@@whiskyandsynths Honestly the reviews are my favorite part of a good channel! I have never been good at reviews, though I recently brought a Polysix into the studio and plan to try a review on it very soon! :)
Excellent and honest review. I never liked OG's looks and I was tempted for this one but you are right that it is marketed with colored led lights (or in ethereal minimalist places). Not the same as in a desk or a stand just looking plasticky and transparent.
Aw that is so kind! Thank you for the comment and sub! I appreciate it and really hope you find the other videos useful too :) honestly just email me via the contact info on my page if you need music production advice or have a question!
I just got a zoom drum machine off of the fleabay and it's blue seethrough plastic. I did kind of wonder if it was for prisons where they would be able to see anything stashed inside of it lol. The problem with that is it's hard to see the words on the back of it where all the midi ports and jack sockets are. But I can probably solve that issue with a permanent marker pen
Hi! The XL has a different sound engine, and some other different features but I'm not sure if it sounds superior - I've not tried both side to side and that's also quite a subjective thing! The Crystal is based on the OG MicroKorg however, not the XL, just in case thay didn't come across in the video
Well yeah it might not have been the exact first synth James used, but They use a huge array of gear, and to this day have a microkorg on stage. I literally saw it on stage at all points east a few weeks ago. They also got a custom built unit for Nacy that incorporates 4 microkorgs plus other stuff into one mega synth. You should look it up. Microkorgs and LCD are like this 🤞
If you were going to get any version of the MicroKorg, now - it would have to be the S, surely … unless you prefer certain looks, and less features and presets … 🙄😏
To be honest I might not buy one these days - for me, not enough hands on dials and controls! I prefer synths with as many controls per function as possible!
If you really want a microkorg, get an original one. Its still sold in most countries. Its atleast 100 bucks less than the crystal edition. I personally like how the Crystal Edition looks but I cant justify spending the 630€ Korg demands here on a microkorg.
Class and thanks for subbing! Ah that's a great one! I love the range of whiskies you can get, I've even been lucky to try ocotomore Aparently the smokiest!
That seethrough gig bag is great because a thief will know it is worth robbing you.
😅 That's if they can even see the see thru synth in the see thru bag 😅
@@whiskyandsynths lol
Thanks for this great overview! Interesting synth. 👍🏻
I'm so glad you like it, thank you for watching! Apart from synth reviews what other music or synth content would you like to see?

I have the microKorg S, the one with the built-in speakers. They didn't mention the microKorg Crystal having built-in speakers as well.
Yeah I don't think it does have built in speakers.. I can't remember that being mentioned
@@whiskyandsynths They only mentioned the original hardware for this model.

Aw amazing how is the zoom treating you?? My first ever drum machine was a zoom and it now is framed on the studio wall!
Isn't the XL superior in terms of sound? In any case I don't get why they haven't updated MK sound engine in over 10 years :\

Lcd sound system started with things much greater than the korg mini

A see through bag for the microKORG, is the most Japanese thing that Korg has done.
Even though I Joked about... I LOVE IT 😅

I don’t get why they didn’t make the microkorg S Crystal it’s stupid.
Not sure why!
I mean yeah but can you really make the sounds of 2007 S4LEM band on the newer synths from Arturia cause microKORG does have a unique sound to it
If you specifically want that sound, the MicroKorg might be the one for you then!

Sub, for a fellow Whisky(Laphroaig is #1, I’ll happily confirm)/Whiskey/Synth lover … 🥃🎹

Needs more sound effects
🤣 I always wonder if people willl eventually realise where my sfx come from? Clue: it's a classic game
Who is buying a synthesizer for PRESETS 😮
Ha ha do you mean the ready made sounds or the ability to save your own sounds?
