  • I've had my KLX250S long enough now that I think I can give a fair review of it. In this video I cover the engine, fuel consumption, suspension, things I don't like and things I like.

    My first real offroad bike besides big ADV was an 18 KLX250 in that blacked out camo. Hands down was my favorite bike ever. Affordable, best looking, super smooth throttle/controls, great suspension. With zero experience i took that thing places i wouldnt take my enduro bikes now. 13t sprocket was the best mod for dual sport, FMF, airbox off, EJK was expensive but did give u more low end. Knowing what I know now, 13/42t was too high i should have went with a 45t aluminum rear and Mx chain and that bike would be great. I might actually buy another one and sell my enduro bike cuz it was so fun to explore backroads, desert, then single track

    Thanks this my kind of video. Would a smart carb or some kind of carb swap make it more snappy. I am wondering how often the new klx 300 will need valve jobs or a new top end? Thanks for showing us your bike. It is pretty awesome.

      @onthebackwheel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I just saw the edited questions. You can change the jetting to make it a little more snappy, but I wouldn't bother changing the carb. If you're getting that that point, you might as well spend the money on something with some more power. Top ends you pretty much never have to do on KLX250/300's, people are getting 100,000kms (60000 miles) out of a top end. Valves, I'd double check but from memory it was every 12000kms (7500 miles)

      I'm not sure which country you are in (Australia has a lot of dual sports), but none of the small displacements are what I'd call torquey. With mods (exhaust, opened airbox, shorter gearing and tune) the KLX250S can be punchy, but you might have to step up to the to the DRZ400 for more torque
