Had my bachelor there back in 2008 when it was called Central Queensland University. The accomodation buildings called Capricornia college has remained nearly the same. This video recalls me tons of good memories. Oneday I really hope to visit Rocky again. From a CQU alumnus living in the Netherlands
i've been watching your videos since the beginning of this year, and i'm enjoying all of them so much. its really helping for anyone who've planned to continue their study to Aussy. Hopefully, you'll be keeping up in producing such a useful video on TH-cam.
Great video and analysis Rob. I’m proud to be a CQUni Mackay student! My lecturers are also fantastic, inspiring and have done a brilliant job of blending text-book education with real-world experiences and practical application. This might be one of the reasons why employability in CQUni is so high.
Visited CQuni for the first time as an interstate student for my on campus learning week, last week, and I tend to agree with you.. The campus has an extremely relaxed vibe. I love the rainforesty surroundings when walking throughout the main buildings. For accommodation I stayed in the Jardine building which is basic, but pretty good, and the breakfasts and dinners provided in the dining hall were also quite decent! Teachers were easy to get along with and knew their stuff, and overall I had a great week!
You are such a positive and cheerful person ❤️❤️ I just love watching videos. I'm choosing a perfect university for me to study in australia and your reviews help me alot😊. God bless you❤️

@@ChoosingYourUni I did Bachelors in IT, lived in this town for like 11 years. For anyone who's reading this "This is the BEST CQU campus, plus life is easy in this town, I mean not so expensive for student life"
Seems good in theory having TAFE merged into uni and having campuses where you can study from anywhere. Wish some of the other unis would adopt more student friendly measures like these. When I did my masters at USyd they didn't even offer online or evening classes for most units, yet they know a majority of masters students are working, made life more difficult. If I could study online and from campuses almost anywhere I'd be stoked!
Thank you so much for the insightful video, I am studying abroad starting in July at CQU in Rockhampton, and some of the student reviews online made me very anxious, but now I am excited again!
Thank you so much fpr this video! I'm moving from 7 hours away in feb and the first time i see the campus will be when i go, so its noce to see and hear a little bit more about it.
@@ChoosingYourUni I'm moving from little old Bribie Island and I'll be staying on campus. Not sure if I'm more excited or nervous. And because I'm not comfortable flying, I've got a lovely 7 hour train ride 😂
Yeah, great suggestion! Just book early - when we were in Rocky every Fri/Sat night was booked solid for 2 months ahead! It’s clearly too nice out there!
Actually, we had to leave Rockhampton quickly as we're now heading over to Western Australia - I'll have a vlog out about that decision in a few weeks!
I got an offer letter for CQU Rockhampton campus. I really want to know about how are job opportunities? Because as an international student I need to pay uni fees, bills, rent, etc. and how can we find accommodation there ?
CQ has good student accommodation on campus. That is the best option to begin with imo because the rental market is quite tight in Rockhampton. At time of writing there is tonnes of work everywhere in Australia.
Hey Rob, love the videos, keep up the good work. I'm a mature age student (31) and have been offered a place at CQ Uni in Cairns, to study Paramedic Science. I currently live in Vic and moving to far north QLD would be an amazing adventure. Would you recommend studying here? I can't find a lot of information about the Cairns campus, as it's quite small and relatively new.
Hi Andrew, Good on you mate. Cairns would be a lovely place to live for awhile! The paramedic program at CQU is good. The “campus” in Cairns is really just a building downtown but it’s pretty new so the facilities should be good. I didn’t go in there when I was in Cairns but did go to the front door (didn’t include the clip in this vid since it wasn’t that exciting). I think CQ punches well above it’s weight. The great thing about paramedicine is that there is work all over the country. CQ’s National presence would be an advantage in that regard imo
I'm thinking about study accounting and finance in Australia. Money is pretty important while i prefer decent big cities. Any recommendation ? (Griffith is on my mind atm and also South Australia)
I saw a lot of bad reviews on their online studies, looking at doing psychology degree, any honest advice? I see a lot of bad reviews for most of programs offered online, is it just people who didn't have their way whining
There is one review site I was looking at recently that seems to be 90% negativity. Not just for this uni but most unis. And it’s almost completely useless. Let’s face it - studying online isn’t great regardless of the uni, full stop. The current government data has shown student satisfaction gets smashed at many unis around the country. Can I ask why you’re looking at online specifically?

The university seems nice but what are the job opportunities as an international students during their study period how we pay our bills and uni tuition fees!! How about job opportunities in this area
Rockhampton is booming at the moment and unemployment in Australia is at historical lows, so finding part time work shouldn't be too much of a problem right now.
Hi mate, I am overseas student who just got an offer to study in Cq uni In rockhampton campus. So, just want to know that it is good place to live & what about working opportunities there. Is it beneficial for me to study in Rockhampton campus? Pls get back to me:)
I really like the Rockhampton campus. It's a chilled out vibe and there are kangaroos there amongst the trees. The university is a very important part of the local community so there are strong linkages and many opportunities for students. The summers are pretty hot but the rest of the year it is perfect weather!
I just got an offer to study here half an hour ago! I got in for psychological science, this may be a dumb question but I'm not sure how uni works with things like this but you have any info on class sizes or how the lecturers are? are you able to have 1-1 meeting with the professor if you don't understand something. any info you have would be great thank you.
I'm a lecturer at CQUni and can tell you that 1 on 1 discussions with your lecturer are absolutely possible and are quite common. The psychology lecturers are really friendly and supportive.
Thanks Lisa! I’ve just filmed a whole video on that exact topic and make the point that closer contact with teachers is more likely at smaller unis and the regional unis than the big metros. But it all depends on course and student proactivity too!
I leave comments like this if you can provide more details on your experience so that people can judge whether or not your experience is what they might experience.
