Formed in 1664 Royal Marines have plenty of experience in combat. They've been in a variety of wars including, Seven Years' War, the Napoleonic Wars, the Crimean War, World War I and World War II, Falklands War, the Gulf War, the Bosnian War, the Kosovo War, the Sierra Leone Civil War, the Iraq War and the War in Afghanistan.
They're an elite amphibious force that can operate in every environment and climate around the globe. Today the Royal Marines focus on Counter-Terrorism in the Middle East and domestically.
In 2019 the Royal Marine's role started to change back to its original commando role conducting small-scale raids and supporting British Special Forces around the world.

This one must have been easier to make. Not only are they an unmatchable fighting force but they also have some of the best advertising / PR of any unit anywhere. The footage they produce is always top quality, as is what you have done with it.

our countrys armed forces fill me with so much pride when watching these vids.
you know, i dont think it would be much fun as an enemy soilider facing our guys knowing you have the SAS, SBS, royal marines, paras and the Gurkhas coming your way, thats not a good day out at all.
as for the gurkhas, its these boys fill me with the most pride out of all of them, mighty warriors from a distant land who give their lives for our country. and everyone of them a tiger with a sharp steel claw!

Some of the best troops on the planet. Great video and worth noting that one of the guys who went in the Afghan mission was a RE Captain. Huge respect to them all.

the royal marines are not a unit of the british army.they are funded by the admiralty ie royal navy

At least they don't need to use them in combat as they run Elcans

I have a question so can a black African American 🇺🇸 join the Royal Marines because I plan on joining the U.S Marines this year and doing Infantry for 4 years and the job I’m gonna do is Mortarman then later on transition to Force Recon ☠️ then get out of the U.S Marines I know I’ve a long way to go 💯 in my military career though it’s all about patience because I definitely want to know the process of joining the Royal Marines and I want to better my future especially excel and try a new challenge and especially of learning new things in the Royal Marines and the UK 🇬🇧 life I have hella respect for the UK 🇬🇧 much love ♥️ though I don’t know everything about the military in any shape or form though it’s something I’m definitely looking forward to do 💯💪🏾

Andy. Security guards for the entire British military really. Every Afghanistan tour was basically achieving something where the Army had failed totally. The Paras were the only regiment that did the job properly. We were just baby sitter’s for inadequacy of the Army. I could write a book on how much the Corps carry’s the cannon fodder.
Edwin Dude not really you went from a bit of light banter to disrespecting the dead well done. the truth of the matter is each and every unit had success and failures had people killed and injured in the process and the marines didn’t capitalise on fuck all exactly the same as every other brigade that went smash the leavening fuck out of an area clear it move on only for it to be reoccupied by the taliban the minute people left that was the reality of Afghanistan same as Iraq you had you wins and your losses not taking anything away from the boot necks but I didn’t see you doing anything different than the rest of the teeth arms 🤷♂️

Fun fact: the Royal Marines Commandos were actually formed after/during the second world war. The original form of the commandos was by Winston Churchill during ww2 because he wanted a team of specialist soldiers to go behind enemy lines and disrupt them and just cause chaos. The original commandos came from all branches of the military and we're paid no more than their salary from their regular role. The royal marines then saw this and many of them joined the UK's commando force. It wasn't until after/the end of ww2 where the royal marines became the Royal Marines Commandos we know today and are now an elite fighting force of the British Military (Tier 2 Special Forces) and are a key asset to ensure global security and national security for this great nation 💪🏻

At the end of the second world war the Army Commandos were disbanded and the Royal Marines were given the Commando role. The training regimen of the RM CDO is the same as that of the WW2 Commandos, Nine mile speed marches, 30 milers with full pack, Tarzan course and Endurance course. It was a proven method of producing hard men for hard tasks and has been part of the training at CTC Lympstone ever since. The Green Beret is a symbol of membership in an elite regiment of the Royal Navy.
