I can't believe I forgot about it because I remember when the song came out and I remember watching the video for it! I never did listen to that album though so I'm going to check it out real soon.. maybe we'll review it here too!

Christopher Ammot left arch enemy before Alissa first album with the band, Jeff Loomis former Sanctuary and Nevermore joined the band for this album, the blond guy is Jeff Loomis. Christopher ammot left because he has another band. also their bass player is the bass player from Mercyful fate

They had a couple guitarists since then, but now Jeff Loomis is the other guitarist next to Michael. Jeff Loomis used to be in Nevermore, and he did a side band with Keith Marrow called "Conquering Dystopia". He's just a phenomenal guitarist. The whole band has amazing talent.

Interesting things about this song/band. As many have noted. Angela didn't leave, she is their manager and picked Alyssa herself. The blond guitarist is Jeff Loomis, of Nevermore fame, considered to be maybe the most gifted young guitarist in metal today. (perhaps somewhat wasted here), he joined the band with this album. Lastly that riff you guys liked so much after the harmony solo (and it is a really cool riff) that runs until the whispered part is actually in a different tuning! Kind of a strange thing to do but if I had to guess, they probably came up with that riff and loved it so much they felt they had to keep it in despite the tuning difference. Its unfortunately not as good when played live since they play the whole song in C standard rather than having two guitars and switching. Not a terrible song by any means but far from their best. If you guys like the idea of a death/thrash album with a space vibe you definitely should check out Vektor.
Yeah when I went to learn this song and I got to that part I was like wtf this an open b note not an open c lol but it serves the purpose very well, also vektor is incredible, tetrastrucrual minds!!!
Just to clear this up: Angela did not really "leave" the band, she just stepped back from singing and touring because she needed more time for her family. She still is the manager of the band, and also contacted Alissa to offer her the job in the band. Nice video :)
Really hope some of the new songs use Alissa's clean vocals well because she can sing really well too. The contrast between the two would work really well
There were some very brief background cleans in the track Avalanche on their last album so it isn't impossible though unlikely. There was also the whipsered clean section here Just seems her talents are only being half used, it's like having Jeff Loomis come over and saying "yeah plays some cool riffs, but erm leave the solos" Just one song that is all I hope for
Arch EnemInfo: "Wages Of Sin" was the first Metal album that Alissa ever bought and listened to, something she did at the behest of one of her mates in the band that would become The Agonist when she was a teen. They wanted her to scream, but she neither knew how to do that nor had she previously listened to any bands with harsh vocals. However, she was completely blown away by the fact that the vocals on "Wages" were coming from a woman and the savagery of Angela's performance inspired Alissa to become a growler herself. I'm sure she never imagined in her wildest dreams that she'd find herself fronting her favourite metal band of all time and when I saw them in Toronto in November w/ Trivium, the energy and dynamism of her stage presence told me that she's lapping up every bit of the dream she's currently living out. It's amazing!

This was 2014 and that same year they published a full album with Alissa. And they have been touring a lot for the past 3 years. Anyway I am happy you liked it. Is one of my favorite bands.

Nice reaction. As for the guitarists... Michael Ammott and the old guitarist, Chris, are brothers. Chris quit to do his own project. Nick Nolte took over from Arsis. After he didn't work out after War Eternal Jeff Loomis took over and this album is much better. Nick was too... Not right for the band's sound. Michael is basically the composer of the band. Angela Gassow quit lead vocals to progress into the band's manager which she currently is. It took her a long time to find heart replacement, but Alyssa took the role with a vengeance. I miss Angela though. Her vocals can never be matched. The last concert as a band with Chris and Angela in Denver I was at and started the mosh at the Summit. They are finding their new sound and for the first time a band is switching people do I appreciate their new sound. Rock on, dudes. If you lived in Colorado I'd invite both of you for a beer and a bowl. This is the first video I have seen of you, but it won't be the last. I'm not trying to school you on some of their history, but just thought I could help you understand what's up there.

First album was fucking brutal. Second album was but you could tell they were beginning to go towards mainstream. third album made it entirely evident that they had become hot-topic friendly
