let’s talk about why Pokemon differentiates these characters so often. Back when they first created Pokémon, they did not care about the characters names, as they didn’t even expect the game to become that popular. So, they just made the first names on the lists- ‘red’ to resemble Pokémon red and ‘blue’ to resemble Pokémon blue. Once they created the series, this was of course changed. But unfortunately the fanbase was already split, some still stuck with the name red, and some loving ash. They had to neutralize it by calling game ash red, but still trying to resemble ash, with the obvious addition of Pikachu and the other starters to his team. Look at super smash bros ultimate, they didn’t want to disappoint anyone so they named red/ash ‘Pokemon trainer’ CONCLUSION: So, is red ash? Yes, there is no reason for otherwise, so until it is absolutely impossible for red to be ash, (such as a straight up confirmation from the devs) he will remain ash in canon. Could i say it was the original intention? Definitely, there is no doubt for that. Could i say that is the intention now? Not really, but they still seem to be sort of clinging on to that idea. So yes, red is ash, and Gary is blue.
@Itzmxr I dont think you understand what i am saying. The manga AND the anime are BOTH seperate universes from the GAMES. Also, the writer of the manga and the writer of the anime were two different people, making them both have two different ideas on red. Also, reds jacket was only changed to blue in the anime so that he would represent both pokemon versions, the red hat representing pokemon red, and the blue jacket representing pokemon blue, but it is still red, they just changed his clothing a bit just like all tv shows would do with there main characters. Also, artwork from long ago tend to get colors off alot, so dont expect many pluses there- and by the way… WHO SAID RED IS SERIOUS?? We have absolutely no idea what red acts like, he is only shown in the games as saying things like “…”. IF red is serious and ash is not, it would make sense because red in pokemon johto and yellow is 11 years old (aka 1 year older then ash), meaning that ash may not be silent now, but maybe when ash turns 11 he will start being serious too. And by the way, ash didn’t WIN the Pokémon league at 14, it OFFICIAL, in other words CONFIRMED that he was champion at 14. He is called the champion of the Kanto league in many instances of Pokémon sun/moon and black/white where in those games he is 14. And either way, ash is nor 11 or 14, he is 10, giving him a whole other 1-3 years to become more like his videogame counterpart. Also, let me clear something up, NONE of the characters fit the description of their game counterpart, but they still are their game counterparts, right? Take misty for example, misty in the games never goes on a journey with ash, is 12 years old, (unlike misty from the anime who is 10) and is the only water type gym leader. Also Serena, Serena had a very different story in the games as opposed to her anime form, but it still IS Serena and misty, right? Just like red and ash have there different story’s in the games and anime, but they are still the same.
@Itzmxr Look, we both have our different perspectives, but can we at least agree that red is just the video game ash? Just like every other canon video game character that appears in the anime, they are very different from there video game forms. It is all just a TV show adaptation and as far as I’m concerned the TV show is not canon with the games. So, could you at least agree that red and ash are the same person technically, but one is from the video game canon, experiencing a lot different from the one who is from the anime canon? The TV show didn’t care about lore problems, they only thought about the characters bases.
I grew up in an era before the internet spoiled everything, so imagine my reaction when my Pupitar suddenly evolved into a powerful Tyranitar without my knowing of such an evolution. Imagine my shock when my puny Remoraid evolved into a questionable octopus Pokémon that is Octillery. Imagine what I felt after beating the Johto Elite Four and having Kanto open up out of nowhere. Lastly, imagine what I felt when I climbed up to the top of the mountain at the end of Pokémon Gold, wondering what in the world was going on, and encountering Red as the last challenger of this game. It was a magical, magical moment. Truly there’s no other game that can make me feel the way I did than Pokémon Gold. Thank you for an incredible childhood! ...
I was 10 when I played and beat this game back in the day. So much mystery and innocence back then, and the Internet was nowhere near as provolone as it is today..
I remember when I went up and talked to him because I didn't know who he was, and then the battle started and I shat myself when I saw his level 81 Pikachu
32 soon. I still remember playing pokémon blue on a gameboy that a friend lent me. It was such a magical experience at the time. Can't believe it's already been 20 years...
I remember going up there for the first time when I was 11 years old. When I realized I was going to battle myself from the previous generation, it genuinely blew my mind.
@@_skaadii , you are incorrect, in the first 2 games, Red chooses a venusaur and blue chooses charizard(I think?), Red catches a pikachu first, then he gets the rest of his team, and uses pikachu the most. Ash is not that strong, Ash is a weak pokemon trainer who doesn't get their badges
@@evbooo ashe glumanda bisasam and schiggy (i dont knew thet english names) also he had Relaxo aswell Ash was weak at the start he was a human and not superoverpowered Pokemon trainer early on like yu gi oh with his cards xD
it is easy to beat red. now that we all know his pokemons and movesets... but nobody beat him the first time we saw him in that mountain... thats for sure
Enrique Pena nah the first time i battled red was in soul silver and i didn't know he even was there i just did what oak told me and i went to mt silver and i saw him and was like who is that even thought my pokemon were underleveled i still beat him on the first try
I still remember the craziness of running into Red. You can't recreate a surprise like that anymore, it simply can't be done. One of the most iconic fictional battles in history.
I was ready for a legendary Pokemon. It was just like RBY, you beat the Kanto league and unlocked a new cave. When I came to that final room I was ready for Mewtwo... I wasn't ready for Red. I was confused and didn't quite believe it until he sent out that epic Pikachu. This was really it. Not a legendary Pokemon, but THE legendary trainer.
@S292 I would have treated it with the same reverence I do RPGs like Lufia 2 and the original two Golden Sun games. Both series, ironically, also ruined their legacy.
This is probably one of the most chilling and at the same time most badass moment in entire pokemon series. After a long journey through Mt. Silver filled with exceptionally high lvl wild pokemon and empty of any trainers, you finally reach the top. The music goes completely quiet. As you go up, you notice someone standing in front of you. Upon closer inspection you find out that it's a main character from original games. You interact with him. All he says is chilling "...". And then the final battle starts. Even the cliche build up sound before battles doesn't play, it's just epic music from champion battle. The moment you see a lvl 81 Pikachu showing up, you know that it's gonna be one heck of a tough fight. God, i love this moment in game so much.
It’s really sad how Game Freak has never been able to top Gold and Silver. Not only are they the best games in Pokémon, but they the best sequels of any game ever made. Can anyone even think of a game that improves SO heavily on the foundation of the first installment?
I think what made it best was that this was pre-internet era for most people. I was a kid playing this and there was no online guides or anything. I just played it knowing nothing in advance and so the surprise and excitement was genuine. Nowadays the encounter would have been spoiled somehow beforehand (youtube, social media, online reviews, etc).
@@Laughy-Flaaffy Banjo Tooie improved on everything to me. You started out with every move from the first game and then you learn more, and the levels were bigger and connected in clever ways.
@@mainman3476 Years ago back from 2003-2005 I hoped Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald would have an event where Gold (Ethan in HeartGold/SoulSilver) visits Hoenn and you get to battle him... But apparently not.
Who else thinks Gold/Silver/Crystal are the best games in the series? They added so much cool stuff that never showed up again in later generations. Like being able to fight Red, visiting Kanto, etc.
Lots of new Pokémon are dogwater and/or are found in Kanto/ level 20 wild Pokémon outside the 8th gym etc. are reasons why gen 2 is not fondly remembered by some Pokéfans
Basically, for those who wonder where Red is after you win the battle, he might disappear because he *blacked out* like any player would (he’s the player from gen 1)
About Red: "He can be battled on the summit of Mt. Silver after Professor Oak gives you permission to visit the secret area, and will disappear after he is defeated. However, he will return for a rematch after you beat the Elite Four again".
This video perfectly encapsulated how it was for most of us. No IV heavy lvl 100 teams. No stealth rock leech seed protect tactics. Just a kid with their high level starter and high level Ampharos, with a balanced roster of mid level hanger-ons. You reach the peak of the mountain, and the music stops for the first time in the entire game. Just silence, and then, the final battle begins.
Gold:Hey bro, i'm lost, do you know the way for Pokemon cen- Trainer Red wants to fight Trainer Red send Charizard Gold:Hey, dude, what are you doin- Charizard used Fire Blast Unlucky Trainer Gold now is a Charcoal
For me, one of the best plot twist in video Game history. And im not kidding. Being an 11 years old, been waiting years for another Pokémon after spending more than 200 hours in Pkmn Yellow, beating the Game, then going back to Kanto to defeat your oldest rivals.... ... and the final challenge apears without warning. Youre battling YOURSELF. The character you spend 200 + hours with. This Game design is genius. And a masterclass of sequel development
I was wondering why Red had an Espeon, but then I researched it and you get Espeon by leveling up your Eevee with high friendship (during the day). Sure, it might be just something unintended by the developers, but it actually makes a lot of sense and shows just how strong the bond between Red and his Pokémon is after all those years pass.
wish he had a mewtwo instead as his last pokemon our minds already exploded when we saw the 81 pikachu imagine if his last was a mewtwo would of been even more epic.
@@bennypoo My absurdly high level typhlosion was always my trump card. Grass/bug types? Flamethrower. Ice? Flamethrower. Ground? Flamethrower. Fighting/Psychic/Normal? Flamethrower. Fuckin Max level blastoise? Flamethrower.
Still to this day one of the coolest moments in video games when the music kicks in. As a kid the slow realization of what was happening sinking in and seeing that level 81 pikachu. Legendary moment
Painfully nostalgic watching this clip because it literally feels like I'm re-experiencing all those emotions of adventure and wonder as a kid again... It also feels like there's a time skip in my life from 11 to 30 yrs old and here I am now.
Really? It does make sense if I think about it. Conquring Johto Then replay Kanto all the way through Get all 8 badges there Finding the original protagonist from Gen 1 standing atop the mountain in between both regions He never says anything before or after the fight All of his starters are high levels He disappears after the fight, leaving your character standing there as the true champion Yeah, I guess it does make sense that it would have been the final game, and Red as the final boss. Even with that abrupt disappearance of Red, and then the credits play out.
That really is incredible to think about. I think us being deprived of Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald + Fire Red/Leaf Green remakes would have been a loss for the world, but there’s no doubt Pokemon has spread itself too thin with the soulless garbage cash grab it has sadly become.
I remember being a young child, playing this game for the first time. Climbing that mountain with no idea what was at the top. My jaw dropped when the battle started and I saw who it was.
Got my ass whipped the first time I battled him. Had to go back and train and level up to beat him. Pokemon SIlver/Gold/Crystal were probably the best pokemon games of all time. They had extreme replay value.
@@edwardgaines6561 it wasn't empty before, there must've been a shiny legendary deep in there, which red had just got and was feeding rare candies when we got there
I remember the first time I reached this battle when I was a kid. I was wondering why the sudden silence ? Then the champion theme started playing and the lvl 81 Pikachu appeared. My heart started beating at full speed 😂 I knew that shit just got REAL .This was the golden age of gaming
Imagine Red's Snorlax in Gen 4 on the Red zone then he uses a full restore then freezes you with blizzard on the red zone too then you also have to use a fr
I say bullsh*t to level 68 typhlosion out speeding a level 81 pikachu Edit: lol im dumb, don’t remember commenting this. Been 3 years and yea I can definitely see typhlosion out speeding pikachu
I remember when I was younger (roughly when the original Hoenn games were the most recent gen), and playing my cousin's Gold version for him (he wasn't able to for hard to explain circumstances). Basically I just wandered around Mt Silver since I wasn't entirely sure what to do, and somehow I ended up finding Red in his spot. Keep in mind that my knowledge of Pokemon lore at this point was, shall we say, lacking. The internet wasn't readily available at the time either. In other words, I was caught totally off guard by this quiet young boy, who suddenly wanted to battle and was clearly not to be trifled with. Somehow, despite not knowing what exactly I was doing, I managed to beat Red on my first try. I never encountered this guy before that point, and I still was unsure what precisely had happened. I never realized just _how_ difficult Red was until the Internet and TH-cam were more readily available. I felt oddly accomplished, despite the fact I'm certain it was a mere fluke. That memory has oddly stuck with me after all these years. Watching this video made me remember the whole thing, though. And if you're wondering, no I never did tell my cousin about Red.
@smb85 dkc94 Would be awesome Tbh don't get me wrong I like Gen 3&4 but the Idea behind it always playing as the old Hero and then as the new Hero in new Gen's would be neat.
Pokémon will NEVER be like this again. This is back when GameFreak thought pokemon good and silver were going to be the end so they put their heart and soul into this game and it all culminated in this final battle. It truly was as epic as it sounds. Too bad the new generation of Pokémon fans will never get something like this
One of the best parts about games like this back in the day was discovering this yourself. There was no youtube, tiktok etc giving you guides of how to get this and that. All just pure exploration. I miss the thrills so much
to this day I still play games like that, and Nintendo still provides this experience (zelda botw for example), internet guides most of the time ruins the experience, but also save a lot of time so, good and bad hahah
You guys will never know my struggle of the first time playing Gold version. I had Lugia at level 70 for being my strongest Pokémon while the rest of my team was either about to become level 60 or at level 52-3. It was INSANITY! In the end, I revived my Quagsire and Surfed his Charizard into oblivion. I remember how slow the HP bar for his Pokémon were. It was the worst seconds of my life.
My lvl 32 Weepinbell managed to kill Lance's Dragonite (after it had wiped the rest of my team) because it didn't have any attacks left. Then, fighting against douchebag Gary, he took on 2 attacks by a Venusaur twice it's level. It's just knowing what works and what doesn't lol.
Omfg this battle is so iconic man. There was MT. Silver background music playing and as soon as you step to Red, it just stops, followed by .... And then the hardest drop in all of gaming history. What was crazy is how nervous and low key scared i was because you think it's just another NPC not fully expecting how intense this was going to be.
Don’t care what anyone says, those of us blessed enough to grow up with gold and silver on Gameboy, and the Pokémon anime on the tv after school really had it good. Miss that shit man 😭
When Red disappears at the end.. I have this weird empty feeling. Pure desire for adventure and answers. Where does Red go? What does Gold do next? The BEST pokemon game ever. It's real feel can never be recreated.
I too feel sad. In Gen 1, you built Red up into the legend he becomes. Only in Gen 2, do you have to dispatch the very person you helped create. Almost like a younger brother finally beating the older brother. So yeah, it's a sucky feeling...
I still remember the exact moment I first encountered red as a kid. Was standing in my kitchen, yellow Gameboy colour, bright sunny day. Went and sat in the living room on the big grey chair and said "lvl 81..."
It took me 62 total hours to beat this game and 20 of those were spent training for this fight alone. We literally go from fighting trainers in the Lvl 40s to a guy who's opening Pokémon is Lvl 81. Blue's the second strongest Trainer in the region and his strongest Pokémon is barely around the same Level as Red's weakest. The sheer fact he forces to train and train hard before you can even stand a chance against his *first* Pokémon truly makes it feel like this is less of a battle and more like it's the final and by far the hardest stretch you have to climb to finish scaling a mountain. This combined with the incredible levels of nostalgia this fight invokes easily makes Red my favourite Final Boss in all of Videogame history.
It's like the original version of Soul of Cinder, really. Yourself from a previous game, and with all the experience that implies. It's a special kind of feeling that only video games can pull off, and I really respect any that attempt to do it.
i remember always being so diseapointed i never got to fight Gold in Ruby/Sapphire. This would have been one kick ass tradition to keep going. The Ultimate test for Trainers, Yourself.
@@omegamanGXE yeah, I dindt word it right, but it seem like that that the Hoenn games happen at the same time as the Kanto games, before Gold started his adventure
Just imagine discovering this when the games were first out, way before the internet was as informational as it is today. How incredible that must've been.
Pokémon was something else in the 90s-00s when you were 10 years old and got to hold a video game in your pocket and cable battle with the neighbor kids
Story time from the perspective of someone born in 2002. Man, it really sucks that I never grew up with this type of stuff. I'm one of the people who got into Pokemon too late. My brother hogged the Game Boy so he could keep playing Pokemon Yellow. He played it so much that he broke it somehow to the point where he couldn't save and all the sprites were replaced with black boxes. We gave it away after that (Or maybe it's still in the attic, but it's probably junk now). My brother also played in secret the second generation just so I wouldn't piggyback on him. But that would've been pointless anyway since Game Boy Colors were coming to an end, so I've never even HEARD of G/S/C until the end of elementary school. And even before that fiasco, my brother also hogged Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. (He had all 3 of them and wouldn't let me play one because he thought I'd mess up his precious file the he completed so many times. Spoiled brat much?) Due to such an annoyance, I was never able truly see the beauty of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation of Pokemon. My first ever Pokemon game was Pearl and Platinum, so the 4th generation holds a special place in my heart. I've played through the aforementioned generations, but... nothing clicks. They're great games don't get me wrong, but they're not at their peak anymore. Main Point: I just wish I was a big Pokemon fanatic back then so I can battle tough trainers like this! Sure emulators exist, but it's not the same. If I battle Red right now, I'll level up my Pokemon about 1 or 2 levels lower because I KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. I just wanna go back in time and be that kid who discovers Red and has to keep trying a couple of times. It would make winning very satisfying and make me feel proud for beating the toughest trainer. Nowadays, beating Red isn't even something that would boost your ego. He's just a nuisance in nuzlockes, randomizers, or both now. I wish I was there with the hype that was "Did you defeat Red yet? He's so tough! I can't do it!" Now it's all about EV training and whatnot. End of story/mini rant. Continue on with your day.
i was born in 1994 and was in school when pokemon was huge. the first game i ever played was diamond. i don't know why my siblings and i never had gameboy games but i don't think we really knew about them which is odd. anyway, when i first played silver in college it was 2014 and i stumbled upon red in that cave. i had no idea what was going on or who he was. he destroyed me and i was so confused about what just happened. if you hadn't looked it up or found out about it somehow, you would have had that experience. play the old games. there may be some surprises regardless of when you were born or when you first got into pokemon.
A strange affinity I have with old Pkmn games is that HP falls at a set rate so if a move does huge damage you watch as the meter slowly decreases and it built so much tension especially in a deciding turn (ex. 4:55). In modern games it scales so if you OHKO it drops really quickly. That was a big letdown for me.
I agree with this one. There’s something about watching your Pokémon’s health drop real slow that just puts you on the edge of your seat like “come on, don’t faint don’t faint”. I love it.
“Holy Shit! It’s him! I was him!!!” - the realization when it was the guy you play as in the first generation. No clear mention him prior until the very end. And what an intense battle.
I rememberer being 9 years old playing Pokémon Silver, and right when you get to this point, and it goes quiet, and Red says nothing, and then the music hits, I got goosebumps. Half of it cause of how intense it was actually fighting what was essentially myself in the first gen, but also half of it was cause honestly it creeped me the hell out. It almost seemed like, especially after you beat him and he disappears, that Red was a ghost. Either way though, this was an amazing ending to what was essentially a two part series of games (first gen being part one and second gen being part two) and if the Pokémon games had ended here, I would have been totally fine with it cause it was truly an incredible ending to an amazing series
How sick would it have been to have an option when you started Gold/Silver to upload your Red/Blue team, but you couldn’t use them “until the time was right”. So you go through the 8 gyms, Elite Four, the Kanto 8, you’ve beaten everyone you can possibly think of. But then, at the top of Mt Silver, standing before you is Red, not only the same trainer, but he has the same 6 you uploaded at the start of the game. And then once you’ve beaten him, you get your old team back to combine with your new one to become the ultimate trainer. How badass would that have been?
@@jupiterbrando Well, I'm pretty sure the Let's Go games is going to be a new set of remakes for each gen, if so, Let's Go's sequels might implement this idea. We know the hardware to do something like this is very possible now with games like Mass Effect and the Telltale series using data from past saved data to affect later games.
Yeet but you could just not even train your pokemo- Oh wait but i think you should get that option at the end of the game. Because you can just unlevel your pokemon and then beat Red easily.
Red was really Difficult to beat in my Crystal but lucky i beat him with Critical Hits lol FAV 6 Pokemon : Feraligator, Hondoom, Primeape, Crobat, Dragonite, Espeon
Mine was Jolteon Typhlosion Tyranitar Gardevoir Gallade And gyarados It was hard at first but lucky me I trained idk how many days I trained my pokemons but there well all lvl 70 and above and I beat red and I am the new champion
Blue Hunter You're bad. I beat him with a level 70 scyther and victreebell, and a level 55 dragonite. The fact you needed a tyranitar on your team when he is only catchable as the first form in mt silver, shows you were trash.
Blue Hunter actually, no. That wasn't even the original game, cuz you bad gard and gallade. You are even more trash. The remake is so much easier than the original

You managed to beat Red with an entire team of underleveled pokémon? Impressive...However, If there’s a lesson to be learned from this, well...as TFS Vegeta would put it: “POWER LEVELS ARE BULLSH*T!”
I remember this. I thought you'd receive a special item upon talking to him. I was not ready for a battle as I was training some of my weaker pokemon at Mt. Silver. I got SMOKED! Even with the team I used for the league I struggled against that damn Snorlax 😭
I swear one of the most nerve-wracking experiences in the old pokemon games was in end game battles like this one where even when you hit a pokemon with its weakness it's health just SLOWLY trickles down.... 😅
Being the kid I was, I really only trained like 2 or 3 Pokémon, and the rest were HM slaves. Seeing Red at the top of that mountain and talking to him was my biggest mistake.
Honestly gen 2 was the best Pokemon generation. Not only its 2 region 16 gym leaders in one game but the fact that you can fight the representation of your past self is great. I wished they pulled this off on Bw and Bw2 where somewhere in Unova you can fight who every your character back in Bw using memory link. seeing gen 2 is like the sequel of gen 1.
One of the best battles in my life, epicness over 9000. Mostly because I didn't know english at that time, so I never expected battling RED at the end, I just feel lucky to have such memories.

Let me rule out there differences:
DIFFERENCES:
1. Ash didnt win the first pokemon league like red did:
Red was 14 when he officially won the league, ash remained 10 throughout the whole tv show. Who knows if he will beat the Pokemon league someday?
2. Red is much more powerful than ash:
No, hes not. Hes just not.
3. Red doesnt travel with misty or brock:
This is because its a old video game, they didnt have the capability to add such elements. Also, to add on TV shows always need more characters, and the video game was more about the players journey than reds. Just because it didnt happen directly in pokemon red, doesnt mean it didn’t happen.
4. Ash traveled to almost all the different regions while red did not:
Everyone is just assuming that, clearly he went to unova, and aloha. Who knows where else hes been?
5. Red cant talk/chooses not too:
In pokemon johto/yellow when you battle red, he doesnt say anything. Why? Not cause he cant talk, because the scene is the final battle in the game and is meant to be cinematic and emotional, having no words is the best way to do that. In the newer games… id just say they picked up on that, i also heard that they wanted to get people who have never seen the anime something to remember; that he cant talk. Plus, red was 11 in those games, ash as a 10 year old still has LOTS of time to grow into the edgy person red is
7. Ash has zigzag cheeks, red does not:
Cmon, of course the full-on TV show will have more look details than the video games will. Especially with the first 8 bit ones. It’s just how things work.
Now let us rule out the similarities.
SIMILARITIES:
1. They both have the same pokemon
2. They both have the same mother
3. They both have the same rival (grandson of professor oak)
4. They both became champion at some point
5. They are both the original pokemon protagonists
6. They both live in the same house, in the same room
7. They both set off to become pokemon masters, with that being they’re primary goal
8. They are both the strongest pokemon trainers
9. They both look the same (aside from color differences in clothing)
10. They both traveled to the Unova and Alolan region
11. They both have variations of all the starter pokemon (they probably evolved over time)
12. They both have the same story arcs (read the manual to pokemon red/blue)
13. They where both referred to as ‘ash’ in the game manuals
Now let’s talk about why Pokemon differentiates these characters so often.
Look at super smash bros ultimate, they didn’t want to disappoint anyone so they named red/ash ‘Pokemon trainer’
CONCLUSION:
So, is red ash?

I played all pokemon games and gold/silver/crystal (2001-2002) were the best experience I had =)
Same here Gen 2 was my favorite gen of all time
Same here! The three legendary dogs, Ho-oh and Lugia, the shiny pokemons, god I miss childhood.
Same. For me is the best gen!
Agree, better than hearthgold and soulsilver.
Yea gen 2 is my favorite. Heartgold was my first pokemon game and ive recently started playing crystal on the 3ds

I just tried set mode and I was like: HOW COULD I PLAY ON SWITCH MODE ALL THIS TIME?

@@bartek8309 No. Ash and Red are different. Red is a pokemon master and Ash is a dumbass
The Most *EPIC* and *LEGENDARY* Fight Between Trainers in All Pokemon History.

Spoiled brat much?)
Due to such an annoyance, I was never able truly see the beauty of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation of Pokemon.

Dude I'm 40 and I only started playing pokemon 2 years ago. In completely obsessed with pokemon gold. 😎
Legendary fight between two legends
Yup!
Newer games health bar decreases faster because gen 4 happened
@@LicenciadoLoui they took one look at D/P/PL and got their shit together lol
I agree with this one. There’s something about watching your Pokémon’s health drop real slow that just puts you on the edge of your seat like “come on, don’t faint don’t faint”. I love it.
@@geoffreymesser2121 You unlocked a hidden memory/feeling I forgot I had 😮 the tension
“Holy Shit! It’s him! I was him!!!” - the realization when it was the guy you play as in the first generation. No clear mention him prior until the very end. And what an intense battle.
The greatest battle of my childhood. Will never forget it.
It would be ronic right? Since you started with Red your final battle would be against Red.
*sir, why are you not pitching this to Game Freak*
I'm actually pretty sure this exact thing was planned but it wasn't feasible
@@jupiterbrando Well, I'm pretty sure the Let's Go games is going to be a new set of remakes for each gen, if so, Let's Go's sequels might implement this idea. We know the hardware to do something like this is very possible now with games like Mass Effect and the Telltale series using data from past saved data to affect later games.
Yeet but you could just not even train your pokemo- Oh wait but i think you should get that option at the end of the game. Because you can just unlevel your pokemon and then beat Red easily.
Ultimate trainer? Sounds like some danganronpa shit
Game Freak really nailed it with this final battle. It was the perfect end for a masterpiece of a game. The last dance, on top of a mountain.

You managed to beat Red with an entire team of underleveled pokémon? Impressive...However, If there’s a lesson to be learned from this, well...as TFS Vegeta would put it:
“POWER LEVELS ARE BULLSH*T!”
