I've always been a console gamer as well, until last year. I didn't think that I cared about high frame rates or even a high resolution for the longest time, until I built my first gaming PC and chucked a 3070 in there, and connected it to my LG nano 85 with 4k 120hz, and then after that a 1440p 165hz monitor. I have to say, my eyes have been opened.... Now I absolutely love high frame rates at higher resolutions, and it's kind of hard to go back to just 60 frames a second sometimes, or even 30 on the switch in some games. Everything just looks and feels.... BETTER at high refresh rates and high resolutions. Now I understand why people have loved PC so vehemently over the years, and esp now with the RTX 30 series. I still adore my switch, but I LOVE my PC.
I just bought mine two weeks ago, and just NOW came across this video. I'm so happy with my monitor, switching between series X and PS5 is awesome. The picture and sound are unbeatable, and I too like to play on a gaming desk. So I understand wanting to play while sitting down on a secret lab chair. Lol. I just wish it had a third HDMI port so I can connect my switch dock to it when I don't feel like playing in handheld mode. But still a great buy for a great price
It's pretty incredible that these monitors essentially replaced the usb switcher that you had for your M1 and PC (in the November 2021 M1 Max setup video). Definitely part of the dream setup. I have just used switchers for my monitors and they get the job done but aren't perfect. Also setup my desk to have two mice/keyboards, which has been surprisingly easy, but definitely takes up room.
@@visiblehiggs130 I haven't. I believe with the M1, you are limited with what it can do it. Since it only has so many buses for USB C/TB4, I seem to remember it only being able to drive a couple of 4K monitors, but can't remember exactly. The Apple website would probably help.
I won one of them from Gigabyte back in January and liked it so much I bought a 2nd one in the summer. It's not perfect of course, backlight bleed could be better (like most IPS monitors) but color is great and overall it's amazing for the price I paid like $275 USD for the 2nd one on sale so really can't complain. It's one of the cheapest 1440p 170hz I've seen in retail around here (in Canada)

These look like really sick monitors! If my living situation could accommodate an actual desk setup for my computer, I'd probably go for this monitor. But. For now, I'm happy with my upgrade to an LG OLED C1, I've got my PC, Switch, and PS5 running through it, and in the short time I've had this display, it's been fantastic getting 4K 120 out of my PC instead of having been locked at 60Hz.
i think its worth noting they only have a bandwidth on the hdmi 2.1 port of ~24 GB/s which limits the chroma subsampling to 4:2:0. REAL hdmi ports have a bandwidth over 48 GB/s and should do proper 4:4:4 chroma subsampling. This may or may not be noticable depending on the eyes that are watching. (this basically means image compression)
@@denisruskin348 Only in text? Like text is not a thing games, right? Dude, 4:2:0 is dog's poop and has nothing to do with motion. You have to be blind to claim it's not visible in regular use.
I like the line about 2 monitors being excessive. I usually run 2 monitors also, but that's per system. My home PC (both 27") and my work laptop (both 24"). And when my work laptop isn't on, I re-purpose one of it's screens as a third monitor for my home PC setup. Then, off to the left of my 4 screen setup, I also have a 27" 1440p 144Hz Asus curved monitor that I run my Series X, Nintendo Switch and PS Vita TV through. So yeah, my home office has 5 monitors in there. And my DJ rig with a separate laptop for that too, so I guess 6 screens total in my little office, ha ha. I'd say that is probably excessive.
Are curved monitors good for next gen consoles? I heard that it won’t fully display on the screen. You would have like the sides blacked out. Looking like it would cut the images short
I play on a 65' TV that's got HDMI 2.1 but I sit in a Lazy Boy instead of my couch, I don't really like couches anyway and always prefer to sit in an actual chair. I've tried gaming and office chairs but none are as comfortable as a dedicated living room chair for longer sessions. That way you can use a large TV but don't have to sit back like you do on a couch as they can rock foward and still provide back support. I also have mine on a lower to the floor entertainment center so the TV is at eye level, I hate having to look up when gaming. Having such a large screen means you don't have to sit as close as a monitor which can cause eye strain during long sessions as well. I sit about 5ish feet away from the screen. I don't live in NYC though so I have the privilege of having a lot of room to work with.

I use standard color mode, black equalizer at 10, and Off or Balance for overdrive (can’t really see a difference with the naked eye on those two), Local Dimming mode off, and that’s about it. This monitor has HDR, but not really, so stick with SDR, and you’ll be totally content.
You might be able to get 144hz on both monitors by using two different ports on the mac for each monitor. Each port has its own 40gps lane, which you need for each monitor.
This is EXACTLY what I'm looking for! Just got my Series X so I was looking to upgrade my TV to support all the new fancy bells and whistles. Definitely going to grab it when I can.
This is great, make one with TV's too for the living room, thats where most people probably play console. The biggest reason except the console shortage that i have not bought a ps5 or xbox series x is that i need a tv that can handle it, imo, whats the point of buying a new console when you cant even use its potential, the picture wont be better unless i also buy a new tv that can handle the specs.
Got this monitor next to my LG 27UK600 , that's the only monitor in 32" you can have as the best 4K monitor for consoles ( i prefer the LG calibration its easier) and with ALLM, VRR and 144 hZ ( for 120FPS).
9:22 Yep, I also only hear console audio through my streaming software. It's the best solution I have at the moment. This monitor is very exciting though 👀 EDIT: For $800 though, it's going to have to be a future upgrade. I really, really want a two-monitor setup...
Currently running the EVE spectrum 4k 120hz hdmi 2.1 with a Xbox series x pretty solid monitor, although it took months and months to get it I'd say it's worth it especially for FPS games.
Last comment I swear, I forgot there's a 28inch version! My office is small and so is my desk. I'm okay with 4 inches less. 😉 The M28U-SA is $650 and it looks like it has all the same features, just smaller and cheaper. Just can't find any in stock atm. I'm trying.
I wonder how this monitor compares to the ASUS 28UQL1A. I would love to see a comparison of HDR and overall quality/features. I know this monitor is slightly bigger but if anyone has any insight would love to hear it.
Just got my ASUS TUF 28U and have been messing around with HDR settings on my Xbox Series X. I've never had an HDR display (tho its HDR40 which apparently is the bare minimum) and its definitely a noticeable difference from my 1440p non-HDR display. From what I've seen with people's videos the Gigabyte has more display settings to mess around with. The ASUS has a lot of different "modes" that fine-tune video adjustments depending on what type of game you're playing. I mainly play Destiny 2 which is a FPS so I have it set to "FPS Mode". I'm still figuring out the best settings for HDR. It's a brighter monitor than my last one so I actually find it very bright when gaming at night (I sit 2-3 feet away). When HDR is enabled it doesn't let me adjust the brightness settings or anything like that on the monitor, so I have to adjust my brightness in-game. I found that weird but I assume that's just how it has to work to get the best HDR visual looks. I managed to turn off HDR at one point and lowered the brightness on the monitor to 50 which I kind of prefer. I also turned off all of the auto-dimming and auto-adjust settings too, they were creating weird blobs in-game. I'm sure I'll mess with them more but for now they're off. Overall I don't think I'd switch to the Gigabyte, but I also wouldn't say the HDR on the ASUS is a game-changer either. The both cost the same on Amazon I think (I got a Renewed ASUS for even cheaper which luckily didn't have any issues). The ASUS doesn't have that KVM mode to my knowledge, so if you like that I'd get the Gigabyte. Update: I had to turn the HDR off because something HDR related in Destiny kept making the monitor go black for a second. I think the monitor switched HDR off then back on for a second but it happened twice in 30 minutes which got me killed in-game so that was that.
@@Dubitz thanks for the insight on that! I’ve been still doing research and I’m leaning towards the new MSI optix. It’s a little more pricey but seems worth it in my opinion
It's the first time I'm actually seeing on of your videos man. I subscribed immediately when I saw your setup and I love the detailed explanation of the kvm feature. I watched ton of videos and no one was able to explain this as comprehensible as you did. I really cant afford those monitors though so I'm looking into getting the M27Q ones that they make.. Excellent Video
I have an Alienware monitor and you can set up the buttons to be hot keys to switch between the inputs directly. It is amazingly useful for multiple devices.
I want a 4k monitor for a long time but I'm fine with my 1080p monitors. Getting a chair is my priority right now. I will eventually buy a 4k monitor but I want them tp lower the price just a bit in a couple of months or years.
my donkey kong background would look great on these. gonna go over to your desk setup video on your personal channel to hopefully figure out what risers you're using under your monitors.
I really like the video and the monitors of course. I used to work with a dedicated KVM switch back at my last job, they were a nightmare to set up and very expensive. These monitors are very interesting as a first monitor for my son as he doesn't have much space. A bit pricey but i guess they'll drop in price in the next few months.
I have the Gigabyte M32UC. Do you have HDR on or off? Im just wondering since this is HDR 400. I use SDR at the moment but people are so divided about this. What do you recommend? I mainly use the monitor for PS5. Thanks!
The algorithm seems to work! Never watched any of your vids before, but happened to be in the market for a monitor, and this popped up. Love that non-"techie" content creators are discovering the need for and application of KVM switches. Perhaps, this will drive more adoption across monitors. Currently swimming in a sea of cables and i would very much like for that to change. For this lovely video, I humbly submit one sub.
that is a slick setup, definitely gonna save and get these monitors, I am using an old Acer monitor and an old tv for streaming and work LOL, really need the upgrade.
Some other TH-cam has mentioned that these monitors aren't true 4k 120hz monitors. something about the xbox runs at compressed bandwidth mood in order to push out the signals for 4k 120hz
I have a Dell S2721DGF 27" IPS 1440p 165hz monitor. I love it a lot. It even has HDR, although only HDR400, which for the $450 price point I wish it was better, but Windows 11's Auto-HDR feature definitely takes advantage of the HDR capability and makes all my games look better than they did in Windows 10. But the monitor itself is amazing. Has G-sync and everything as well. It's perfect for me and my use cases, which is just gaming on my PC and switch (using the mClassic to upscale the switch i.age to 1440p, which makes it look better imo) and content consumption. However I have a PS5 but because the PS5 doesn't support 1440p, I have it hooked up to my LG nano 85 49" TV which does have HDMI 2.1 and HDR10 😊
Oh yeah good monitor I also have it. Was using for xbox x and ps5. But now moved to work Station and upgrading to 4k for co Console gaming however I just got a m32u and wonder did I make the right choice especially over like the samsung g70a 28 inch 4k. Or just a 4k 60hz with hdr10 lol hmm I'm still in return period 🤔 eh probably just keep it.
HDMI 2.1 but only 24hz I have a Samsung tv which is similar but the one issue it does have is it does not support 4k 120fps AND Dolby Atmos at the same time due to this limitation. However as it is for my office, I am thinking about buying this.. Shame it does not have the full 48ghz support for future-proofing... But something people should be aware of
My biggest thing is the hdr isn’t supposed to be very good. I’m worried about this for warzone as characters can look very shadowy and dark with a budget monitor Ive currently got and that’s what I want to change the most. I’d get the c1 but it’s just to big
The issue with this monitor is more an issue with the ps5, but you can't avoid it. The limit on the HDMI 2.1 bandwidth means you get a lesser experience with the ps5. If some chroma subsampling doesn't bother you (or like me struggle to even tell) that's fine, but it's something to note. It's only an issue at 120fps.

Did I understand a word of what you were saying? No. Did I watch the whole video anyway? Yes.
After seeing this review on this monitor you had me sold! Expect delivery tomorrow 🙌🏽
"I don't have a lot of room, I like having my personal space"
Same.
Quality of your videos are amazing man keep it up 👍🏼
Oh my! Built in KVM is a nice touch with those of us now working from home. Can keep my work laptop running and switch.
Great video. But i do enjoy your skits for the sponsors. Those skits are one of the highlights of your videos.
I like Bob's videos, they're neat.
I listen to all of my game audio through OBS 👀 Now I’m very curious where you might be getting audio latency through it 😂 Loved the video Bob!
Last comment I swear, I forgot there's a 28inch version! My office is small and so is my desk. I'm okay with 4 inches less. 😉
The M28U-SA is $650 and it looks like it has all the same features, just smaller and cheaper. Just can't find any in stock atm. I'm trying.
Finally a monitor that will run these new consoles at FULL POWER !!!
I’m just impressed with the crisp 480p pixels on the butt :D
I need this monitor in my life! I just got a PS5 and have a nice Ultrawide gaming monitor that my PS can't get full advantage of.
I get that we cant see 120 hz...but maybe shoot at 60 fps next time?
Ah man, I forget you were still alive, niiice!
That KVM feature is pretty darn snazzy!
I have an Alienware monitor and you can set up the buttons to be hot keys to switch between the inputs directly. It is amazingly useful for multiple devices.
Dude an integrated kvm switch right into the monitors?! That’s a dream come true holy shiitttt
Dude they look so nice 😍 I know what I want for Christmas 🎄
I want a 4k monitor for a long time but I'm fine with my 1080p monitors. Getting a chair is my priority right now. I will eventually buy a 4k monitor but I want them tp lower the price just a bit in a couple of months or years.
4K is overrated trash, the best you can get is 1440p and 144hz. 4K doesn't do shit on a 27" monitor, only for 55"+ TVs.
Monitors look awesome! I’ll have to look into these in the future.
Dude that song from the intro is 🔥🔥🔥🔥 what is the name?
Sold.... thanks for the video. I was looking for a monitor for both ps5 and computer I think I found her
my donkey kong background would look great on these. gonna go over to your desk setup video on your personal channel to hopefully figure out what risers you're using under your monitors.
Dope. I was just gunna cop this monitor and this solidifies it for me
I really like the video and the monitors of course. I used to work with a dedicated KVM switch back at my last job, they were a nightmare to set up and very expensive. These monitors are very interesting as a first monitor for my son as he doesn't have much space. A bit pricey but i guess they'll drop in price in the next few months.
I had no idea that USB-C could be used to display video signal (especially 4k video) that's crazy!
I'm sold on the KVM feature.
You talking about perfect monitors and I’m still just trying to find a dang console under $1500
I have the Gigabyte M32UC. Do you have HDR on or off? Im just wondering since this is HDR 400. I use SDR at the moment but people are so divided about this. What do you recommend? I mainly use the monitor for PS5. Thanks!
Definitely going to get this within the next month or this month. Thanks for the video. Helped out my decision from this and the Samsung G7
Yeah I remember going from 60fps 1080, to 1440p 144hz 1ms response on PC. Night and day experience.
When are we going back to smash the OoT archery game?! That tune never gets old!
You should get some floating monitor arms, give you more space on your desk.
I wish monitors like these were smaller for me personally. It'd be great to have but I can only work with so much space!
You can get 27” or 28” 4K 2.1 Monitor
You SOLD me this monitor Bob!
Just need to get the budget
Just picked up the Odyssey G7 hdmi 2.1 last week at black friday for $650. If that one wasn't on sale, I definitely would have picked up this one.
The exact monitor I bought. Took me a while to get one longer then getting my Series X actually 🤣 It was constantly sold out everywhere 🙃
Hi there, absoutlely love this review! Is the USB-C powerful enough to pwer the Macbook of yours?
Probably will pick one up after Christmas
that is a slick setup, definitely gonna save and get these monitors, I am using an old Acer monitor and an old tv for streaming and work LOL, really need the upgrade.
Dude!! Awesome, honest AND well spoken review. I like your style man, great vid.
13:47 " i hope he makes it out of there eventually..."🤣
Just ordered one of these and your mouse pad. Now just need some dope keycaps
He looks like a knock-off John wick
Eh nice man, forgot about this video. I just bought on of the 28 inch version. Love it so far.
Thx and subcribed,best VFM monitor!
yo, KVM is actually so clutch.
Did you tell everyone about the fake HDMI 2.1 port? Limited bandwidth to 20ish GB/s?
Hey Bobby boy would you still recommend these monitors? Also what's up with the desk pads they are out of stock my dude
I have same monitor… love it
Dont game on it tho lol use it for work
Oh yeah good monitor I also have it.
Looks great, and thanks for the heads up on this monitor!
Bob just an fyi it's refresh rate not frame rate when referring to monitors. That's why it is measured is hz not fps.
Also it's good to see you coming up in the world
