He really can’t catch a break this season. 3 straight episodes of trauma. Hopefully he gets a happy ending, because of all the characters he deserves it the most at this point.
A-Train’s ark is probably my fav this season and I love how they kinda justify why MM lose weight too.
A train power is most useful because only thing u can do against homelander is escape 😅

I love seeing how much, and it's been for a number of episodes now, it's clear that Butcher actually deeply cares for Ryan, and it's gone far beyond just protecting his wife's son.

Sage definitely knows the person. So Sage could have told them about the team working on the virus. But, "Annie" was talking about stuff that had happened earlier in the apartment before the switch. And they knew the safe combination. Sage is good, but I'm not sure she is Oral Roberts.
Damn they had Hughie sexually assaulted two episodes in a row, dude can't catch a break jfc. What a fire episode tho still. That fight! My personal favorite thing now is Starlight just demolishing the faces of dirtbag supes loool

Fun fact: the shapeshifter here completely resembled the shapeshifters in Supernatural, a show created by Eric Kripke [showrunner of The Boys].
Season 4 feels like Supernatural more than previous seasons.

I like the paralell they've done with A-Train & Deep. They both killed their love interests (human or otherwise) out of insecurity, but while one (eventually) chose to better himself and do what made him feel good as a person, the other continues to become more and more pathetic and pitiful each time we see him.

Imagine Noir's powers are intentionally hidden and not shown much so finally he has similar powers as homelander and help defeat him. (Yes comics had a clone of homelander as noir but maybe a decent copy of homelander's powers he could have in this series helping in the final fight)
39:22 that was the point! The Deep is a joke if there's no water involved, but Homelander was stupid enough to send him to kill The Boys. Plus, we already knew Starlight's powers are on the fritz so shouldn't have expected anything more than physical strength from her.
Sister Sage may be playing 4D chess, but she still operates in a realm of logic and reason.
Homeland doesn't operate on logic and realm. He is chaotic. Chaos personified. You can't predict chaos, and so it makes sense that Sister Sage didn't see a few outcomes coming.
That said, it's hard to imagine she was not prepared to be fired from jump. So I do think there is another long term plan at work here.

Just wait till ryan learns that homelander raped his mom. He's gonna end up like webweaver or worse. Remember how easily ryan fucked stormfront up, and he has only gotten stronger since.
Ryan even politely asks "please", whereas Homelander shouts threats. Nice subtle showing of how different yet similar they really are.

Best episode of the season just on the strength of the acting and character arcs on display. Even the octopus was on point.
When I watched the episode this morning, I totally missed Kimiko had a little tiny "Deadpool" foot.....
Web Weaver gets off on being punished, he tried to stop it before homelander killed him, since jabby looked confused while Sage was describing he wasnt the leak...
Something I find is really cool in this episode is the callback to another one of the writer's old shows- Supernatural where the shape shifters needed to "shed" their skin to shift into a new form and touch someone to do it (and keep their memories)
And in it the original shapeshifter does go through a sort of inventory crisis in which they actually don't remember what they look like anymore. It's a really interesting episode to watch even on its own without knowing anything about the show.
God every b plot was so good this episode, Ryan disobeying his dad live, A-Train fully on the good side now completely out of vaught, frenchie and kamiko, MM and his family, the shapeshifter, the deep and octopus, the big fight. Great episode

Plus, there's a rumour that says the shapeshifter's real identity is Hughie's mom. If that's confirmed, that would be the most fucked up thing in the whole show by far.

I think Homelander's biggest mistake is firing Sage and letting her live. He's giving the smartest person on the planet time to think and plot revenge. If anyone can come up with a way to kill Homelander its Sage. Although I think she would rather be behind the scenes instead of taking over so she's probably gonna kill Sage.
This has been a more special episode, it was a real and surprising gift, very sick. Deep and Noir against the members of The boys, A-train and in their game of changing to be a better hero. Frenchy's return, and knowing that Sage's damage was not permanent. And who knows that Butcher will never leave Ryan aside and embrace the lesser version of himself.
They depict the seven as puppets.. even homelander as he was a puppet to Stan and Stillwell.
Homelander rejects Sage much like she was when she was little girl with the doctors. She may flip and help butcher and the boys later on.
Combined with the fact that she's mad at homelander/vought and butcher has cancer so she might get reminded of her grandma she could be help for the boys like a train

Anthony did a perfect job of portraying that Homelander is merely acting hurt but isn’t really hurt. Homelander is being portrayed as a psycho who doesn’t feel shite but wants to justify his cruelty and ruthlessness via gaining victim-points.

I think what u might be missing, is that even tho the deep is a Joke to the people for the most part, he is actually very strong, he can def survive them, but the way they handle power levels in the comics is a bit different but I think they wanted to make sure the deep is still a strong fighter

Something I noticed is that Sage is pretty protective about Butcher and the Boys despite the fact that they shot him and A-Train isn't really a misinformation guide. If anything the Boys know exactly what the 7 is planning because of A Train's leads and Tek Knight a keystone is dead. And the whole "Butcher will be dead soon" , anyone who knows Butcher, knows that someone as crazy as him would not GAF about dying.
Maybe I am looking too much into it but has she been double crossing Homelander in the long run ?

Homelander actually let him tell everything first, unlike the way he cooked the secretary’s head off not even 3 sentences into her explanation, earlier into the season. And listening to the squid choking was unsettling. Great voice acting by Tilda.

I knew she was a changeling straight away, because that's exactly how Kripke portrayed them in Supernatural, with them having to tear their flesh off to become a different person. It's amazing how close to R-rated Supernatural was a lot of the time.
If you couldn't figure out that Starlight would be shapeshifted during the apartment scene, you were also given the clues of her never wanting to see her costume again, her weird ass laugh to Hughie's words, and the lack of eye glowing during their sex scene (tho this can probably be explained away by her power loss so far). But damn, what a cliff! There's no way fake Starlight isn't meant to kill the president! And she also knows where Kimiko's virus leg is

Well The Deep doesn't have Water powers. He can breathe underwater and talk to fish thats it. I may be completely wrong but thats the same for Aquaman. Aquaman controls water using the Trident but he himself has no water powers. This is exactly how a fight between the Flash and Aquaman (without the trident) would look

This season was trying to show that The Deep wants respect and to be seen as more significant by being "Superior." So, in every interaction with people who are weaker or of equal strength to him, he wants to put them beneath him, but in a funny character way.
I take it the deeps character as a 7 8 year old kindergarten kid who would believe anything as long as you say it a way he understands it or makes him happy

I think there's a limit to the shapeshifter's ability to absorb her target's memories,she's keeping Starlight chained up and alive,so she has to keep coming back..Vought news will be reporting that "Annie Oakley" attempts (or commits) Presidential assassination.
