- A 4K walking tour through quiet, but historic Rockhampton.
Rockhampton (the beef capital of Australia) is one of the oldest cities in Queensland and in Northern Australia. In 1853, Charles and William Archer came across what is now also known as the Fitzroy River, which they named in honour of Sir Charles FitzRoy.
This 4K walking tour takes a stroll around the historic town center including views of the Fitzroy River.
It was post-Christmas and there were not a lot of crowds, but there was a fairly serious car accident being attended to.

I spent the loneliest 13 months of my life in this town 13 years ago as a boy of 25 years! I flew from Mumbai (one of the densest cities) to Rockvegas! That folks was a massive 840Volt culture shock!
how was it?
It was disturbingly quiet, and made me a genius. Reading and cooking were my best friends! And I had the longest sleeps.

No racism at all. I did have an experience where the a group of homeless aboriginals snatched my subway sandwich off me one evening. That’s shook me head to toe. But no I never experienced racism. The loneliness was totally from the culture shock and lack of late evening outdoor social life.

That's great. Being an old city it has some interesting architecture. And some of the roads are really really wide.

I walked those streets a number of times, from pub to pub, 15 of them in the city at the time

i was born in Rockhampton and i haven't been back since then and that was nearly 20 years ago.
It probably hasn't changed too much?
@@Walk4KToday idk i've only been there once and that was when i was born (maybe my parents know if it's different) i lived near Gladstone but then we moved 17 (nearly 18) years ago to NSW

Why is it so dead... was thinking of doing an exchange as CQU but guess not
It’s Boxing Day. The guy wrote it at the beginning. All the drunks are looking for alcohol, hence the traffic. The joint hasn’t changed.. you can dress up the city centre, but it’s still Vegas.
