If I could re-make the forecast ability, Id make it that castform can automatically set up a weather as long as it holds a "weather totem" , a new holdable item only he can use that bypass other weather abilities as long as he is not facing a legendary, the downside being that itll be active only for five turns, having access to the classics sun, rain, hail but now introducing 3 new ones as well, being acid rain (poison weather that lowers defense for 5 turns) sand storm (ground weather that lowers accuracy) and brain storm (psychic weather that confuses the enemy)

A game I have a big warm spot for and have played ever version of it!

It's my favorite Pokemon, and it really sucks! In part because of its movepool and in part because of its stats, it's just not very usable in the vast majority of games. It's good to beat Misty's Starmie in Gen 1 and 3 for the STAB super effective Twineedle and that's basically it. In every other game, it either lacks those advantages, its movepool is too weak to make up for its low stats (because it doesn't matter how good your stats are for a level 10 when you have only one attacking move), or it *literally doesn't exist* (it would've been such a great option against, say, Gardenia) I'm cool with it not being great. But it's crazy how downright UNUSABLE it is. Not just bad, but dead weight or literally nonexistent. A lot of Pokemon are balanced around a playthrough of the game, not for competitive. But when a Pokemon balanced for level 15 fights isn't available until the post game, it just becomes...completely pointless. That's Beedrill. My hottest take here is that Twineedle deserves to be a MUCH better move than it is. It's the only move that can poison Steel-types because it's the only move that can poison that isn't a Poison-type move! That's cool as hell!

For me. Typhlosion (obviously) Umbreon (from Bill and also as a foil to Red's Espeon) Togetic/Togekiss (odd egg) Red Gyrados Sudowoodo Scizor (caught in the bug catching contest and also official art always shows scizor in his team) Later on we can add Hoh-Oh/Lugia/Suicune (in crystal) to his team and if its HGSS then Suicune likley joins later. In external lore it seems that Lance ends up catching the Red Gyrados so if we go with that scenario then it leaves an easy spot for the legendary. Tyrantar may also replace Sudowoodo later especially in HGSS Also Hitmontop could be a contender be it from the Karate master on mt mortar or from the Odd Egg in Crystal

pokemon 2000 is the GOAT of all pokemon movies!!!!! it was cinematic the story was compelling and had dat pokemon world building at a grander scale feeling and it felt like such a mission/adventure for ash and friends!!!

The team I made for gold/ethan was very similar with just a few differences, the team started with typhlosion, togetic, sudowoodo, unbreon, hitmontop, gyarados red observation the team was made based on crystal because in my opinion the third version of the game and the canon along with the remake

I think if we are staying in the oras time line we go with a starter castform keckleon the encounter poocheyena at the beginning wobbafett from the egg and the lati of the game

I love taking those early bug types to the end. I took a butterfree to the end in leaf green. Using beedrill in kalos currently. Love the big hornet so much. Its movepool does suck though. Taught mine venoshock though. I just like using the early bugs because bug is my favorite type and no one else gives thrm love.

Ethan should have Feraligatr, Houndoom, Tyranitar, Scizor is pretty iconic even today, Donphan and Ampharos. That is a pretty good Johto team but can swap Houndoom for a Typhlosion but all the Johto mains are covered. Scizor can be swapped for Skarmory but Skarmory suits Silver more than Ethan who would of probably caught a Scyther in the Bug Contest anyways. No Legendaries though and Togetic is kind of a meh Pokemon without it's evo or eviolite existing.

I loved this video! But I really missed a discussion on whether including Kenya the Fearow and the Fridays Lapras, both of which are related to new game mechanics (held mail and days of the week) and provide great balance to the team from early to mid game. To be sure, Lapras is even the default sprite for the surfing mode, and appears highlighted in the intro cutscene

My idea for castform is to have if it's holding a weather rock it summons that weather for 8 turns. Like if it had Drought, Rain Dance, or Snow Warning. Making it a diverse and unpredictable weather setter
