I'll be honest, it was Dawn of War that convinced me to start playing 40k. The voice acting helped a lot. This was awesome but so was Davian Thule. Tbh the whole series was pure magic from start to finish.
I think it was what got me really hooked on 40k lore. Never played the tabletop (not having friends even interested in D&D et al, much less something heavier like 40k). But the setting, it's… so wonderfully over the top, you just gotta love it. Now excuse me, gotta spill some blood for the blood god, and gather some skulls for the skull throne. ;-)

"What would YOU have me do?" Especially knowing his back story, it always felt like a challenge. Not in a butthurt, insecure way. But looking me in the eye, man to man, daring me to command.
Honestly, Gabriel Angelos had the best voice in the Warhammer video game series. He is a badass with voice lines that are honestly better than some games today. If dawn of war gets a remaster, get the original cast together. I want to see this series and this game in particular last until the 41st millennium.
Ha I just realized "Walk softly and carry a big gun" is most likely a variation of "speak softly and carry a big stick" or was that "Walk softly and carry a big stick" - Theodore Roosevelt. Lol just heard his quote on tv earlier; so I immediately thought of this :)
This is what I use as a pick-up quote on a Friday night in town: Walk up to a chick - whip it out - shout into her head: 'DO NOT BE DAUNTED BY ITS SIZE!'
My fav quote from him is when he is talking about the Imperial Guard sacrificing themselves to protect civilians from Orks They are truly warriors worthy of the Emperor or it was something like that lol
This games voice work was very well done. The Dawn of War games were really good. Its a shame Relic went under otherwise a third Dawn of War is seriously past due for development.
I started to get to know about the Warhammer 40k universe thru Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels (1995), although the lore was not so detailed and was quite minimal. However it was Dawn of War that truly got me into Warhammer 40k universe and lore. The hobby wargame might be a bit expensive for me, but I kinda like reading the novels.
This is the guy who got me into Dawn of War and Warhammer 40,000. The voice-acting was so epic back in vanilla DoW. Back then I didn't know one thing about 40k and though I don't play the actual tabletop-game WH40k has become my favorite sci-fi setting. "He who stands with me shall be my brother." Angelos is da man!! Here's hoping that DoW 3 will kick ass
In faith, purity. In war, certainty. In death, service. Service to the Emperor carries only one absolute. Fury. Fury toward the alien, the mutant, the heretic.
