We can thank Melanie Scrofano's character for that. If she wasn't such a trigger-happy disaster, Grace would have died in 5 minutes. Watching a servant get _shot in the face_ pushed Grace from confused boredom, through shocked disbelief, and straight into survival mode.
The hide and seek game hadn’t happened in 30 years and saying “hey, I have a satanic family that might try to kill you” won’t really keep the girl you love around. He probably could’ve done a little more than what he did, but just outright telling her about something he thought wouldn’t happen wouldn’t have been good for him if he wanted to keep her.
Honestly Grace ended up winning in the end bc she now the sole owner of the toy company the family had owned. So she became a multi billionaire and she doesn’t have to follow the curse.
@@speedy01247 If grace was apart of the curse, La Bail’s box wouldn’t have burned down. La Bail would’ve let her know she is still cursed because she won the game when she survived. At the end of movie she asked for a divorce and that’s when Alex exploded. Technically meaning she is free of the curse. La Bail starts the fire and destroyed the house but did not imprint a curse on Grace, he just recognized her for a game well played. Yea she asked for a divorce but she is still legally married to Alex and apart of the family. I’ve always wondered that if Helena didn’t try to kill Grace after they lost, would they still have lived? Because they didn’t immediately die. Did they die because of poor sportsmanship?
Well they might have lived, but just imagine how AWKWARD that situation must be! They know the butler is dead. They have several dead maids. They (probably) know Grace has killed Becky and Charity literally murdered her husband. That’s one very awkward room
@@CarassiusAu - While true, they can’t fault her since they tried to kill her. I also wondered why she was spared from exploding since she technically married into the family at that point or was she still not recognized yet? Or perhaps because she wanted to divorce/annul?
@@iB0NKERS Listen to the wording. She had to play the game to be inducted into the family. It wasn't the marriage that brought her into the family and curse, it was playing the box's game. And since hide and seek has no option that lets her join, as either she or the whole family dies, she was not, under the wording of the curse, part of the family.
@@Masterthe3rd - I’d have to rewatch the movie but I don’t remember them actually discussing the curse in it specifically but I only saw it once in theaters.

Daniel is the closest thing that the Le Domases had to a decent member of their family, and he's the one who sold out Charles as a kid. Tbh, I'm kinda glad he got to go out via a gunshot wound instead of exploding. He was decidedly Not The Worst Person In The Family.
He doesn't say obnoxious things like "oh why didn't she know E=Mc² she's so stupid" he actually says things that might help in the setting of the movie
i love the theory i saw on the kill count video of this movie. the game actually ended in a draw this time, she got caught but not sacrifice so a new game needed to be picked or the marriage needs to happen again. up until Helena says she can still kill our protagonist, thus choosing hide and seek again (only game that would result in death) and auto failing due to it being past dawn. i think that's bloody hysterical, and makes the movie even better
I actually like the theory that they just died due to bad sportmanship. Helena tried to kill Grace when the game was already over. Since theyre a team against one person, the others were to die as well as Helena
As I understood it.. There cannot be a draw. The rule, as I understood it, were that they had to find her and sacrifice her for them to win. They did not do that so they lost. For her to win.. "Stay hidden till dawn" was not actually the rule to "win". The rule was "Stay alive till dawn to win". They did not tell her that as it would have been far too hard to get her to accept the game. I can be wrong tho as I have not watched the movie. Only this video about it. But I get a sense that if the rule was "Stay hidden till dawn and you win" then the sacrifice would have no reason behind it.
To be fair, that family didn't get hide and seek for years. They probably didn't feel the need to prepare for it, because even without preparation, they always won so far. They always had the numbers and weapons on their side, and with recent technology, they could even lock the doors and windows down so there's no chance of escape. I'd say they and were pretty secure, if not for the fact that Grace was a movie protagonist with the guts and skills to fight and kill her way out and the betrayal of two of their own members.

Elucidate, please. >I'm not sure I want to be part of a group where you either obey or get threatened to suffer for all eternity. That seems to go against the free will God gave us This isn't the Gospel. Read this as it breaks what I said in the Million Dollar Question down: Would you consider yourself to be a good person? How many lies have you told, and what do you call someone who lies? Have you ever stolen something, and what do you call someone who steals? Have you ever taken God’s name in vain (very serious; in Old Testament times, the Jews wouldn’t even say the name of God for fear of blasphemy) - even ‘OMG’? One more: Jesus said whoever looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery in his heart; have you ever looked with lust? Well I’m not judging you - but if you’ve done these things then you’re a liar, thief, blasphemer and adulterer-at-heart; that’s how seriously God takes sin. He is Holy (perfectly good/righteous and separate from sin) which means that H e is perfect in justice - and if He were to judge you by the moral law (we’ve already looked at 4 commandments) would you be innocent or guilty? Heaven or H***? The answer is h*** - the wrath of God upon you for your sin. Is that concerning? But fortunately, God’s will is not that you perish. He wants all men everywhere to be saved. So do you know what He did for us guilty sinners? In self-giving mercy, He sent His Son Jesus Christ. He lived the perfect life that we should have lived - tempted at all points and yet He NEVER sinned. Through His life, being in very nature God, He revealed God to men; but we in our hatred condemned Him to death. On that cross as Jesus suffered, He took on the sin of the world and was judged in our place; receiving God’s wrath. You and I broke God’s law, but Jesus paid the fine. God can justly forgive us. On that cross He died, then He was buried, but 3 days later He was raised from the dead - conquering death and H*** and ushering in The Kingdom of God. He then ascended to the right hand of God the Father (where He came from) now Lord of the living and the dead. God has fixed a date when He will judge the world in righteousness. What you need to do is repent (In humility, acknowledge your sin before God and turn to a relationship with Him) and trust ALONE in Jesus Christ and His work on the cross; and God will grant you the gift of the Holy Spirit. Then be baptised. When you place your trust in Jesus - the Lord and Saviour - these things will happen: 1) God will forgive the sins that you have committed; they were paid for by Jesus at the cross. 2) The perfect life that Jesus lived will be credited to you. He will find you holy and blameless on judgement day (and now), as Christ’s righteousness covers you. 3) You receive a place in Christ’s kingdom as an adopted child of God. God becomes your Father. Eternal life isn’t just about living forever, but a personal relationship with God Himself. That life can start now; The Father will reveal Himself to you if you seek Him. 4) God doesn’t just save you from the penalty of your sin (H***). He can save you from the power of sin itself. Whoever practices sin is a slave of sin; but when you repent and believe the gospel [WHICH HAS BEEN DESCRIBED] the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in you and sanctify you (working in you to further abandon sin and turn to the will of God). When the end of the age comes, and eternity begins, this work will be brought to completion as you are finally freed from the presence of sin. Jesus offers to take away your sin and to give you His righteousness; you must receive it by faith. Choose this day if you will align with the world, or with Jesus and His kingdom - only His is eternal. ROMANS 10:9 - If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved > Kayvon, I'm afraid you're actually following the teachings of a fake prophet. You're tempted by the Devil who created institutionalized religion to deceive people. You're actually being blasphemous by following your devil religion (OBEY OR SUFFER IN HELL! I think one thing that was interesting was that they didn't immediately combust until they tried to kill Grace anyways. To me this indicates that, had they followed the rules and admitted defeat by the end, rather then being "sore losers" They could have survived.
interesting point. It would be good to hear the rules of the game directly (& not retold by the idiots). Like, can you fail if you don't try? So the mom & her boys ran away they showed that they saw themselves as players & didn't want to abide by the rules / get the consequences, making them sore losers as well.
Or maybe Le Bail just had a flair for the dramatic and wanted them to think it was all BS until they started exploding. It seemed timed for flair- Helene exploding as she turned on Grace, Emilie and her kids blowing up when they were fleeing and Alex going pop just as Grace threw her ring at him. I think Le Bail actually liked Grace and was just enforcing the consequences at the moment he saw fit...
@vinaamii OOHHHHH, that's why she's so bitter. Well, heck, I'd just let the whole family burn then. I'd try to help Grace in that case, but at the end, I would be part of the family since you have to be corrupt.
I think that's why she goes at it with such viciousness. This game killed whatever love she had in her heart 30 years ago. All she has left is anger. Like all 1%ers, she directs that anger at others to feel better about herself.
Ready Or Not is freaking awesome! It´s goofy but clearly knows it and embraces it. Yet at the same time it´s really well written and acted. Absolutely worth a watch every now and then again.
I feel like it would’ve given too much away. “Hide and Seek,” tells you about the main focus of the movie-the game. “Til Death Do Us Part,” is more poetic, which doesn’t work for a horror comedy. It’s a nice thought, but I respectfully disagree completely that that name would fit better.
The fact the Le Domas' were hilariously incompetent and *still* almost won should say how impossible this game is to win for the victim. Grace survived by luck, grit, and thoroughly justified anger.
I can’t help but notice the message from the closing “remember:…” lines is progressively getting simpler and more obvious. “Don’t make deals with devil”, what’s next? “Remember. Breathe”
One of the most unrealistic things that I’m glad was avoided was the elephant gun working. If it worked grace would have dislocated her shoulder. Some retired military vets can barley handle the recoil on a absolute cannon like that.
I've fired one and barely felt any recoil. I literally don't understand what people talk about when they say this. Literally was no different to me than firing a 12-guage or .410 shotgun. I guess I'm not as much a wimp I think I am?
Ooh, that's a good angle! I guess success would be determined by what the devil considers 'family'. Is it just the name, or does there have to be a blood component?
There is a chance that newly weds both survive, if sacrifice isn't made. It was never stated, if only one of them is the escapee. Her asking for divorce also could indicate that. There is also possibility that quitting family altogether was the only way to escape as well.
@@John-doe955 Depends on the rules of demons in that universe. If they have to follow the specific to the letter rules of the contract, we just found a loophole. If they're allowed to engage in the spirit of the deal (i.e intent) then more than anything you probably pissed it off

27:23 I think Grace put her seatbelt on at the last second as she was lining up on Stevens before she started kicking him. After watching the movie, it was evident she was secured to the backseat because during the upside-down shots she was not falling onto the roof and remained anchored to the center of the backseat. Just before she climbs out of the wrecked car on its roof you can also hear the click of a seatbelt being undone before she falls with a thud, indicating she was actually buckled in.
In an alternate reality they were just trying to make her feel welcome by playing a game with the family, but the bride is actually a paranoid person who thinks they're trying to kill her.
that would be an interesting sequel, years later (so she has time and bla bla bla) maybe she marries a new family with the SAME traditions yet no sacrifices. and by CHANCE she got hide and seek.
2:45 well Alex technically didn't lie here. It was a randomly chosen game, that is how the other family members got in. The only lethal game was hide and seek, unless I'm remembering it wrong.

One possible strategy not mentioned... one of the reasons Grace survived is because of Daniel’s last minute change of heart. Prior to that, he was the only family member outside of Alex that showed her some level of mercy DURING the game. So in such a situation, if you discover that a hunter is having a moral dilemma w/r/t the hunt, you should absolutely (yet carefully) try to talk them into changing sides, whether it be offering them a better alternative, or pleading with their humanity. Make them see you as a person, not prey. Do what you can to illicit empathy from them; at least you might buy some life saving hesitancy from them next time you’re in their sights.
Not a solution but it could help. However it also backfiled when trying to do that with the kids. I personally preferr the idea of trying to make as defensable a room as possible. The party is partilly split up and most of the ranged weapon holders are incompetent wtih em. If she can get a gun (like when charity dropped it that woulda been a good time) or even kitchen knives which she may have better use of if she has cooking experience (considering she didn't have family to coddle her its likely she would have had to). Then trying to find a defendable area given what she has. Like barracading doors with at most one that she can get a clear shot from
I'm surprised no one at the family thought of secretly hiding/destroying the "Hide & Seek" card to prevent their loved ones from potentially getting killed.
I'd like to point out that additionally, it might've been a good idea for Grace to get in front of the drivers car. They probably couldn't see how ragged and blood-soaked she was in the dark, had she got'n in front of the car's headlights they likely would've realised she desperately needed help and stopped. They did see her and they were driving just slow enough that if she did get in front of them, they could easily stop in time before running her down. Also I love the fact that everyone just fucking explodes into a bloody paste in the end. No over-dramatic bursting into flames and screaming in horror as they realise this is officially their final moments on Earth, they just fucking explode.
Man, poor Daniel. Hopefully willingly trying to save the victim and stop the ritual for good let him leave the Devil's grasp. Unlikely, but still something to hope about.
Call it cheesy, but I think it would’ve been more interesting if the rules were changed a bit, such that, the sacrifice person needs to be “innocent” to draw the card, and if the hider survives until dawn, they don’t need to be sacrificed any more, because they’re no longer mentally innocent, and they’re now welcomed into the family. Sure, you’d have to change a few more plot points, but I like the idea that the hide ’n’ seek game as really just a way to make innocent family newcomers sinful.
Well it is a deal with a devil. There wouldn't be any point if people didnt have to die. Normally people are sacrificed to the devil just because they need sacrifices. At least in this movie there is a chance that you may not draw the hide and seek card, also the fact that you can win if you survive the entire night
@@iTwineOG the narrator of the video points out that it doesn’t appear to be random, and that it might be deterministic based on how virtuous the family’s new addition is, given that none of the sinful in-laws drew the hide-n-seek card

I got the impression that the devil was not wanting to keep up the deal and decided to find someone who knew could break the curse and he'd collect the souls of the family after giving them riches for so long.
I just think she’s lucky that the family is pretty terrible at this game in the first place. If they decided to use every resource at their disposal and didn’t do it the old fashioned way, they could’ve easily got her.
I assume that running it the old fashioned way was part of the rules, and it would be considered cheating if they used cameras and the like, and therefore instant death for the family. Or maybe, since there was no objection to turning on the cameras later on, they’re just big on fair play, despite being a family of people who sold their souls for money.

Grace's left hand was disabled, but doesn't seem to affect her from using it after she bandaged it, especially questionable when she uses it to pinch the old gal's hand just before she avoids the dagger.
Imagine how cool it would have been if Le Bail had shown up when the family saw it was dawn and told them they lost and killed them. I think that would have been a much better ending
I think part of the deal is that they have to make sure the family stays worthy of the devil’s gift. Like it’s to create an evil bloodline that is tested in a death match when that bloodline is threatened by letting in good. They’re also just a game company empire the devil could have multiple family with similar deals.
If you think about it, the devil's rules are quite logical, I mean if a family member manages to get married to someone lawful and has strong morals, its likely that she'll investigate more on the bad deeds of the family, later on she'd also be joining in the rituals if that ever comes to happen and I'm guessing that would be difficult for someone lawful.
Honestly man, if I had gone through what Grace did, I'd become incredibly religious. Ain't nothing like nearly getting sacrificed to put the fear of god in you.

25:20 "trying to choke him out was too risky" Also nerdexplains every time someone doesn't double tap someone: why does no one ever go for the double tap
Step one. Live in sin and never get married. There, that's it. You won. The movie explicitly states that the curse only kicks in on marriage on only affects true born family members. Bastards and mistresses/lovers don't seem to count. With that in mind, why the HELL would you get married? Yeah, you would never benefit from the curses blessings if your family line was carried on through affairs and unofficial unions but you wouldn't have to worry about your entire family line being wiped out by a single mistake either. Instead everyone in the family treated the whole situated as a binary problem. Them or us. Live or die.
I get the impression that everyone involved was pretty convinced Satan would not take kindly to being screwed by loopholes, so there was probably some pretty intense internal pressure to get married on all of them. Alternative answer: that was literally true, and things would go really poorly for you if you tried it.
You know, I never thought about how the game chooses the person to die or not. I never co related how the other spouses are LeDomme material and Grace is not.
Suggestion: a How to Beat the Infected in "Crossed". I know it's not a movie (and it'll probably never be), but it'd be cool to see how you'd face an apocalypse where the zombies can use guns and plan ambushes
When I watched the scene where she leaves the butler unconscious I just keep yelling "RUN HIM OVER! DOUBLE TAP!" and honestly, I think that was her only mistake in this entire movie, everything else was kinda out of her hands.

I love that grace was logically caught off guard but wasn’t totally incompetent like most scary movie characters
We can thank Melanie Scrofano's character for that. If she wasn't such a trigger-happy disaster, Grace would have died in 5 minutes. Watching a servant get _shot in the face_ pushed Grace from confused boredom, through shocked disbelief, and straight into survival mode.
Yeah, instead it was the dumbass rich Satanists who were incompetent. Which, honestly is kind of a refreshing change of pace in this genre.
Yea like ready or not and the hunt in fact its kind of the same movie 3 times over. But at least it is fun.
Alex is definitely the villain in this movie… dude barely did anything to prepare or assist her going in…
He should have prepared her in advance...
@@handleonafridge6828 once the game was drawn, he could’ve let her know it literally wasn’t a game… At least.
Yeah Charity knew before marriage why couldn’t Alex tell Grace smh 🤦
Yea it makes 0 sense
Honestly Grace ended up winning in the end bc she now the sole owner of the toy company the family had owned. So she became a multi billionaire and she doesn’t have to follow the curse.
Are you sure about that, it could be that she is still considered part of the family, but since she won the game, she was allowed to survive.
So it means since all of the main family is dead she’s the sole inheritor of the family’s company and fortune. She is free of the curse and a multi-billionaire.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one thinking that. I really wanted for him to survive.

I love how understanding this guy is. He really is empathetic to the situation, not just kill everyone
He doesn't say obnoxious things like "oh why didn't she know E=Mc² she's so stupid" he actually says things that might help in the setting of the movie
Empathetic how?
After they killed the maid, they literally could’ve just stayed in that room.
The family didn’t think they needed to check that room.
i love the theory i saw on the kill count video of this movie. the game actually ended in a draw this time, she got caught but not sacrifice so a new game needed to be picked or the marriage needs to happen again. up until Helena says she can still kill our protagonist, thus choosing hide and seek again (only game that would result in death) and auto failing due to it being past dawn.
i think that's bloody hysterical, and makes the movie even better
That's genius! Makes total sense

That seems to go against the free will God gave us
This isn't the Gospel. Read this as it breaks what I said in the Million Dollar Question down:
Would you consider yourself to be a good person?
When you place your trust in Jesus - the Lord and Saviour - these things will happen:
1) God will forgive the sins that you have committed; they were paid for by Jesus at the cross.
ROMANS 10:9 - If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved
> Kayvon, I'm afraid you're actually following the teachings of a fake prophet. You're tempted by the Devil who created institutionalized religion to deceive people. You're actually being blasphemous by following your devil religion (OBEY OR SUFFER IN HELL! That's the Devil, not God).

I'm surprised no one at the family thought of secretly hiding/destroying the "Hide & Seek" card to prevent their loved ones from potentially getting killed.

@@vvlogger6891 Im thinking of along comedy lines, like the family just done know what they got themselves into XD
Or if some women decide to marry commando.
or if she was a good but supernatural being, with like powers or improved physical ability.
@@vvlogger6891 why
Nerd Explain be like:
"Okay here's where she went wrong. When running through the forest she should have recognize the surrounding trees of being of indigenous distinction. It is very obviously well known when you see this you should immediately run north west using a tree branch as guidance"
Exactly
@@mynamejeff8401 wdym "exactly" he doesn't even fucking do shit like this in the video, he just uses common sense
Common sense are you stupid in a lot of his videos he pulls up random knowledge no one knows without searching it up and no way anyone will think that fast in the heat of the moment.
@@mynamejeff8401 It’s almost like you have to do research for these types of things and use common sense? Almost like the two go together?

Even the Devils says ggwp to the main character
Please cover "You're Next". I feel like it would end up beaing about trying to beat the protag, but it's too dope for you to not do it.
Grace's left hand was disabled, but doesn't seem to affect her from using it after she bandaged it, especially questionable when she uses it to pinch the old gal's hand just before she avoids the dagger.
This channel deserves all the recognition, truly.
BTW I adore Samara Weaving
People who are introverted and single are easily going to beat this game
This is the best part of the day
Congrats on 1 million!!! Well deserved!!!!! Long time fan speaking honestly when I say your content has only gotten more quality with time!
u know its a good day when hitstart and nerd explains uploads in the same day
With this amount of plot armor and contrived coincidence, beating this death game isn't much harder then beating a regular game of hide and seek
Imagine how cool it would have been if Le Bail had shown up when the family saw it was dawn and told them they lost and killed them. I think that would have been a much better ending
This man be getting 1,000's of subscribers a week. This movie was hella scary though
meh, its not scary for me
How is that scary? I laughed my ass off watching this, i just cant take any of the characters serious in this lol
It's literally a comedy-
@@lazerjayzer9981 just talkin about the devil stuff
how is this movie scary? it looks more like a black comedy than an horror movie.
Congrats on a million! You’re legitimately my favourite channel.
Great video thx my takeaway from the spirit nodding to the main chicken was her now being granted the same Devil's deal now because she has proven herself. Like a survival of the fitness kind of thing also plz do a How To Beat for the 2 Fright Night movies or the remake
21:52 Ah, there it is... The classic 'kids can do whatever they want with no consequence' trope. I love it when they they're invincible or protected in whatever they're in. Movies, tv shows, games, they always get off easy while they maim, torture, or kill things. Whenever consequences do happen though, it's offscreen or cut to black, or screen shift. mmhmm, realism...
I would’ve just hid under the blankets of a bed 😎

The house this was filmed in is the parkwood mansion in oshawa, in Canada. Many films have been made there, this is by far the best. I am pretty certain they used it for the entire movie. Amazing to see a part of my childhood like this.
As a short, highly competitive person who has an unnecessary obsessions with climbing things I’d have probably ended up on top of a cabinet or something. Would have been pretty effective.
I have been watching you since the start keep doing what you feel is good and have a good time 😌
Just what I needed after a long week
The dumbwaiter could be good if you get halfway and break it since it's a waiting game. Better idea turn on a radio put it in the dumbwaiter and break it between floors so the end up spending hours trying to get at the radio.
Your content here are one of the best! My day ramps up all 10 points when I see your new videos! Huge fan over here!
If the grandma didn’t grab the axe to try to kill grace, the family might have lived. Bc it says in the rules, that they can’t kill the spouse after damn. Bc the grandma tried, it broke the rules.
Wait really dam that sucks
25:20 "trying to choke him out was too risky"
Also nerdexplains every time someone doesn't double tap someone: why does no one ever go for the double tap
Why is the sentence "grace wouldve gotten her head ping-ponged around the car" so funny to me?
30:13 I don't know why but that scream makes me laugh so hard whenever I hear it 😂😂
Did you do a million subscribers episode??! Congrats on the milestone!! Loving the content!!
You know, I never thought about how the game chooses the person to die or not. I never co related how the other spouses are LeDomme material and Grace is not.
Grace pulling herself up using the nail in her hand is the gnarliest thing ever
Lmao, imagine this same setting, but dude was really a bad ass sleeper agent, and it's all about the family hiding from their fatal decision.
Suggestion: a How to Beat the Infected in "Crossed". I know it's not a movie (and it'll probably never be), but it'd be cool to see how you'd face an apocalypse where the zombies can use guns and plan ambushes
As a romantic, I see a cool alternative take no one has the gutts to make, where he tells the truth and they fight their way to credits.
gotta say grace is one hell of a woman took a bullet a knife a tranq and blunt force trauma and still kicked ass, how'd Alex land her eh.
Thanks for covering this:)
When I watched the scene where she leaves the butler unconscious I just keep yelling "RUN HIM OVER! DOUBLE TAP!" and honestly, I think that was her only mistake in this entire movie, everything else was kinda out of her hands.
I did the same thing, I keep saying "Finish the Job!!" When she finally killes the mother I noticed she learned from her mistake with the butler.
It's so eerie how similar Grace's actor looks to Margot Robbie
Man the lighting in this movie is pretty nice.
He has like the perfect commentary voice!
This has become my new favorite way to watch movies
Man I was starving till he uploads
