I've been playing this yesterday/today (the line is blurred). They did a great job, feels like a Metroid game, alright, pain points and all. That feeling of 'where do I go next?', or game progression actually behind some hidden blocks you need to blow up (not just optional bonus items, like usually). Took me a while to find these. in Cataris I saw the two "hot" rooms and though I just had to come back later with a new suit, then they got me again in Dairon. I have to remember this is Metroid, I have to shoot every single brick in every room :D At least some of the previous games' pain points are somewhat alleviated by some welcome QoL improvements, such as the map system showing you doors and items you've found that you couldn't unlock or reach yet, each with its icon and label, really makes backtracking a LOT easier. Oh, and they know exactly what they're doing with the Morph Ball, the bastards! They keep teasing you at every corner with out of reach items :) The Emmis really give off an Alien: Isolation horror vibe, I like it. It's really tense when they're patrolling, and it's even more frantic when they start chasing you. Running off in a panic without paying attention to where you're going spells guaranteed doom. But hey, I've learned. Whenever I enter an E.M.M.I zone, I make sure to look at the map and trace an escape route if things get dicey, it usually works out. All in all, I'm enjoying this game. The platforming is smooth, Samus controls really well, never felt any death has been the game's fault. Combat is really good too, that counter system is really worth learning: you can defeat many enemies in one hit with it, even those "sumo bro" robots and the giant rock shotgun. The pacing and progression is, in my opinion, on point. If you're a fan of the Metroid games (or the Metroidvania genre), I really recommend this one.
I haven't finished watching the whole video yet (I'm at 1h30min), but I think you're not utilizing the melee counter/dash melee counter on normal enemies.
Love your content and loving this playthrough. The game looks great to me. I respectfully disagree with you about your issue with being lost here. Seeing as you'd just got the morph ball upgrade and used it to navigate that area a lot, chances were that morph ball gap was significant in some way. I was shocked you didn't try it straight away, especially as you're familiar with super metroid with its hidden paths! Edit: rewatch 2:15:55 and decide if you think it was easy to miss, lol
SUCH an easy thing to miss, especially for a mandatory progression route. if it was for some bonus item that's cool but given how super easy it was to not see that in an already big area with multiple dead-ends... i stand by my decision that it was whack lol

Not that you were told already at the first EMMI encounter that they hear you... Nah... whenever in an active EMMI zone it's crucial to stand still and shoot bullets in random directions as long as possible until the killerbot mysteriously finds you.
Your lack of Metroid experience was illuminating, which I must assume is the only reason for your disparaging remarks against Super Metroid ;p. Ya need to A) Stop letting what appears to be dead ends actually be dead ends. Gotta blow up all the walls and floors, especially when you see little boxes that seem to connect to nothing, there's always a way in. B) You're really not using counters very much, and those help tremendously. The smasher robots are just a counter shot away from dead, as are most bad guys in the game. Learn to look for those sparks right before they attack!
I think you were the fastest to parry one of the E.M.M.I.s for the first time! Damn bro- it seems like all the years of Mario kaizo experience payed off.
It’s funny. I think good gamers have a harder time with this. Or at least make it harder on themselves. The “pro” streamers I’ve watched tend to not read the text or recognize really obvious clues. More than any other I’ve played, this Metroid leads you through. It shows you exactly what to do if you just do what it says and trust it. Personally, I really like that, but people who are looking for a difficult time may be disappointed. Unless they just ignore everything and run around randomly.
This game is hard as balls, and possibly the hardest Metroid title so far, not sure what you mean by that. The difficulty escalate a lot after the X plot point.
Since I waited so long for this game to come out and I don't want anything spoiled, I'll have to watch after I beat the 3rd boss. Glad you played and streamed it!
2:05:05 Pretty sure you could have actually gotten that without going into the lava, look a bit further up and there's a "wall-exploding" section right behind that wall, all you had to do was shoot a charged shot at it I think. Edit: nevermind, you figured it out..
@@agdala1591 It was quite annoying when he seemed to forget that he has a counter ability that works against normal enemies too and it's extremely effective especially against the larger enemies like the ones shooting fire along the ground but I wouldn't say it wasn't fun.
Pro tip for EMMI? RUN, you can but are not supposed to counter them. It's faster and more reliable to get away. Just use your suroundings and your abilities to outrun the EMMIs. Works 9/10 times. You never need to explore a whole EMMI zone at once, you usually just have to go from the entrance to one or 2 specific exits, all other ways are usually blocked until later. So don't spend too much time with the EMMIs, not worth it, belive me! Another pro tip, READ the description for the power ups you get, they explain very good how they are used and what you can do, I don't get why people skip all the info and then wonder why they don't know about half the things ....
@@Silverslayed Are you talking about the emmi? You do know they have 4 different counter animations and the timing is slightly randomized each time. Essentially its mostly luck, and no ones gonna get it 100% of the time.

hahah a very obvious and well-paragraphed nook to roll into is cryptic? I think it's more cryptic that you don't observe the obvious details in the environment and kinda rush through it.
I've said this before and I'll say it again: If the only Chozo that can control the Metroids is dead now, how does this not be as big a monkey wrench in the galaxy conquering plan as the extinction of the Metroids? Even IF the Chozos can bring them back with the DNA in Samus, they no longer have a means of controlling the Metroids. This whole fiasco went up in smoke the moment the old Chozo got shot in the back!!!
Nope not cryptic. Random two blocks that can be morph balled into? You spent so much time in other dead ends and none in the dead end that was actually the right way.
