I am starting to do a few small fixes to the Convertible WS6 Trans Am. When I bought this thing I knew it needed some love and honestly, I really enjoy fixing little things and completely transforming all of my cars. The first week I had this car I ordered a replacement top and had my upholstery guy put it on. I love the look of the tan so decided to stick with that color. Just that made a huge improvement but we still have several things to do. In this video the power antenna mast was broken so I show you the process of replacing it. I will say I have never done this but it seemed like it would be cheaper than replacing the entire power antenna. If you take your time and keep track of all your parts, its not bad. I was kind of surprised it worked. If you are looking for a replacement or power antenna fix for your Trans Am or firebird, this is the process to replace.

Thanks so much for the video!! The new trans am looks nice. The tan convertible top will definitely turn heads because it's different! I am glad you addressed this issue, I had the same issue. I replaced three antennas within 6 months. I kept burning up motors. I ended up replacing it with a massless antenna that you could stick in the window. Only cost me about 39 bucks, because I didn't want to get a cheap one. And I've been great ever since. I just left the old antenna in its place (down of course) and nobody will ever know the difference. So I'll never have to worry about antenna motor or the shaft ever again!!

Travis, thank you so much for the awesome video. Very informative and great quality. I was able to fix my 2001 T/A with ease. In case you were wondering, I purchased ACDelco 10256439 because it is the exact part from GM. It is a perfect match minus being stainless steel colored and not black like the original from the factory. It does seat completely flush when retracted. I was going to purchase the one you bought, but was hesitant after seeing your video. The ACDelco is about $14.00 more on Amazon. Thanks again for the amazing video. I really enjoy your channel and greatly appreciate you.

Finally glad there's now a good video of someone getting into these things, I have replaced 2 masts within the 13 years I've driven my TA, 1 time I was able to just insert the mast and it goes into place correctly and retracts normal. This last time im 90 percent sure there is a piece of mast broken off inside because the new mast doesn't entirely fit inside, I just wasn't entirely to sure how to approach it. But thanks for the informative vid! love the new shop and new bird. Been following since you had the red birds modification vids from your garage.

    Hey Travis,
I’ve noticed that you’ve tried fixing the wheel slop on the OBS with no success which includes replacing the gearbox, rag joint, and a jeep steering shaft which that is a good thing but you’re missing one important piece in the puzzle. You have not replaced the lower steering column bearing and I noticed that on one of your videos when you were moving the steering shaft it had a lot play.
