  • Do you want to find out if your baby has turned? In this video, Nathalie Kaufmann, Pregnancy and Birth Consultant, and Mathias Ritter, Science Geek, explain how you can tell if your baby turns head down. First, they explain the symptoms of baby turning head down that you would feel the very moment when your baby turns head down in the womb. Afterwards, they also discuss the signs of baby turning head down that you would feel AFTER your baby turns head down. Finally, they also show you how to palpate your belly if you want to find out yourself if your baby turns head down in the womb. In other words: they explain where you can expect to find the back, bump and head of your baby given that your baby turns head down and given that your baby is not in a breech position, particularly, in a transverse breech position.

    Thanks so much for watching this video! 😊 Please keep in mind: the most reliable way to tell if your baby is head down is to have a midwife check the position of your baby! However, we hope that our video will help you at least get an idea about how it feels like when your baby turns head down, so that you can at least make a guess if your baby has turned or not! 💕

    I’m a midwife in Canada. My baby turned after using your exercises followed by moxa at 33 weeks. We watched the baby turn during moxa. It was amazing and wasn’t painful. Just felt like big movements and then the shape of my belly completely changed. It became more longitudinal and a lot lower. So relieved.

    My baby was not head down at my 33 week ultrasound but was at the 37 week one to check his or her position! I had done your Breech exercises using your video and PDF frequently and remember doing it one day very thoroughly in week 36 while the baby was very active and feeling the baby turn!! I believe the head also engaged then, though it feels disengaged the last two days (I’m 38.5 now). Hoping little one stays head down at least and I can encourage that head engagement each day and in early labour!

      Hi there Hanian!
      Thanks SO MUCH for your lovely feedback! We are very happy to hear that you found our video helpful!
      By the way: there are several things a woman can try to turn a baby:
      As long as a woman is less than 34 weeks pregnant, we have found that an exercise called "pelvic rocking" on a birthing ball is the most effective tool to turn a breech baby. We explain how it works in this video (actually, everything that we explain in this video could help): th-cam.com/video/X3sOObqZHrY/w-d-xo.html
      And then once a woman is in week 34, we have found that "moxibustion" in combination with breech baby turning exercises is more effective to turn a baby. We explain how this approach works in this video: th-cam.com/video/e-kh6nxGkCk/w-d-xo.html
      We hope this helps! 😊

      Hello there👋
      i wanted to know if you guys had patients who were 33 and 34 weeks who had 1-3 contractions a day and went up to 36-40 weeks of pregnancy?

    • @CareAboutLittleOnes
      @CareAboutLittleOnes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mellee4732 Hi there Mel 😊,
      yes, we did! 😊
      Please note that sometimes, women experience contractions sometime between week 33 and week 36 which may feel like real contractions. They can be pretty intense and even come in regular intervals. However, they are not real contractions, they are "drop contractions" (in fact, there is not really a word for that in the English literature - we came up with it). The purpose of those contractions is to "press down" that baby into the pelvis.
      After this period of contractions (which often lasts some 3 days), the contractions stop and the belly has dropped. So, if you experience that your belly is dropping, then it could be related to those "drop contractions".
      That said, if you are concerned that you are in preterm labor, please don't hesitate to talk with your midwife as soon as possible! It's always better to make the call!
      We hope this helps! 😊

      Thanks so much for your lovely comment and feedback!! We are glad that you found our video helpful!! 😊😊
      By the way: something that has helped many women turn their babies even from frank breech positions, is moxibustion in combination with breech baby turning exercises. The idea here is not only to provide your baby with more space to turn (thanks to the exercises) but also to encourage the baby to turn (with moxibustion)... We explain the concept here: th-cam.com/video/e-kh6nxGkCk/w-d-xo.html

      However, we have found it to be most effective from week 34 of a pregnancy. Before that, we have found that "pelvic rocking" on a birthing ball is more effective to turn a baby. We explain how it works in this video: th-cam.com/video/X3sOObqZHrY/w-d-xo.html

      @@CareAboutLittleOnes thank you I just had my doctor appointment yesterday and she is head down now😁, I got a birthing ball and just did some simple positioning like child pose and the inverted one (with the help of my partner) and the flashlight trick. I think I use the birthing ball more though since it was just more convenient to sit on while watching TV or something, I regret not getting it sooner because it's super comfortable for someone that's struggled with pgp this whole pregnancy 😅...I did get the moxa stick but didn't get a chance to use them, is it okay to use it still? dose it provide any other benefits? Or could I risk her flipping back to the breech position? Thank you again for your video's they've been very informative.

      @@94stephie1 Ooh, that's GREAT to hear that your baby has turned!! 👍👍 It's a great relief for every woman! ❤️😊
      Oh, definitely use the birthing ball! It's such a wonderful tool for pregnant women (in particular for women with pelvic pain by the way 😊). Moreover, please note that women who are using a birthing ball in the final weeks of their pregnancy, tend to have a better Bishop score, which is a measure for how ready your cervix is for labor. Because of that, we recommend each and every women to use a birthing ball, particularly during the final weeks of their pregnancy. Here are some great exercises by the way: th-cam.com/video/UgrbOc4cebY/w-d-xo.html
      Regarding the Moxa sticks: there is no risk that your baby would flip again when you apply Moxa. However, the application of Moxa would be pointless at this point. But if you have ordered them on Amazon, you can probably send them back and get a refund?
      Enjoy the birthing ball! We wish you all the best for your final weeks and if you have any more questions, please ask! We are happy to help if we can!! ❤️😊

    i'm on my 30th week and my baby changes his position from breech to cephalic to breech every 1 or 2 days.

    • @CareAboutLittleOnes
      @CareAboutLittleOnes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there 😊,
      oh yes, we met many women who had a similar problem! Trust us, you are not alone! 😊
      However, we would not need to worry too much about it! The reason why most breech babies do not turn head down eventually is because something prevents them from doing so. However, in your case, you know that that does not apply to your baby!
      So, if your baby has turned head down once (or many times), baby can always do it again. And such babies normally always end up in the correct position...
      So, don't worry right now! After all, you are only just 30 weeks pregnant... Plenty of time for your baby to "do the right thing" 😊
      We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby!! ❤️

      we can totally confirm this! It is very difficult to evaluate if a baby has turned from a frank breech position into a "normal" head down position. Even experienced professionals have a hard time doing so!
      By the way: the video that we posted today (th-cam.com/video/K5uxfr0YJ_E/w-d-xo.html) could be helpful because it shows you how to sit in order to provide your baby with more room to turn....

      Hi there 😘,
      unfortunately, this can happen! However, in our experience, such babies almost always end up in the right position eventually! The good news here is: nothing seems to prevent your baby from turning. If he has done it twice, he can do it again!

      @@carolmusya4113 Hi there,
      as for your first question, it is very difficult for us to answer. We can only guess that one part is the body, the other part the head. However, please keep in mind that even experienced professionals find it difficult to determine the baby's position, even when palpating your belly...
      As for yours second question: unfortunately, there is nothing that you can do to reduce the pain. Baby's like to move around in there and stretch their legs. We know that it can be painful. But until they get out, unfortunately, nothing is gonna help. But as always, if you believe that something is not right, please talk with your doctor as well! ;-)

      Hello,
      Really lovely 😍 to read from you. Had my 32 weeks Midwife appointment and baby was head down no wonder the constant peeing 🤣🥰 but apparently baby flipped over and at 34 weeks when we had a 4 D scan, baby was head up. Went for 34weeks Midwife appointment a few days later and the Midwife couldn't tell this time where baby was lying and I couldn't tell as well. So we booked a 36 weeks fetal position scan and baby flipped over thankfully head down and was quite deep into my pelvis reasons why we could not tell where the head was ealier 😅. This baby has been to every corner in my belly definitely having fun 🙈❣. Head down and back to the left and engaged now so just hoping for a safe birth.
      I'm 38 weeks plus 2 days today and can't wait. Any tips to naturally induce labour if its right?
      I've been Midwife led my entire pregnancy and its been very ok aside from constant Vomiting and nausea but which has subsided the last couple of weeks.
      Thank you for all your tips I've been trying most of your exercises ❣🥰.
      How can I tell if I am dilating? The braxton hicks contractions and back aches are killing me 😔. Its on a daily basis now

      @@angangablessing4978 Hi there! 😊
      You really seem to have a very active baby! 😅😅
      But if baby is head down and engaged, then you are all set for your big day! That's the most important factor.
      Here is the thing: if your baby is head down AND engaged at 38 weeks, we really would not worry too much about going into labor.
      Don't worry about your dilation! Because even if you know that you ARE dilated, what does it tell you?
      It just makes you worried about how to dilate further.
      The most important thing to do is relax. Because your baby is engaged, baby's head will put more pressure on your cervix. Therefore, your baby now actively supports your body with the cervical changes. So, nothing to worry about!
      You can try the tips that we show on our channel. But please do not worry that you won't go into labor. It WILL happen when it's the right time.
      I know this is hard when your back aches kill you. But trust that your body knows what it is doing. After all, you are MADE to deliver a baby!
      We wish you ALL THE BEST for the upcoming birth, for you and your baby!! ❤

      Aww really happy for all your support 💕 tips and encouragement. Yes, this baby is very active. The movements say it all 🤣 but I love every bit of the experience. Yes, I'm not very worried as I know baby will come anytime soon so just relaxing, doing some gentle exercises, trying to rest, eat appropriately and wait for our big day 🙈. My husband knowing baby is head down and engaged is absolutely scared of anything sex at the moment 🤣🤣 as he feels it will have an effect on baby's head 🙈. I've tried to convince him otherwise to no avail but I've given up🙈🤣 though I would have loved to be more active in this domain at this time as well as I feel it may help? It's our first baby so just learning all the way 🙏

      @@angangablessing4978 😅😅😅 Many husbands feel that way!
      A midwife once told us that a couple arrived at the hospital after having had sex. And the guy's head was red like a tomato.
      First, she did not know why, but then he suddenly yelled at her: "So why don't you just say it? It's all my fault that she went into labor!" 😅😅😅
      As if it was a bad thing....
      Guys...
      But I can assure you that sex won't harm the baby in any way!
      And yes, it may even help to speed up the process!
      So, maybe you can convince him that it's actually good for the baby! 😅😅

    Hai,i am 34 week pregnant,i feel more kicks at upper belly,and sometimes a bump in right side,i didint understand what part is that,sometimes i feel hardness on left and right side of belly,what this indicates,is my baby comes into head down position? And i dont know how hicups feel like..

    • @CareAboutLittleOnes
      @CareAboutLittleOnes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there 😊,
      if you feel your baby's kicks in your upper belly, that's one sign that your baby is turning head down. The bump on the side, that's NORMALLY the baby's back. The hardness on the left and right side can be many different things, depending on the current position of your baby. And by the way: baby hiccups feel like popcorn popping in your belly! But you don't need to worry, because most women say that if their baby DOES have hiccups, then they can FEEL it... So maybe, your baby just hasn't had that many hiccups so far... 😊
      In general, the problem is that there are so many different kinds of ways how your baby could lie in your belly. For example: it could also be that your baby lies with baby's back to your back. Because of that, finding out the position of your baby is really difficult (as we point out throughout the video). There is only one person who can tell you for sure: and that's your midwife! 😊
      All the best for you and your baby!! ❤️❤️

      @CareAboutLittleOnes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SincerelyKatandPhilip Ah! We are so sorry! There was an error yesterday in our TH-cam backoffice, so we could not see under which video you left your comment. But now your comment makes perfect sense! 😊
      So, basically, the palpations that you would have to do are exactly the same. However, it is just way more difficult to feel the baby in such a case (although it depends a bit on the BMI), not only for an untrained person, but also for a midwife by the way. That is why we also explain the “signs and symptoms” that you would normally feel in your body if your baby turns head down. And we do that in the hopes that they will also help women who - for whatever reasons - are not able to do the palpations or simply don’t cannot feel their baby that well (for example: if the baby is too deeply engaged in the pelvis, you cannot feel the baby’s head by means of palpations…).
      Therefore, we really hope that at least the signs and symptoms that we describe here will help you find out if your baby is turning head down… 😊

    My baby was in the right position until week 37, then She decided to turn at week 38 so now she is Breech. The movement was strong and I felt it in all my belly, now she moves and kicks but nothing drastic. The doctor tried an ECV but she didn’t turn. Do you think is too late for her to turn? Tomorrow is going to start week 39 and I’m scheduled for a Cesarean on Friday, I really want to have a natural birth, I had a good experience with my first kid and was hoping for the same 😭

    • @CareAboutLittleOnes
      @CareAboutLittleOnes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there Viviana ❤️,
      we are very sorry to hear that your baby turned so late and that ECV did not help... Unfortunately, it does happen sometimes...
      Please note that some babies do turn in the very last minute. In so far, there is still a small probability that your baby will turn. However, there are also ways to support that process in natural ways:
      What we would do at the clinic in such cases is applying moxibustion (in combination with breech baby turning exercises). We explain how this approach works in this video: th-cam.com/video/e-kh6nxGkCk/w-d-xo.html. Keep in mind that moxibustion is an important part of the process, although even the exercises alone DID help some women turn their babies as late as week 40 (just check the comments below the video). Still, moxibustion is what could make the difference.
      Another thing which helped many women is the best sleeping position which we explain in this video: th-cam.com/video/L0Fb_HdBtog/w-d-xo.html
      Maybe you find these videos helpful too? Please let us know if you have any questions! We really want to help you turn your baby!

    what is posterior placenta ? does it make labor hard and long

    • @CareAboutLittleOnes
      @CareAboutLittleOnes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there Sara 😊 ,
      the term "posterior" simply refers to the location of the placenta in your uterus. Posterior means that the placenta is attached to the back wall of the uterus (i.e. the wall close to your back). Scientific studies have not shown that there are any major complications such as a particularly long or hard labor in case of a posterior placenta, except maybe slightly higher chances of a preterm birth because the blood flow in a posterior placenta is often less efficient. But that's really all they could find (at least to our knowledge).
      We hope this helps! 😊
      All the best for you and your baby! ❤️
