Yes, was the co-founder. Rest in Peace Warrel Dane :(. I think the 2 should do a reaction to Nevermore as well! They may be surprised at Warrel's "vocals". Van Williams is a MACHINE on the drums, and imo Loomis is even better with Nevermore because he was the main composer.
Heard many people try to place Arch Enemy before... Never heard anyone call them power metal though xD They're listed under Melodic Death Metal, just for references, which should come as no surprised from a Scandenavian band :P Whatever genre we do it we add "Melodic" to it 95% of the time
If you want some really good Arch Enemy, look up some of their older stuff with their old singer, I recommend the song "Nemesis", or the song "Under The Black Flag" Also, Current lead singer is Alissa White-Gluz, former lead singer of The Agonist, Arch Enemy's old singer was named Angela Gossow (If you were curious). And on their newest album, the same album this song is off of, they do have a song with clean vocals. The song "Reason To Believe" has some cleans in it and a good message in it.
Keep in mind Arch Enemy formed in 1995 (1st release in 1996 and categorized as a "Melo-Death Metal" band) and started with a Male vocalist Johan Liiva (which is the era I most enjoy because they were MUCH heavier). And then in 2000 Angela Gossow became the vocalist, and in Alissa White-Gluz joined in 2014 (suggested by Angela). She came from the her own band "The Agonist" where she sang both clean and cookie monster vocals. I don't listen to the newer stuff as much but the album "Anthems of Rebellion" feature clean vocals on 2 songs (sung by the brother of Guitarist Michael Amott, the co-founder of the band). But checkout all 3 eras, I'm sure you'll find something you like. Btw - Arch Enemy were always known for their "melody driven" hooks (either neo-classical or _familiar_ melodies), while playing super heavy riffing above or underneath it, which made them unique. Which is probably why you may think they sound like a Powermetal band (Powermetal never uses a "Death Metal" style for its main vocals, but occasionally for fills/accents to a song ;).
No one else will suggest this, but for a different female fronted band, check out Azusa. The band is made up of the bassist from Dillinger Escape Plan and the drummer and guitarist from Extol. This band is an exercise in contrasts. @
Canadian female-fronted metal bands are being well represented here! :) Alissa White from Arch Enemy is from Montreal (East Coast) Britney Slays (Hayes) from Unleash the Archers is from Victoria (West Coast) Thumbs up from me :)
War Eternal, First Day In Hell, Dreams of Retribution are some of their best with the current singer. Nemesis is best with their old singer. The only Arch Enemy song that this singer does cleans on is Reason to Believe, but she mixed in lots of cleans with her old band The Agonist. She has also featured with growls and cleans in songs like Liar Liar by Kamelot
Your Chance To Die is one of the heaviest female-fronted metal bands I’ve heard. Check out the song Ignite the Sky. Their vocalist was already pretty intense but not only did she take it up a notch on their latest album, they also added Som from Cerebral Bore and it’s nuts. Two female death metal vocalists. As for Arch Enemy, I feel like Wages of Sin was their best album by a decent measure. The song Enemy Within opens the album and it’s still my favorite Arch Enemy song.
Yeah! Your Chance is NUTS! However...... have you heard of or heard VENOM PRISON? Their frontwoman Larissa Stupar looks a bit a like Maisie Williams and sounds like how I imagine Arya Stark would sound if she lost her humanity as a result of spending too long being Warged into Nymeria. JUST SO FERAL!!!!!!!
if you liked that guitar shredding you should check out blond guy loomis from arch in his previus bend nevermore he shreds the shit out of you also he is one of the first 7 string players you will not be dissapointed
They have done one song with clean vocals and its called Reason to Belive. You should defently react to some older songs with them 🙂 Nemesis, Bloodstained Cross and Blood on your hands for example. AE have very talented band members yeah. If you want more awesome solos, react to Nemesis. The solos are short but very good ones in the song.
A great female-fronted band from Japan I would recommend because of the solos is Lovebites with the song Shadowmaker. (The rest of the song is great as well!)
to hear the real Allissa you should listen to The Agonist - Ideomotor / Tarja - Demons in you / Kamelot - Liar, Liar, if you want to hear her top range The Agonist - Swan Lake for me the established Arch Enemy style supresses her skill
If you haven't already you need to check out Room To Breathe and Lighthouse by Imminence. They have the similar Architects vibe that Paralyzed has and I know how much you loved that song. You won't be disappointed ;)
Well, while they are categorized as melodic death metal, if you had clean vocals on this track instead, it would be considered power metal. There's a ton of similarities musically with the power metal genre in this song, coming from a fan of both genres.
toutes ces Femmes qui chantent ce style de musique, gothique je crois,je les trouve belles et sexy ou je me trompe? j'aime cette musique car si on écoute bien les paroles c'est très deep.
to me she's the most talantet singer I know, but this is by far not their best song, still good, but you should check out Avalanch, Down to nothing(heavy!), or some older stuff, like no gods, no masters and the must haves: nemesis(don't know anything to describe it, well to soft at the chorus, but that's a general arch enemy thing) and the eagle flies alone, not my favorite, but a very unique song that is still like to listen, very epic and well produced, just not that heavie and üpowefull I like, but if you want a song that's great with the first time listening and you can get it instantly, perfect, opposite to the race, I love that song, but the first 100 times at least, I didn't found something special(when I was listen to the whole album, should have listen it as one single song earlier.
Lovely reaction, The original singer of arch enemy was Angela Gossow. The actual singer is Alissa White-Gluz one of the best female screamer that sings also for the band Agonist . For her clean vocals check out REASON TO BELIEVE by Arch Enemy and for other great stuff by them i suggest you NEMESIS live at Wacken 2016 .
. . . and, actually the "original" vocalist for their 1st 3 albums was Male, Johan Liiva. Checkout that era, much more HEAVIER and still had those unique melody hooks. Also Arch Enemy's founder (and was also in Carcass for 2 albums, 1 ep) "Michael Amott" does a side band with Johan called "Black Earth" (named after the 1st AE album): th-cam.com/video/V0eUgUfPsm4/w-d-xo.html .
Since Arch Enemy helped to FOUND the entire movement (just check out how LONG they have been around), then it will of course sound generic. Everybody else that tries to sound like them doesn't quite get there or they sound much like them, with some twist or other. They are Formulaic. Boring for you? You have not been paying attention.
@@summonliiva5673 That's part of my point. If they had the same sound now, which is formulaic, I could see why some people think they are boring, but since they HAVE changed at least because their vocalists have changed a couple of times, they are not the same. I don't see how this could be boring. But, I only found them about the time Alyssa joined them. War Eternal was my first Arch Enemy song, and I went backward from there to see what they were like before that. I still don't know EVERYTHING they have done, but I respect them greatly! Maybe this is too 'mainstream' of them for some people? Oh, well. Opinions vary. :)
ARCH ENEMY - Nemesis (Live 2008 Japan)
You've gotta see Angela Gossow live!
The first AE-song i heard was Ravenous... And i really thought it was a man that sang...
what is the song in the back ground ty
Alissa White-Gluz is the greatest stage presence in music today! Nobody is a close second. Love your reactions and analysis!
You need to check out the new The Agonist: In Vertigo. Absolutely brutal track.
what is the song in the back ground ty
You should check out The Agonist “In vertigo”
Great song! Jeff Loomis is the lead guitarist. He used to be in Nevermore I think?
Yes, was the co-founder. Rest in Peace Warrel Dane :(. I think the 2 should do a reaction to Nevermore as well! They may be surprised at Warrel's "vocals". Van Williams is a MACHINE on the drums, and imo Loomis is even better with Nevermore because he was the main composer.
Jeff isnt the lead, he shares the lead with Micheal Amott
Band: Briarcliff
Track: Ruin Of Morality [Ft. Dan Konstantinou - Ex- I Exalt]
Arch Enemy "Reason to believe" has clean vocals. She has a beautiful voice.
Heard many people try to place Arch Enemy before... Never heard anyone call them power metal though xD

ALL of their songs have messages in them, mostly about overthrowing the current governments in favor of something better, more freedom.

Liiva era was definitely the best. I'm glad they reunited but under the name of Black Earth.

Singer from Sea+Air, too.
Yes. Should have mentioned that, but I figured that's not on most people's radar.

Thank you for saying it! I looked for this comment and if I had not found it, I would have finally written something similar. :)
I don't know if you figured out the actress, but I believe you meant Kate Beckinsale. Lead actress of the Underworld.

Check out her previous band The agonist.. she can really sing also
Decapitated- Earth Scar
Melodic deathmetal
exactly, doesn't really have something to do with power metal, IMHO
Well, while they are categorized as melodic death metal, if you had clean vocals on this track instead, it would be considered power metal. There's a ton of similarities musically with the power metal genre in this song, coming from a fan of both genres.
Nothing to do with death metal.
If you want her cleans you should check THE AGONIST - Panophobia
Agonist is her previous band where she used to mix up her growl and clean vocals
Do EPICA now 🙌🏼❤️

Not even close to the best female screamer. And she was kicked out from The Agonist like 5-6 years ago.
