Running an open air cylinder head shop is almost as much fun as lying on your back in the dirt and gravel with junk falling in your eyes, fluids leaking onto you and trying to do something nearly impossible.
Gonna need a half dozen of those calendars! Xmas shopping done!

It's so funny Miles and Keith making trick flow heads. A little porting didn't hurt anybody.Scott, great job on both engines on valve the jobs😊😊😊
It looked like Miles was dying to CC the combustion chambers so he could equal them all out. A three angle valve job also helps to smooth out the turbulence on the intake to maximize airflow.

Good progress on the Rover- & your absolutely right, can't have waves in it after all this time, might lead to a flogging from Laura.

HELL YEAH A CALENDAR!!! Between the yard & the agents corals, you got enough for 2 years of 'Beauties and Beaters' editions! Laura's Rover for 2025 plus whatever gets worked over by the crew from now to this time the next year. Great idea!
I think the photos in the CWM calendar will be something to enjoy for years.

I remember my dad used to refer to Studebakers as “steady breakers”. Eager to see the conclusion of V8 challenge. Dean will probably drink a can of V8 juice and think he won.
Scott, you're going to have to handicap the race between the Studebaker and the Vicky. Maybe let the air out of one of the Studebaker's tires. I want a calendar, you have to include some of the important holidays, like Franker's birthday, national donut day, national lefthanders day, and Red Green's birthday.
Remember, the Stude is an automatic. We saw what the bush party did to the engine, how about the tranny?😟

Sitting in my van smoking a joint and drinking beers with Coldwar motors is the best part of my Saturday night. Good job on getting the old flathead to crank on the key. Looks like that team Studebaker is back in the running now too. Myles New Port sounds pretty stout. I bet it could hold it own against some of the tamer modern muscle cars roaming the streets. Probably should clean out the sump and pickup out on that flathead. Likely as much greasy misery in there as the valley had. It’s all coming along nicely though. Shame they are both rust buckets as I get enthusiastic as dean on them.
Great Show ! I don’t doubt Ash will get the Vicky running , I’m still with team Studebaker. With Myles on the team I have a lot of faith. The new driveway and ramp is a big improvement . Should be paved .

I would be interested in a CWM calendar - that's a great idea. Congrats to both V8 teams for their determination and laser-like focus, avoiding mission creep. There's no need to polish and port the heads just to get them running, and so far, it looks like they are going back together with the con rod bearings and crank bearings and seals and clutches, etc - but I guess that could change. And Justin's impersonation of Tom was laugh-out-loud funny stuff.

Greetings Scott, Agents and everyone. I've done a lot of valve jobs, but never outside. Excellent. I love the flatty, but money is on the Studie. Make Jonathan proud. I've been working a little. 2003 Chevy avalanche. Electrical. 74 small mini fuses, 6 big fuses, 8 small relays, 5 big relays, 2 circuit breakers. Draw on battery. 18 wires out of ignition switch. Headbanging nightmare.😂😂😂😂✌️

CWM calendar, great idea, did you know that studebaker was one of the few engine manufacturers that fully seasoned their blocks for 6 months to a year, resulting in extremely accurately machining of their blocks. ( freshly cast iron moves around for months after being cast), seasoned cast iron is typically used for the manufacture of machine tools, i.e. (mills and lathes)
This episode certainly was worth the price of admission
Not only that. Frankers the Broadway Show critic says "Cold War Motors is better than Cats"
This was a great welcome home from a camping trip. Now I can spend my Sunday getting finished what I left undone, now if I can just find that bolt.
The Studie V-8 s are awesome.....Went to the Studebaker National Museum in South Bend, Indiana yesterday....great fun....Back in Omaha, Nebraska today....
Like Al’s Grenada, the Vicky’s starter motor has been turned into a thing of beauty. CWM’s ‘head shop’ teams did a admirable job on both of those neglected mills, restoring each to their production tolerances and readied for maximum performance! You all do good work and have a ball doing so, all while extinguishing a 15-pack which helps ‘lubrication.’
I like that bench mounted valve face grinding machine!
Put a rod in the drill and connect it to the valve with silicon rubber tubing. Saves marring the valve stem with the drill chuck. That's how I lap my valves in.
Yard work FINALLY finished (started at 8am Eastern time).. it's now CWM TIME!!! HOOORRAAYYY!!!!
I love the cardboard over the gravel. I've done that since my misspent youth. That way, you can work in comfort.
My deepest sympathy to Dean on his recent separation from Sophie. Being married to a celebrity is never easy. The Granada is almost at Pebble Beach quality level. Soon it will require trailering. I will absolutely be purchasing a CWM calendar.

When you guys put that Vicky's engine together I virtually guarantee it will run. You might even have halfway decent compression. I think you might be a bit ahead of the Stude boys at this point.

Great work on the V8 Showdown! It will also be nice to see the Rover in Colour! I got my 1940 Plymouth Roadking from out west, along with a 1966 AMC Marlin. That being said everywhere I read the P11 Roadking name was supposed to be dropped for the 1941 model year, non the less a very cool 4 door sedan. Cheers to another great week and working to get a 287 AMC V8 freed up on my past. CWM best TH-cam channel going.😊

I think you're going to have to weld some structural support in both of these two so that those hot motors won't twist 'em all up.
I love the valve lapping tool. I've only ever done the suction cup method so seeing that is like witch craft, haha. Removing flashing is just fixing factory casting mistakes so it's fine by me. Dodge blocks are probably the worst offenders. Even a 1940's International engines aren't as bad, and those are very agricultural. I can' wait to see more. I wonder which one will fire off first?
