I like to imagine that if you had a long timer, and since you can't die before your timer runs out, that you can do all kinds of crazy death defying stuff all while the demon begrudgingly saves you to keep the curse going.

I want to point out the sheer hilarity of there being reviews for this app. The only way there'd be legitimate reviews would be people who saw their friends use it and die or someone used it before they died.
That said, since they had time to do all the setting up, couldn't either the salt circle have been made even larger for more of a perimeter since it looked like it could reach an inch into the thing, or just perimeter the whole church with the salt so that it can't come in to mess about period.

I honestly couldn’t consider the demon the villain in this story. Simple deal: You are told when you are supposed to die and may not use this information to alter your own fate. If you try the demon shows up and corrects it. We see that the demon usually has to kill those who cheat death but also (tries to) save those who’d die before their time. You were supposed to die anyways and now you can do crazy stuff knowing your personal guardian -angel- demon is begrudgingly doing it’s best to make sure you live until the moment you *are* supposed to slip in the shower!
Considering that the app was apparently created by a demon, and since demons typically seek out human souls, I think I can picture how this would work out in a court of afterlife law. •If a person dies like they are destined to, then everything goes normally. •If a person uses the app to try and evade death, the demon is fully allowed to kill them but has to do it at the time they are supposed to die. •By creating the app, its able to tell people when they're destined to die, and just about any reasonable person would try and evade that, sending them into the demon's clutches. Then again, I'm sure this would be considered entrapment.
I think the way that it works without the app too is that if you're technically fated to die, but didnt opt into that, hell must have some agreement to not intervene unless the human agrees to it, so without downloading the app the demons cant reinforce the human's fated death time if they DO manage to sidestep it

An interesting thing is that the app tells you when you die and this often causes people to get nervous and play it safer. They then avoid their death but that sends a demon after them to get the job done. I wonder if the demon would be sent without the app

In physics there's the idea of schrodingers cat - where things are undetermined until there is an observer to confirm the results. By seeing when you die you become an observer and confirm that you wont die at your fated time, even if it's a 50-50 toss up. Maybe courtney wouldnt have ever gotten into the car with her drunk boyfriend, by seeing the results as if she HAD, she rigged the game and gets hunted. Kind of how if you can card count you can increase your chances of winning at blackjack even if it should be relatively random. By seeing when you'll die you manipulate fate and if the odds are a 50-50, like courtney getting in the car or not.
correction, an AED only stops a fibrillating heart, resets it, so you can then pump to get it going again. that's why it's called a defibrillator. the AED does NOT start the heart again.
Yeah, pretty sure you would need an adrenaline shot to restart the heart. That's what i remember from my first aid course anyway and to be fair it has been about 6 years since then.
This!! The only way to restart a flatlined heart is to use epinephrine and compressions. Shocking it won't do shit. That's television bullshit. Best bet, ice bath until your core temp is low enough to stop your heart, then revive them with proper medication and perfusion of warm saline. 3:29 I actually did decide one day to read the terms and services at the beginning of a videogame I bought once (Ni No Kuni 2, for those curious). While I was reading it, I set a TH-camr's livestream of the game on my phone to listen to and kept reporting anytime I found something weird sounding. About an hour into the stream, I informed them I found an entire section detailing the rules for how to use the online features (which didn't exist) and microtransactions (which the game didn't have) for real world gambling. The rules also stated that bannable offenses included using all caps or racial slurs in the game's online chat (again, it had no online features). I forgot about this by the time I was halfway through the game and vaguely remembered it near the end, honestly kind of disappointed there was no gambling (online or otherwise) especially since one of the towns in the game was explicitly themed around shady casinos.

I think the reason the morphine plan worked was because Ozdin believed he had failed, she didn't actually break the curse it just believed she had. or ,perhaps my favorite explanation, It enjoyed the hunt they had led it on so it wanted to prolong it by letting them think they'd won then starting it again.
I like that the film implies that the demon is just an honest working man. People are downloading the app to see when they are gonna die, and all he is doing is telling them. But once they change fate, now he has to step in because he ain't no liar.

34:40 you can only use an AED if someone is in VFIB, AFIB etc. You need adrenaline and CPR and once you get an unstable Rythm, you can AED them. AND narcan has a much less half- life than all opioids (narcan ~20 - 30 mins), so when someone is ODing to the point where they need CPR, after 30 mins the effects of narcan would wear off while the opioid is still effective, thus them needing another shot or a drip of narcan to keep the effects from the almost lethal dose of opioids down (aka Re- ODing) to the point where breathing / contiousness would most likely would be very much affected.
An AED will only defibrillate Ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation. Defibrillating anything else would be useless. Patients are given epinephrine during a cardiac arrest to help increase myocardial and cerebral blood flow whenever we are doing chest compressions. And yes, it is possible to get a patient back with only CPR and yes it is possible for a patient to go into v-tach or v-fib, defibrillate them and they come back awake and talking. Also, as advanced life support providers an AED is not used it is just a heart monitor/defibrillator that has user selectable joules/energy to select from and that would shock anything as long as you had it on however like I said before that would be useless and could and probably would make the patients condition worse.

I don't think simply avoiding the app would have saved anyone as I don't think the app was causing the deaths only predicting them. Without the lifesaving foreknowledge they would have all walked to there deaths.

I think you bring up some very valid questions! Though the movie did end up answering them, they did it in a way that was kinda stupid. One of the final girls did "kill" herself before the countdown, and it successfully ended up banishing the demon. And while the demon did try to prevent her from killing herself, I guess the demon can only prevent intentional suicides up to a certain degree.

Honestly this is a really cool idea for a horror movie "villain" like it doesn't kill you unless you break the rules and if you do, you just die when you were already going to. I guess it's unique in the way that most horror movie monsters cut your life short

If you go back to the story, the prince sacrificed his own brother to save his own life; that’s what the curse is based on is saving your own skin. But because she tried to end her own life, sacrificing HERSELF for someone else, that most likely was the loophole that Ozin couldn’t beat
Does it even need to be defeated? Yeah the demon is a dick but it's not really "killing" anyone, it simply shows people how long they have to live and punishes them if they try to avoid their fates. It's depressing but it's clear that the demon is not actually try to shorten their lives considering that a lot of people got 57+ years and even the drunk guy that they trick to read the terms of service still had 37 years to live.

I see app as a contract with a demon. The app is quite clever for it and less evil. I’m not saying it’s not evil at all cause it definitely is, it’s just one of the lesser evil things in the world(human loansharks have done eviler things than this app.) You sign the contract by agreeing to the terms and conditions, what you get out of it is that you can see your time of death, you break the contract if you use the app to avoid your death in any way shape or form, then the demon can kill you at the original time of your death and has claim to your soul. What the app does is pray on human nature, if you get even the tiniest hint your gonna die, you’ll do stuff to avoid it.
This absolutely makes me wonder whether the shorter death timers were always destined to happen, and they just wouldn’t have thought to try and avoid it if they hadn’t seen the timer. Or whether they were fates that could’ve been dodged without the app and the app just punishes dodging them.
Is it really a Killer app if you would've died regardless of whether you download it or not? If anything this app saved Quinn and Jordan's lives. They rescheduled the trip at which they would've died because of it, and then they managed to beat ozhin, and that effectively prolonged their life.

This movie reminds me of a Japanese horror game (2011) called "Kakusan Kibou." It's also about kids trying to escape death and survive the curse originating from their phone app. The kids receive notifications for their times of deaths too and are visited by the demonic entity, literally like in this movie.
Here's a fact cum On Mt. Everest, you have the rainbow valley, the last zone to climb to reach the peak. Which sounds cute but it's really the colorful jackets of dead climbers who are frozen in time against the white harsh snow. Also, when close to the peak, the oxygen levels are so low that the body is starting to die. You only have a few minutes to reach the top.
Lets be honest, they can literally just win easily by redrawing and blessing the circle. That would literally be the best, and easiest solution they found instead of dying and coming back from death
I think it would've made more sense for the demon to cheat his way around the protection circle by vaulting something lethal at the target from a distance like a knife, pen, ect. They can't leave the circle, and it doesn't provide much room to move. Successfully luring Matt away even though he KNEW the circle was working was terribly dumb.

Actually since the countdown clock predicted that the doctor had years to live, its possible that they were just destined to die and the spirit was killing them for breaking their user agreement by not dying the way they were supposed to, and that die and revive thing most likely got to do with the 'new life can beat death' thing used in final destination 2 where if you die and is brought back to life you get a free pass on cheating death or something like that. Either way, chances are those characters wouldn't have survived even if they didn't download the app. I would keep this in mind Nerd Explain incase you ever do a video on the Final Destination Movies because you could use it to reference this video
my bet is that since the app can update there might be a clause in the first version of the app that forces you to automatically agree to any new version without getting to agree to the terms and services again. before you say but that is illegal take into account that using the app is basically making a deal with the devil, and the devil never plays fair. leading her being horrified to get that notice. so unless we get a sequel we can go with either theory. but since they didnt have the premonition thing (the undeniable main feature from final destination) i would bet more heavily for my theory instead of giving it over to final destination logic.
Wonderful video as always NerdExplains! I look forward to seeing the notification! Also from a survival standpoint, it looks as though Ozhin can only come out in complete darkness. There was not one kill with either lights on or sunlight. So another idea is to get yourself in a hospital with as many lights as possible, or time to zip up your light armor from “Lights Out” and see if that is a deterrent in some way. It may be worth a try and hop in the salt circle while you are at it. The narcan like you mentioned does not work that way. Probably the best chance you have to revive yourself after death is either drowning or elecrocution. It would be incredibly hard to plan out the timing for that. I would get my butt in the hospital and call the nurses line every few seconds on my last minute. That way someone else is in the room when it happens. You have the best chance at survival not being alone and being around the best minds to help you.
I would like to answer the last question “where exactly does the app marks the line between life and death?” Hmm, i would say where ever the plot demands.
Okay im only 13 minutes into the video but I think I understand what the movie is going for. So, my prediction would be that the devil or whatever put this app out there. However, regardless of whether or not you download it, you will still die whenever you were supposed to die. People die in car crashes and in surgery all the time. I think its kinda like Final Destination in a way. However, as opposed to FD where Death is pissed that you didn't die as you were supposed to, Death in this movie is HOPING you don't die as you were supposed to so that you break the User Agreement and Death gets to murder you. That's my prediction / theory of the movie.

@@brunobruno-c1d I feel like if you were the sort of person to not go with the drunk driver, you wouldn't have been fated to die there in the first place, since your fate to die in that car crash is contingent on the fact that you would decide to. The major grey area though is what if someone else used knowledge from the app to save you without you actually agreeing to it. If they saw that they were going to die at a time that they would be on a large transport vehicle like a plane or bus, it wouldn't be a major leap to assume that the cause of death would be a vehicle accident. If that person then stopped the vehicle or evacuated it, they would have used knowledge from the app to save everyone else without those people ever agreeing to it.

@@1randomperson246 As great as Cinema Summary is, He has two issues though that get tedious when watching him. 1) He always goes on about killing the others and betraying people all the time, so much that it kind of becomes frustrating to listen to (But he will complain if people betray you instead, even though that is his whole plan anyway). 2) He tends to overly on hindsight knowledge in his plans and seems to rely heavily on having the audience POV and not that of the character in the movie or situation.
I’m a Security Officer in a large Nevada casino. I responded to a fentanyl overdose in one of the rooms and the lady was DOA no pulse. I administered a dose of Narcan. Realizing it wasn’t working, I preformed chest compressions and she came back long enough for the paramedics to arrive. You don’t actually need a defibrillator per se, but it should be known that the heart must be stimulated if it’s stopped to allow the narcan to move through the system and take effect.

If you then stopped the flight, you'd have saved everyone else on it too. But since they never agreed to the terms, the demon shouldn't be able to get to them.
chances are something super stupid like the toilet flushing your insides or choking on plane food, or your allergy is in the food and the plane forgot to restock the epipens. there are literal thousands of ways to die that you pass by every day that could kill just 1 person. not everything is a plane falling out of the sky levels of death.

It’s funny. I downloaded that app from their promotional run. I can’t remember the exact time I had but I think I had 40-50 years left. It was fun to download the app and peoples’ time left. I had a friend have their countdown get to 0 and it didn’t do anything.

That priest should have called an excorcist, I went to an excorcist conference and there was a very clear path to break this curse that the priest there should have told them. They need to go to a church list out all the terms of agreement and verbally deny them one by one, a confession for agreeing to those terms is the best way to rid yourself of that demon. I say a church because every church or monastery is given a sort of protection ritual against demons, they dig in all four corners an entire block of salt and do excorcism prayers to repel demons.
So when he edited the app, how did that work exactly? Did he hack into the server where the app is stored/downloaded from? How does editing the source code from one device end up changing others? Is the app on a blockchain? I don't get how that would work.
I mean it’s a magical demon app that predicts your death, editing the display timer might actually have temporarily set their lifespans to that number… it’s my personal headcanon atleast one person has pulled that off judging by how quickly they reset it.
I remember seeing this movie forever ago, and the first death was always kinda dumb. No death clock app would influence someone to not ride with a drunk driver so breaking the user agreement was stupid af there. It would be different if it said death by mugging on the corner of street x and street y and at 22:55 and you take a different route home, but this scene implies she would have happily ridden with a drink driver. Interesting movie though. As far as one can tell, the app just tells you when you'll die and possibly where. So without the app you will die at the same place and time regardless. It dosent decide when or where, it just tells you and makes certain you die should you try and change the outcome. And a person's lifespan will max out at around 150 years. After that your body has no resilience. While in theory there is no limit, in practice the ultimate limit is 150, although that could change with crispers kas9 and other discoveries in genetic engineering

I think he premise of the movie is actually quite a good idea... but instead of demons chasing you when you "broke" the agreement, which is kind of lame, it would have been so much more effective to portray a death situation created by their own desperation from escaping it. So no matter what you do, stay in the moment or try to escape it will lead to your death. That would make one think: did everyone make the wrong choice each time or is fate something written and inescapable? Hmm I wonder...

Father John literally came in so clutch and they still somehow did everything wrong and wasted it. At that point they deserve whatever happens after.
All they had to do was stand still for 20 minutes. It was working.
That said, since they had time to do all the setting up, couldn't either the salt circle have been made even larger for more of a perimeter since it looked like it could reach an inch into the thing, or just perimeter the whole church with the salt so that it can't come in to mess about period.

I honestly couldn’t consider the demon the villain in this story.
Simple deal: You are told when you are supposed to die and may not use this information to alter your own fate. If you try the demon shows up and corrects it.
We see that the demon usually has to kill those who cheat death but also (tries to) save those who’d die before their time. You were supposed to die anyways and now you can do crazy stuff knowing your personal guardian -angel- demon is begrudgingly doing it’s best to make sure you live until the moment you *are* supposed to slip in the shower!

Considering that the app was apparently created by a demon, and since demons typically seek out human souls, I think I can picture how this would work out in a court of afterlife law.

I think the way that it works without the app too is that if you're technically fated to die, but didnt opt into that, hell must have some agreement to not intervene unless the human agrees to it, so without downloading the app the demons cant reinforce the human's fated death time if they DO manage to sidestep it

I don't think Quinn dying is what killed the demon. I believe that, while the demon was distracted trying to save her, her sisters timer ran out this ruining the curse.

3:29 I actually did decide one day to read the terms and services at the beginning of a videogame I bought once (Ni No Kuni 2, for those curious). While I was reading it, I set a TH-camr's livestream of the game on my phone to listen to and kept reporting anytime I found something weird sounding. About an hour into the stream, I informed them I found an entire section detailing the rules for how to use the online features (which didn't exist) and microtransactions (which the game didn't have) for real world gambling. The rules also stated that bannable offenses included using all caps or racial slurs in the game's online chat (again, it had no online features). I forgot about this by the time I was halfway through the game and vaguely remembered it near the end, honestly kind of disappointed there was no gambling (online or otherwise) especially since one of the towns in the game was explicitly themed around shady casinos.

I think the reason the morphine plan worked was because Ozdin believed he had failed, she didn't actually break the curse it just believed she had. or ,perhaps my favorite explanation, It enjoyed the hunt they had led it on so it wanted to prolong it by letting them think they'd won then starting it again.
I like that the film implies that the demon is just an honest working man. People are downloading the app to see when they are gonna die, and all he is doing is telling them. But once they change fate, now he has to step in because he ain't no liar.

34:40 you can only use an AED if someone is in VFIB, AFIB etc. You need adrenaline and CPR and once you get an unstable Rythm, you can AED them. AND narcan has a much less half- life than all opioids (narcan ~20 - 30 mins), so when someone is ODing to the point where they need CPR, after 30 mins the effects of narcan would wear off while the opioid is still effective, thus them needing another shot or a drip of narcan to keep the effects from the almost lethal dose of opioids down (aka Re- ODing) to the point where breathing / contiousness would most likely would be very much affected.
An AED will only defibrillate Ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation. Defibrillating anything else would be useless. Patients are given epinephrine during a cardiac arrest to help increase myocardial and cerebral blood flow whenever we are doing chest compressions. And yes, it is possible to get a patient back with only CPR and yes it is possible for a patient to go into v-tach or v-fib, defibrillate them and they come back awake and talking. Also, as advanced life support providers an AED is not used it is just a heart monitor/defibrillator that has user selectable joules/energy to select from and that would shock anything as long as you had it on however like I said before that would be useless and could and probably would make the patients condition worse.

I think you bring up some very valid questions! Though the movie did end up answering them, they did it in a way that was kinda stupid.
One of the final girls did "kill" herself before the countdown, and it successfully ended up banishing the demon. And while the demon did try to prevent her from killing herself, I guess the demon can only prevent intentional suicides up to a certain degree.

Yeah the demon is a dick but it's not really "killing" anyone, it simply shows people how long they have to live and punishes them if they try to avoid their fates.
It's depressing but it's clear that the demon is not actually try to shorten their lives considering that a lot of people got 57+ years and even the drunk guy that they trick to read the terms of service still had 37 years to live.

I’m not saying it’s not evil at all cause it definitely is, it’s just one of the lesser evil things in the world(human loansharks have done eviler things than this app.) You sign the contract by agreeing to the terms and conditions, what you get out of it is that you can see your time of death, you break the contract if you use the app to avoid your death in any way shape or form, then the demon can kill you at the original time of your death and has claim to your soul. What the app does is pray on human nature, if you get even the tiniest hint your gonna die, you’ll do stuff to avoid it.

This absolutely makes me wonder whether the shorter death timers were always destined to happen, and they just wouldn’t have thought to try and avoid it if they hadn’t seen the timer. Or whether they were fates that could’ve been dodged without the app and the app just punishes dodging them.
Is it really a Killer app if you would've died regardless of whether you download it or not? If anything this app saved Quinn and Jordan's lives. They rescheduled the trip at which they would've died because of it, and then they managed to beat ozhin, and that effectively prolonged their life.
but they got a free app upgrade....... so until movie 2 comes out we wont know what app 2.0 has changed in the terms and services. plus not all spps when they update offer the terms and services screen again so they could automatically have a new timer even without opening the app.
so since they didnt read the long version of the terms this clause for if they broke the timer could have been hidden. making them automatically accept the new updated app ahead of time.

This movie reminds me of a Japanese horror game (2011) called "Kakusan Kibou." It's also about kids trying to escape death and survive the curse originating from their phone app. The kids receive notifications for their times of deaths too and are visited by the demonic entity, literally like in this movie.

Lets be honest, they can literally just win easily by redrawing and blessing the circle. That would literally be the best, and easiest solution they found instead of dying and coming back from death
I think it would've made more sense for the demon to cheat his way around the protection circle by vaulting something lethal at the target from a distance like a knife, pen, ect. They can't leave the circle, and it doesn't provide much room to move. Successfully luring Matt away even though he KNEW the circle was working was terribly dumb.

Actually since the countdown clock predicted that the doctor had years to live, its possible that they were just destined to die and the spirit was killing them for breaking their user agreement by not dying the way they were supposed to, and that die and revive thing most likely got to do with the 'new life can beat death' thing used in final destination 2 where if you die and is brought back to life you get a free pass on cheating death or something like that. Either way, chances are those characters wouldn't have survived even if they didn't download the app.
I would keep this in mind Nerd Explain incase you ever do a video on the Final Destination Movies because you could use it to reference this video
my bet is that since the app can update there might be a clause in the first version of the app that forces you to automatically agree to any new version without getting to agree to the terms and services again. before you say but that is illegal take into account that using the app is basically making a deal with the devil, and the devil never plays fair. leading her being horrified to get that notice.
so unless we get a sequel we can go with either theory. but since they didnt have the premonition thing (the undeniable main feature from final destination) i would bet more heavily for my theory instead of giving it over to final destination logic.
Wonderful video as always NerdExplains! I look forward to seeing the notification! Also from a survival standpoint, it looks as though Ozhin can only come out in complete darkness. There was not one kill with either lights on or sunlight. So another idea is to get yourself in a hospital with as many lights as possible, or time to zip up your light armor from “Lights Out” and see if that is a deterrent in some way. It may be worth a try and hop in the salt circle while you are at it. The narcan like you mentioned does not work that way. Probably the best chance you have to revive yourself after death is either drowning or elecrocution. It would be incredibly hard to plan out the timing for that. I would get my butt in the hospital and call the nurses line every few seconds on my last minute. That way someone else is in the room when it happens. You have the best chance at survival not being alone and being around the best minds to help you.
I would like to answer the last question “where exactly does the app marks the line between life and death?”

Okay im only 13 minutes into the video but I think I understand what the movie is going for. So, my prediction would be that the devil or whatever put this app out there. However, regardless of whether or not you download it, you will still die whenever you were supposed to die. People die in car crashes and in surgery all the time. I think its kinda like Final Destination in a way. However, as opposed to FD where Death is pissed that you didn't die as you were supposed to, Death in this movie is HOPING you don't die as you were supposed to so that you break the User Agreement and Death gets to murder you. That's my prediction / theory of the movie.

The major grey area though is what if someone else used knowledge from the app to save you without you actually agreeing to it. If they saw that they were going to die at a time that they would be on a large transport vehicle like a plane or bus, it wouldn't be a major leap to assume that the cause of death would be a vehicle accident. If that person then stopped the vehicle or evacuated it, they would have used knowledge from the app to save everyone else without those people ever agreeing to it.

I’m a Security Officer in a large Nevada casino. I responded to a fentanyl overdose in one of the rooms and the lady was DOA no pulse. I administered a dose of Narcan. Realizing it wasn’t working, I preformed chest compressions and she came back long enough for the paramedics to arrive. So, I'd be curious to know what would happen in the case where someone who used the app used that information to save someone else who hadn't agreed to the terms.
Like, if your own count would expire while you're on an aircraft, there's a decent chance that everyone else on that flight would be in danger. If you then stopped the flight, you'd have saved everyone else on it too. But since they never agreed to the terms, the demon shouldn't be able to get to them.
chances are something super stupid like the toilet flushing your insides or choking on plane food, or your allergy is in the food and the plane forgot to restock the epipens. there are literal thousands of ways to die that you pass by every day that could kill just 1 person. not everything is a plane falling out of the sky levels of death.

Demon also doesn't shorten their life, since you can clearly see some people have 30 or 50 years left. The app only shows when they will die. If they try to prevent their fate, demon does the job and kills them himself.

Even if she did report the sexual harassment, I doubt anything would happen to the doctor. In hospitals, doctors are the ones who bring in the money, so nobody gets in their way. There is even a doctor who continuously paralyzed or even killed people every time he did a surgery and it took another doctor from a completely different hospital to finally get rid of him.

That priest should have called an excorcist, I went to an excorcist conference and there was a very clear path to break this curse that the priest there should have told them. They need to go to a church list out all the terms of agreement and verbally deny them one by one, a confession for agreeing to those terms is the best way to rid yourself of that demon.
I say a church because every church or monastery is given a sort of protection ritual against demons, they dig in all four corners an entire block of salt and do excorcism prayers to repel demons.

I mean it’s a magical demon app that predicts your death, editing the display timer might actually have temporarily set their lifespans to that number… it’s my personal headcanon atleast one person has pulled that off judging by how quickly they reset it.

I remember seeing this movie forever ago, and the first death was always kinda dumb. No death clock app would influence someone to not ride with a drunk driver so breaking the user agreement was stupid af there. It would be different if it said death by mugging on the corner of street x and street y and at 22:55 and you take a different route home, but this scene implies she would have happily ridden with a drink driver. Interesting movie though. As far as one can tell, the app just tells you when you'll die and possibly where. So without the app you will die at the same place and time regardless. It dosent decide when or where, it just tells you and makes certain you die should you try and change the outcome. And a person's lifespan will max out at around 150 years. After that your body has no resilience. While in theory there is no limit, in practice the ultimate limit is 150, although that could change with crispers kas9 and other discoveries in genetic engineering

I think he premise of the movie is actually quite a good idea... but instead of demons chasing you when you "broke" the agreement, which is kind of lame, it would have been so much more effective to portray a death situation created by their own desperation from escaping it. So no matter what you do, stay in the moment or try to escape it will lead to your death.
That would make one think: did everyone make the wrong choice each time or is fate something written and inescapable?
