The Eurovision Song Contest 1968 was the 13th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in London, United Kingdom, following the country's first victory at the 1967 contest with the song "Puppet on a String" by Sandie Shaw. Despite having won for the first time the year before, it was actually the third time that the United Kingdom had hosted the competition, having previously done so in 1960 and 1963, both of which also took place in London. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the contest was held at Royal Albert Hall on 6 April 1968, and was hosted by Katie Boyle for the third time. It was notably also the first time that the contest was broadcast in colour.
Seventeen countries participated in the contest, the same countries that had participated the previous year.
The winner was Spain with the song "La, la, la" by Massiel, and written/composed by Manuel de la Calva and Ramón Arcusa. This was Spain's first victory - and their first ever top five placing - in the contest. With her winning reprise, she became the first winner to perform part of her song in English, in addition to the original version.

France 1968's entry is really underrated nowadays
la source is my close second of 1968
Back then, the subject matter of rape was fairly taboo and the juries were impressed at France's effort for awareness. Nowadays the times are different.
1 Spain
2 United Kingdom
3 France
4 Yugoslavia
5 Portugal.
Odd Borre's "Stress" is still very relevant today. Everybody running around, trying to relax but cannot due to the fast pace of modern-day life. The orchestra is brilliant, capturing the frenzy with their instruments.
What a fantastic year, all songs are awesome, I love them. ❤
All Entries have good vocalists. Something you don't see in recent years.
Except Luxembourg
Not all people can sing with an orchestra properly (for example, the Luxembourg duet was out of key 😅😅😅)
I feel like Karel Gott's song gets overlooked by a lot of people, I honestly found the melody and the singing incredible! Truly first for me personally, the golden voice of Prague 🇦🇹🇨🇿

I Love Massiel 💖
My fav year of the 60s
Same
the only year that the two "funny" entries actually were the best. the winner being the obvious one. But Norway is clearly the underdog here with "Stress" a tribute to valium . so enjoyable!
I really, really loved the UK and Yugoslavia
Finland is underrated❤❤
Of the top 3, France 1st, Spain 2nd, UK 3rd
...so nice to watch...
...but one thing is true: soon or later, seeing this voting system, the tie should occur...
... and it happens that next year, 1969... ...and Eurovision had no way to face it!!!
...(but they could have had asked to the jury in the room at the Madrid's Royal Theatre, to vote and choose the 1969 final winner!!!)...

@@House..231Van exactly
wish they would go back to having countries sing in their native tongues
I feel like I've heard the Finnish song before even though I know full well that I can't have. It's just the ultimate in bland, throw-away sixties pop.
💕💕💕🎶🎵🎶🎤🎶🎵🎶💕💕💕
6:04 the real winner in my opinion.
Unpopular opinion? My Top 5 (6) from 1 to 5:
Germany
Switzerland
Austria (Karel Gott 🤩, the golden voice of Prague)
Finland tied with the UK
Yugoslavia
Didn’t like Spain at all 🤨
Eurovision 1968 - the year when the absolute worst song came first and two of the best came last. Make this make sense. 😂😂
i personally like Spain's entry but Finland's entry was honestly better :)
You do not have ears if you say la la la is bad, is simple but not bad

Ronnie was robbed! That was an excellent song, but it suffered the first up curse, and how!
I didn't know Austin Powers represented the UK on Eurovision 1968 😅
P.S. one of the worst winners ever☹️
one of the weakest winners ever, poor melody, non sensical lyrics, and probably cheating between Franco and Tito... sad coz Uk was iconic and France, Sweden, Yugoslavia and Belgium have incredible songs! Also love many other entries like Portugal, Netherlands, Finland and even Germany, while overrated, is fun. Norway is unique, for better and worse lol! Just not a fan of Austria, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Monaco (and Spain...)
