For anyone that enjoys Wily Wars, check out Sequel Wars! It's a high-quality upcoming fanmade project to make 4-6 in the style of Wily Wars, but it goes even further than that; there is a demo currently available if you want to see it in action. The demo is currently only available on emulator, but the final release will also be fully compatible on real Genesis hardware!
Mega Man has always been my favorite video game franchise. I can't explain why exactly, I just like it, lol. Mega Man 4 is my favorite from the franchise.
Right there with ya, it's my earliest memory of video games. I will never forget hearing Snakeman's theme playing for the first time and following that catchy tune to whatever was making it. Saw an NES for the very first time and its been love ever since
Awesome stream Ryu, as always. Only caught MM1 & MM2 live, just now finished watching the rest. Can't wait to watch you take on Wily Tower. Thanks to @Dproc8 for the shout out
@@GeneralFrankenberry sega channel was a service you could purchase from your local cable provider that allowed you to play a variety of genesis games by temporarily downloading them via your coax cable line. This man beat all three games in a row on a single 3 hour stream at an average of a game per hour. If I was lucky, I could beat one in an evening. What a guy! Looking forward to you tackling on the Wily Tower!
And he did that on his very first playthrough of this game. Sure, he did beat the original NES games already, but they are not exactly the same in every way.
It took me a week to do that, without the save states obviously or I would have been a lot faster. I’m already glad that this game have a save function instead of passwords.
@@c0mpu73rguy The save function is very handy! I have The Wily Wars on Genesis. However... the save function never worked. 😵 I beat the whole thing ONCE in a life time. Not sure what's wrong with the cartridge. Only the save function fails. A friend has a cartridge of SMW with the same problem.
To be fair, he has played & beaten MegaMan classics before and once you beat a game it's rather easy to replicate. If you know the weaknesses and the level layout each game is quickly re-beaten.
The Mega Man 2 of Wily Wars is set to its hardest Difficulty! I would have said so on the night you played this... but I just came across this tonight... and thank you not only for this playthrough but for reminding me of how good/better the games music are in 16bit
MegaMan 4-6 were awesome. Four introduced the charged shot and the infinitely useful Pharaoh shot. Five has a move that turns your slide into a weapon. Most unique power up ever. Six is kind of different, all the bosses are harder to kill, but still very fun.
AKTUALLY you can charge Atomic Fire in MM2, but charging the Mega Buster was introduced in MM4. It just looked like Ryu here didn't know/remember you could charge AF when he was in Wiley Castle.
Fans are currently working on a Wily Wars sequel that contains Mega Man 4 through 6. You can find devlogs posted of it on youtube. It's worth checking out and supporting them!
did you know woodman actually heals the super end form of dr. wily in megaman 2? Like you have to hurt him with bubbles first, then you cast woodman on him, and alien wily is full health again, so epic when I made that mistake when out of bubbles lawl
MM9 and MM10 have incredible soundtracks. Honestly, I like them a bit better than MM2's and MM3's soundtracks. But... I also didn't grow up with classic Mega Man. My introduction to him was in Mega Man X, which I still think has the best soundtrack of any Mega Man game. It's hard to say if it's nostalgia or just taste. But they all have stellar soundtracks.

Really hoping Mega Man Maker adopts some of these 16 bit redesigns backwards into the 8 bit style! :P @2:21:58 Play the fangame *"Mega Man Rocks"* . Not the best quality, but it's amusing. Police Man's soundtrack ROCKS. B)
Man, I remember importing a PAL copy of this some 20+ years ago and modifying my genesis just to play this. I was BLOWN AWAY by the graphics, despite the frame rate dropping if there was anymore than a couple guys on screen lol. I can’t remember if I ever got it to run at 60hz… I seem to remember I had two switches on my modified Genesis, one for output format (NTSC/PAL) and another for speed (60/50hz) but I do seem to recall it running slow, like the game was in slow mo. Anyway, it turned out to be one of the best investments I’ve ever made as the PAL original in good shape is over $1K now 😶
I wonder if he played Mega Man Network Transmission. Probably not. If not, I highly recommend playing it. It plays like a traditional Mega Man with some elements from the Battle Network series and some Metroidvania elements. The music is really good too.
The reason you haven’t played this as others mentioned in North America this was exclusive to the short lived Sega Channel subscription service via select cable TV carriers. Until this reprint cartridge & the ports on Sega Genesis mini/Switch Online you either had to emulate or import a European cartridge & play at 50 fps.
Mega Man Heck ya. Hey Ryu, just out of curiosity did they carry the hack over where you hold left or right (can't remember which, been a while) on the second player controller, which allowed you to jump in and out of pitfalls in Mega Man 3 and not die 😁👍. I remembered discovering that as a kid and was like.. hell ya lol
Damn, that "Together as One" version of MM2 Wily Stage 1 gave me such Omoide wa Okkusenman flashbacks. Listened to it as a kid and, at the time, didn't understand the lyrics at all. Damn.
This game was good being a collection but i still looove the original Nes version, the sounds, the music i like genesis aswell but my heart belongs to nes version,in genesis the bombs doesn't have sound, weird.
Haha! Those Heatman blocks were the worst. I’m a stubborn person though and as a kid learned to do them because I selected the level early. What can ya do eh? Always forget how many remakes and remixes Megaman has. Nice to see them get love. Edit: The fact you didn’t upload the tower to watch as well kills me.
Metal Man is harder because the game is defaulting to “difficult” setting from the NES, and the “lightning” indicating that the conveyor belt floor was changing direction with each flash. Wood does work on Airman, you just kept hitting the mini tornadoes, which canceled it out.
He’s good but average, not amazingly good. However, he’s GREAT in super Mario world, Kaizo, maker etc… I think he’s the e best player I’ve seen in Mario maker.
Flashman's stage was always one of my favorite tunes on Megaman 2, for sure. But I tell you, I feel like the music in this version lacks the punch that it had on the NES. I don't know how to explain it. It's like the music in this version is too soft or something. It might just be that the volume is lowered than what it would sound like playing it in person vs. over the stream, I'm not sure. But yeah, growing up, this music was the best in all of video games after Nintendo's first party game music!
They *DID* change the *Fireman* A.I. in this one; he is WAY less aggro. But, however, those little ground flames were always there. They just never really mattered w/ that a-hole machine-gunning *Fire Storm* at you.
During the first MM1 Wily stage, Ryu could have just taken a bunch of the little weapon refills and would have saved himself several minutes of farming...
I tried playing this on Nintendo online and my god, the controls felt like they were stuck in mud. Literally took a second just for the button to turn mega man in a given direction to register.
The Switch sadly just has a major input delay issue tied to the hardware. Splatoon 1 had very responsive gyro aiming, but in Splatoon 2 it was pretty much double the input delay. Splatoon 3 is a minor improvement, but mostly because they improved the aiming mechanics in general. Either way, that along with input delay issues being incredibly common for many Switch versions of games (and especially ports) pretty much just shows... Nintendo didn't care when making the hardware. I hope it'll get fixed with Nintendo's next system. The Mega Man Battle Network collection is going to be horrible to play on the Switch.
@@thenonexistinghero There is NOT a major input delay with the Switch. If you are experiencing input delay, it’s because you don’t have your TV set to game mode. Your TV is causing the input lag, not the Switch.
I played this game on my Switch and never once experienced that. The controls feel different from the NES counterparts, I’ll admit that, but that’s the game, not Nintendo.
@@thenonexistinghero The only input lag that’s ever been documented, would be on the emulated online games, but only certain games and it’s been resolved in updates. That’s still not built into the Switch. The fact you immediately resorted to ad hominem attacks says a lot. Pathetic.

Play the Japanese version. It doesn't have the slowdown or sluggish gameplay of the European versions. Not sure about the recent North American releases though. I think it has to do with the EU version being formatted for PAL 50hz whereas the Japanese version is NTSC 60hz. I'd assume the NA version is the same the JP version but you should try them out and see what you think. It certainly made the game more fun to play for me.
I felt the same way specifically on metal man stage. the genesis was a good system but it's sound can get kinda ehh sometimes. Sonic sounds great then a game like this gets outdone by the nes.
