When my Dad was diagnosed with colon cancer and was told he had just months to live he began to live "in the moment". He would sit outside and puff his cigarettes and I'd see him just staring at things, trees, grass, flowers, up at the sky, birds... as if he'd never truly noticed them before. He taught me, as a result, to spend more time "living in the moment" and appreciating things more.
You have much to teach others about appreciating the simple things as you journey through this. Continuing to pray for you.

My father was the exact same way... I also had a friend in hospice dying and would have nurses wheel her bed to the outdoor court so she could puff away.which she did until her last breath. How awful!!

I have no words to say how sad and sorry I am Sarah has passed away. She was a fantastic person. I hate death so much. Especially when we have to lose people at such a young age. Dieing is bad enough even if we all die past 80 it is said, but we are losing people younger and younger and more and more. Thank you for sharing Sarah with all of us. I feel we were blessed to have her in our lives. Sending your family love and hugs.

You both made an excellent point recalling the doctor's prediction of what could happen in a month if no treatment was provided. When you finally start treatment, almost half a month will have passed since he uttered those words. I would suggest you email him and ask if there is any way that treatment could be started sooner, given the prognosis and the timetable he laid out. If he does not respond in a few days, call. Don't be afraid of being "pushy". We are all so intimidated by doctors and we refrain from speaking up. Yet being a retired health care professional who practiced for fifty years in a variety medical settings I will tell you two basic truths: (1) some flexibility in scheduling is always possible. Scheduling is a clerical issue. The doctor may not even be aware of the reason why you have to wait so long--or even of the date! But he is very much aware of how aggressive your disease is. You are dealing with human beings who can find a way of squeezing you in. That date is not carved in stone; the treatment is available. (2) The squeaky wheel always gets the grease. Those who are nicely but persistently assertive are the ones most likely to be "moved up the list" in a medical setting. Don't buy into the idea that you might be displacing another patient. There are many ways of arranging things which don't involve sacrificing anyone's well being. You should not be put in a position of making that sacrifice when timing is so very critical.
excatly it's a scheduling issue more often than not..my dr. had no idea i was having a hard time scheduling a visit.

I have to say I do agree. I cannot help feeling 10th is far too long to wait. Prognosis of 1 month which is only a guess without treatment, yet wait half a month or so, really does not feel right. There are other people but there won't surely be many at this critical point. Is lovely to see you both talk, but I hope it can start next week. I agree, if you have to big it up even more, please do. My instinct says this needs to start immediately. We want you to have the absolute best chance xxx
I *definitely* second this. I don't want to sound a medeling follower or annoying but I am an RN and if this Sarah was my sister I would be on the phone every day asking if there is any way to get in sooner or go on a cancelation list or something. Tell them about the changes you are seeing ever day you wait tell, tell them about the prognosis. I've had doctors walk onto the floor when I'm working and tell the manager we have to get someone in ASAP and we are full but we keep a space as soon as we can and make it happen. I have every faith that Sarah is strong and praying she will beat the odds, but The earlier she can be on treatment the better. As a nurse I want to advocate for her even if it means over stepping as a follower. Please take this as a post of love not negativity and please forgive me if this isn't something you want or need to hear. I am praying for you!

I’ve seen documentaries on people who were told they had a month left to live and lived 20 years!! I also believe in miracles, maybe you will be cancer free and live for 20 years. Sending you all the love from Canada!! Thank you for sharing your story. Stay strong!!

Bless you! I am a stage three colon cancer survivor, and I don’t think the possibility of reoccurrence has ever left. Sometimes I forget but it’s definitely a fear. I hope you have a long remission as possible. And still expect miracles!

So, if I miss her, I can imagine what YOU are going through : the pain, the lack, the sadness, even despair sometimes, the emptiness… this big bed … And also, I so much hope these videos can and will HELP You all, watching them TOGETHER ❤
Hi Sarah. You may have vertigo with nystagmus. Nystagmus is what makes your eyes move while you are experiencing vertigo. I know from experience. I think and pray for you often. I can't imagine what thoughts you may be experiencing. We love you guys a lot. My heart is with you❤
@maureensmith9923 the only medicine I was given was Antivert but, honestly, it didn't really help. I know other people who have also not benefitted much. Sometimes just getting in the right position can help. I find that propping pillows helps somewhat.
I had that too but didn't know the name for it. It happened to me in the middle of the night and was extremely frightening. I thought I was dying. My husband took me to the hospital and was diagnosed with vertigo. It took about six weeks to get back to normal. My eyes moved like I was in a spin cycle. It was horrible.
@kaycampbell8532 me too! I lived alone at the time and thought I was going to have to call an ambulance. I woke up to go to the bathroom and face planted into the floor. I called my boss who was a doctor. After explaining my symptoms, he told me what it was. I felt so unwell for at least a week.

If all is silent tonight and hoolie continues will hear the sea
Today from my bed I have watched birds delight in the soothing rain and munch on seeds as they chirp away all pushing to get turn at feeder.

I have been more and more kind and empathetic since the day I found out about my diagnosis. I think it has totally made me a better person. You know that song live like you were dying, yeah that’s it exactly. I am one year in now, and I chose to do a weird thing, My daughter and I got my cancer ribbon with boxing gloves tattooed on us when I first got diagnosed, and my plan became getting a flower added every anniversary of that day. I just got my first flower. I joke that I will have a half sleeve of flowers on my arm before it’s over. Oddly the flower makes me happy, it’s like go me look how far I’ve made it. Sending love and hugs to all of you. And Sarah, it is always a special day when I see your beautiful face.

Josh, Sarah, & family. Watching Sarah in pain and not being able to help is very hard. I know how you feel. I watched my Mom & Dad and other family members suffer before they take their final breathes. Sarah is and will always be in our hearts. Their isnt the right or wrong words to say at this very difficult time. Sarah is so loved and she knows that. Josh, cry, scream, be mad, laugh, you have the right to do this. My heart is so broken for you all. Take it one minute at a time. Keep talking to her, hold her, kiss her. She maynot be able to communicate but she can hear you. Something you may try to treat with for the long run: fresh cherries (eat the seed, too), and apricot seeds. My friend has Stage 4 triple negative breast cancer and this is her 3rd or 4th battle. She started taking apricot seeds when they found it had spread and Keytruda didn’t work. The new spots do not show up active anymore and are basically gone. My Pops swore by fresh cherries for gout, so we did some research on those, and the cyanamide in cherries and apricot seeds basically make the cancer cells die and do not bother healthy cells, because our healthy sales can process them. Eat cherries like candy (fresh ones) and maybe it will at least stunt any growth of cancer cells. I know you’ve probably gotten lots of advice, but it’s been on my heart to share. I hope it helps and will give you more time. XO Birdie

I know it's strange to say..I feel deeply for this family even thou I never met them..I spent decades working in the end of life and saw this journey hundreds of time..I have been with family members in the final days..and several times I faced life threading illnesses myself..I find Sarah's honesty and openess refreshing and unfiltered..I am deeply sorry she has passed..on a personal note..today Aug 1 would and should of been my brothers 40 bday.he however gained his wings and is f38..thank you Pog family for showing the very personal very real journey..you have inspired a number of cancer patients to reach out and share🙏💙

My God what a warrior you are. No matter how rough this road has gotten, you've never lost your light. Just watching you these last few weeks has given me such a better appreciation for it all. Lol! My mom actually orders the meatless seafood boil bag and what does she like............CORN!!! We eat out after chemo and corn is always on the plate. We just get take out and eat in the car. So happy, corn and ensure is a good thing, you are eating! I just love you guys!
