The first thing I noticed about this reel is its weight th-cam.com/users/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I wouldn't say it was uncomfortable but it was a little heavier than other similarly sized reels. However, that didn't deter my enjoyment of how smooth this reel is. I spooled it with 20lb. Tuf-Line XP and it's perfect for what I use it for. I have it paired with an 8'6" Medium/Fast Okuma SST Salmon/Steelhead rod. The combination is perfect for casting and even drifting. I used the reel all day and didn't experience any arm or hand fatigue except when fighting a few fish! The bail is solid and feels strong when engaging by reeling and manually closing the bail by hand. The large rubber handle grip is very comfortable. It's got a powerful drag, silky smooth reeling, and feels very comfortable in the hands. I recommend it!
We catch Jaguar cichlids at Holiday Park on a regular basis. Oscars and Mayans are good eating but the Jaguars tend to be dark and not as good. Peacocks are taste quite good. I've heard they were introduced to control Mayans and they have failed miserably. They are not considered to be invasive since they were introduced by the state. We will catch several different varieties of cichlid ( oscars, Peacocks and Mayans are cichlids) most trips. It's nothing to catch 200 fish in a day. Excellent tasting fish, good fighters, and no limit, except on Peacocks.
Brother, that wasn’t a fishing video! That was a catching video 🔥! This video is sick, lots of fun to watch with Vik on the camera. Stay safe out there brother!
To put catching fish in the Everglades in perspective, I caught a 5lb+ bass when I was 12 on an ocean rod using bologna. I was so mad at my dad when I saw the tackle he loaded. Added bonus: I didn't know how to tie knots well yet. I lost 2 others before finally landing that one. God strike me dead if this isn't fact.
Definitely some good fishing action, but part of me can’t help but feel a little sad about the invasive species… I fished some of those Everglades canals and Tamiami Trail bridges with my dad in my youth and the beetle spin was my favorite lure. Instead of Oscars, cyclids, and peacocks, we would catch big bull bluegill, shell crackers, and largemouth. Of all those fish you caught, only 1 native and not a single big bluegill or shellcracker coming off those rocks and grass I used to throw at…. Too late now…. The damage is done.
That's how it is fishing 75 down south. I caught every bit of 40 peacocks with a bunch of mayans and Oscar's. Only 3 largemouth and they were small and very skinny.
I heard you ask Capt. Johnny why we don’t grow Big peacocks, not sure if he gave you an answer but the species we have in Florida only get to be about 6 pounds max, the Striped peacocks are the ones that get into the 20s.
@@RyanMorie I was first with the right answer, so we're best friends now, right? But more than likely you'll call me Grandma. You are about the same age as my oldest grandson... I'm a pretty proud grandma cause you are awesome to watch. Keep up the good work, play?
